Street Fighter V General Discussion

It's all so very confusing.
Ive been watching Rom's channel since he was playing Hugo in IV, lol. He's really good and he plays a very 'honest' and meticulous game, his approach his applicable for anyone learning V imo, even if Ibuki isnt your character. He's just game-smart and believes in calculated and intelligent play. Sadly that makes him lose to yolowtf stuff on occasion, lol, but hes one of the better Ibukis we have IMO.

I should be actually getting this game any moment now. You'll have scrubby ass me getting into the thick of it. I still haven't decided who I should start with.
Yayyyy. And try Ryu is the normal advice. See how u like playing him and go from there.

Dhalsim has always looked cool to me and I do love controlling that space plus the teleport shenanigan look super fun. The kind of zany and unpredictable play I enjoy sometimes. Urien interests me because I LOVE the character. But a character I don't know much about is Vega, care to elaborate on how he functions?
He's very cool and better than he's been in a long time. The reason you don't see as many dhalsim players is that he does have a slightly higher execution barrier than the average character.

Lol okay then I might need to take a look at him. Anyone have any info on FANG? I rarely hear anything about this guy.
I play some fang. He's a very good technical character. He's a charge character which some ppl just do not like. His main fault comes from a numbers standpoint. His damage is lacking and his poison mechanic is supposed to compensate but really doesnt.

Pretty cool meaty with Guile:

cr.mp on counterhit is only +5 which is not enough to link another cr.mp. Obviously, that's on the first active frame so if you hit it meaty it becomes advantageous enough to link another cr.mp (so it's +6). After Heavy Trash Kick in the corner, you immediately whiff a cr.mk then instantly do cr.mp. This works against back roll. If you think the opponent will just quick get up then I believe you can just swap out the whiffed cr. mk for a whiffed st. lk and that does the trick. If they normal get up, then you'll need to react and go manual because I haven't looked at that yet as I just manually do it for that lol.

Idk I thought it was pretty neat, I normally just do it by eye tbh.

Wasn't there some new tech with a really meaty cr. Hp on wake up linking into cr. Mp?

I usually do standing mp on their wakeup because it's just so advantageous.

Yeah I saw ISDD using it after an air flip out which I thought was pretty crazy.

I also use st. mp but I've just never seen cr.mp link into itself before. Just thought I'd share because it's pretty cool lol.

about those Ono hints... could it be ???

some people were saying that the other thing that blanka has in it's pockets, it's a Sagat tease on the Asia minors.... pls....

Eh, people do love the shotos. I remember playing USF4 online in 2014 and a good 75% of the matches was me fighting Ryu, Ken, Akuma or just about any of the other shotos. It makes me wonder if the people that complain about pretty much any fighting game released these days that has a roster of less than 35 characters being "too small" even bother using at least half the characters even if the roster was bigger.

I hadn't heard any other teases? Can you elaborate a little more?
Before the Akuma tease, Ono showed a pic with the little Blanka toy sayigng that he has "somethings", in his pockets, Akuma was announced, and later at the same day, he said that Blanka still has "something", in his pockets, the next torunament before CPT is the Asia minor, and the Tiger vs Dragon pic was leaked alongside a "moon" pic, Akuma's stage was the moon (apparently), nobody knows what the Dragon vs Tiger means.... hype ?

sagat doesn't play like a shoto though. Having fireballs and an uppercut doesn't mean the characters are the same. Kara cancels ftw.
this... poison has a fireball and a dp, and she's not a shoto... Sagat is a Muay Thai fighter, he's not even a shoto by definition of the word....

Interesting.

I have faith that its Decapre, even though that has nothing to do with anything that's been leaked or released. Yes. De.Cap.Re.
