The Power of Lame Compels You
I should be actually getting this game any moment now. You'll have scrubby ass me getting into the thick of it. I still haven't decided who I should start with.
Not every character is created equally man. It's the #1 rule of fighting gamesJuris target combo only hits standing and if you miss Ibukis target combo you die unless you have V-trigger. Kens target combo leads to more damage then both and if he messes it up he can spend meter to be +1? :s
Can we get rules for season 2
It's more to do with the effort put into the characters. If the 2013 SFxT patch is anything to go by, a storm is coming in Season 2 and when it hits players like Rushdown will be in for a big surprise when footsies returnNot every character is created equally man. It's the #1 rule of fighting games
I just got it like a month ago finally and so far most characters have been pretty easy to pick up (note: I only said pick up, and did not say easy to master, win with, etc.). You should be able to dabble enough to see who suits you best of whichever few pique your interest most though.I should be actually getting this game any moment now. who do you play in mk? What playstyle do you enjoy?I should be actually getting this game any moment now. You'll have scrubby ass me getting into the thick of it. I still haven't decided who I should start with.
I play Butcher and Slasher. I'm a fan of space control/rushdown in particular.who do you play in mk? What playstyle do you enjoy?
Chun li is a solid space control character that can also get in people's faces and put on some pretty obscene pressure if she wants.I play Butcher and Slasher. I'm a fan of space control/rushdown in particular.

Dhalsim has always looked cool to me and I do love controlling that space plus the teleport shenanigan look super fun. The kind of zany and unpredictable play I enjoy sometimes. Urien interests me because I LOVE the character. But a character I don't know much about is Vega, care to elaborate on how he functions?Chun li is a solid space control character that can also get in people's faces and put on some pretty obscene pressure if she wants.
Ryu can do the same but he has a worse neutral with higher dmg output.
Dhalsim is weak, but space control is his whole thing. And in this game he can get pretty aggressive when he feels like it if he gets the knockdown. Requires some pretty good game knowledge though since he usually gets blown up for one incorrect decision.
Ken is the rushdown monster you're looking for if you wanna just get in close and freestyle. Needs some good reactions since he lives and dies by his hit confirms but hes got crazy damage and corner carry.
Guile is the best pure zoner in the game, but he's also got some fancy combos for when you wanna go in.
Mika is the closest thing the games got to an mk character. She's got a pretty lukewarm neutral and no ability to zone, but if she can hit you, she can kill you.
Honorable mentions: Alex, necalli, Urien, vega, Karin.
Luckily the characters are simple enough that you can pick up and play(at a somewhat competent level) a lot of characters. So try em all.
Fucking this!!!! this alone makes the Gief matchup that much harder, he does not have to worry as much about the V-Trigger punish as LP fireball is tricky enough as it is to deal with.Ryu has everything you're looking for. Well, Ryu has everything the game has to offer literally. He doesn't lack anything. Setups, rushdown, space control, zoning, counter-zoning,pace control, 3f normal (as fast as it gets in SFV, and an important tool), invincible reversal. Damage (lots of damage), good conversions in to damage off almost anything. great CC damage. Great jump-ins, great AAs, great A2A's that can convert in to serious damage. Interesting advanced tech if you like the really deep stuff (plinking in to Ex Fireball from reg Fireball to increase move pushback and safety causing certain things to whiff that normall should).. At his absolute worst hes a top 5 character and at his realistic hes top 2-3.
Vega is another character that wears many hats. At heart though, hes a mix of space control and measured aggression with a decent side of setups and such.Dhalsim has always looked cool to me and I do love controlling that space plus the teleport shenanigan look super fun. Wow that sounds like a pretty cool character to play. That stance stuff always sounds harder to keep track of than it actually is. Is that the case for Vega?Vega is another character that wears many hats. At heart though, hes a mix of space control and measured aggression with a decent side of setups and such.
Vega is a 'stance' character of a sort. Claw on and off. Claw on is your space control and 'zoning' stance. You're trading combo damage and pressure for longer range pokes and his swipe specials which are 'meh'. They can do interesting things but are very situational, though the LP swipe is a low and a lot of people dont realize that.
Claw off has great normals and lets you really pressure with great combo damage, and a lot of opportunity to apply it. He's plus on St.mp, cr.mp, st. and cr. jab, and cr.mk. He has great frame traps using cr.jab into cr.mp off his other medium normals or jabs. They will combo on CH and its not hard to fish for those. He gains a TC that will whiff on crouchers, but is reasonably safe on block and leads to metric shit-ton of damage, or less damage and his V-Skill. Claw off you rush down and convert your meter in to damage, or use it for various setups involving ambiguous ex wall dives off CC sweeps and certain setups. Ie, you can combo in to ex wall dive if you have VTrigger on deck, use the air hits instead of the grab, land, Vtrigger them as they come down, then Ex wall dive again, making it a meaty cross-up on their wake up and done right it can be super ambiguous. Even if not, you're plus if they block, letting you continue. I mean, its two meters and a lot of work, but its a LOT of damage.. and its just an example. He has lots of fun stuff off your wall dives.. Roll on landing for a meaty side switch, various crossup setups, etc. Vega also gets a command grab to replace his swipes when you go claw-off. Ex has a lot of range and given your + on block normals, setting up ticks isnt terrible hard. His meter is better used damage-wise in combos, but establishing the threat of that grab makes your pressure all the harder to deal with.
He has a 3f normal, st.lk, in either stance.
For the most part, Vega wants to spend his time in claw-off, as it has more tangible rewards but needs meter to thrive. A lot of people play him by starting in Claw-on (You always do) and poking and prodding, then swapping over as they see fit. Vs some characters you typically want to keep claw on, Gief being an example, though if you get a HKD, you can absolutely claw-off and bully him.
Vega is an interesting character in that he can play, and play effectively in a lot of ways. If you want a handful of Vega players you see a handful of styles. Rom likes to stay claw-on and poke/counter poke, playing a slow, careful game. Flash loves his setups and tricks - like a meaty, invisible crossup CA on wakeup. (its a thing of beauty to see.) Nemo is pressure and solid footsies, on and on. There is overlap in playstyles obviously but Vega has some of the largest wiggle room to 'play your way' amongst the cast.
I would consider him one of the strongest non-top tier characters in the game. He lacks an invincible reversal of any kind and his V-reversal isnt great. You can use his Vtrigger has a means of escape from pressure as a degree but its not perfect and typically you need space, time, or a normal to throw it behind. All things you're going to lack in good pressure... However, as a pre-emptive defensive measure its actually good. I have the best success with it using it before Im getting my ass destroyed in the corner, to avoid the situation happening all together. I can literally hear the the tears hitting thr ground whenever a gief has finally backed me in to the corner and is about to go to work when I vtrigger the fuck back across the screen and he has to start the walk-down all over again. It also converts in to damage and can punish fireballs, but its air arc is bizarre and it doesnt work that well unless you're in the right place at the right time.
Honestly, I was about done with SFV until I discovered Vega. He alone makes me hate this game marginally less.
I could probably deal with it if the plane didn't go to a full 45 degree angle at certain times. It's trippy as shit.
Its really not bad on Vega, his stances dont massively change him as a character, just his punching normals and the swipes/vs command grab. I still get confused sometimes, but mostly because I screw something up. Vega has combos in to stance changes, then continuing, and occasionally those mix me up a little, an example being st.fp x claw off x cr.mp x roll/ex wall dive. He also has a combo my brain will not let me do, where you counter hit a st.fp with the claw off.. so its CH st.fp x claw on x st.fp x claw off x cr.mp x roll/ex wall. Something about the double stance change makes my brain say fuck this, Im checking out somewhere in the middle, just mash and hope.Wow that sounds like a pretty cool character to play. That stance stuff always sounds harder to keep track of than it actually is. Is that the case for Vega?
Fang is awesome. He's my favorite character from a design standpoint. He's just not very good right now.Lol okay then I might need to take a look at him. Anyone have any info on FANG? I rarely hear anything about this guy.
You would have to ask @buyacushun I know he uses FANG.Lol okay then I might need to take a look at him. Anyone have any info on FANG? I rarely hear anything about this guy.
