Street Fighter V General Discussion

As much as I dislike shazzy he's right.

Plus on block divekicks have always been a thing, and kens costs a bar. It's not even close to op.

The best defense really is a good offense in this game

you do know that juris dash is 16 frames and that in v trigger it's both faster AND travels more distance than necallis v trigger dash. Right?

Also learn what a vortex is. Or explain to me what these high damage looping mixups are.

I disagree, SF 5 is a game that rewards both defensive play and offensive play. You can play either and your skill will determine who wins, as opposed to something like mkx, where it's really tailored to offensive players. Don't want to make comparisons but just as an example sonicfox uses fang real offensively in this game while xian uses a more defensive fang, and xian has placed much much much better with his style of play.

what's the magic spacing where you have to block the first hit?

if the ken player doesnt space it right looks like to me it goes straight over your head otherwise i'm always in the undisguised ex divekick zone. this is your own personal problem and not why ken needs nerfs
You're never forced to block the first hit. When did I say that? The reason ex divekick works at a high level is because you are looking for so many things at once that you can't never react to it while playing neutral. If you are just looking for a jump, yeah you can deal with it, but Ken has so many options on the ground that you can't look for that all the time.

theres more to the fireball game than just throwing plasma as fast as you can. There are a bunch of little things you can do to get an edge on your opponent and timing is pretty important it's harder than most people realize. When I'm beating you with fireballs it's because I'm using other techniques to compensate for my fireball being worse. Ryu can beat guile in a fireball war but only if the players aren't of equal skill. going purely off frame data guile wins but the frame data doesn't always decide everything.

Just work on your fireball game and don't get frustrated. You'll get there.
What things?

GG's from last night. Did you notice i hit you with cr.mk and you still hit me back before i recovered -_-

i understand how divekick works and how players use it effectively. i'm not saying it's trash.

on the other hand you started this out by saying "ken gets free plus frames antiairs arent even that good" and now your tune is at a high level, players arent predictible in footsies so it be comes more difficult to react to" that doesnt sound like something described as free nor does that have anything to do with how effective antiairs are at doing their jobs

calling it op is ridiculous but you can at least make valid points as you do so. there aren't reall any outside of personal struggle so i guess thats why

guiles cr mk is only plus one on hit. So if I jab after I'll trade or beat any normal you throw out if it's close, if it's from far out I can cr jab or cr strong to contest your buttons pretty easily.

As for the little things going on in the fireball game there are a lot. Pretty much all of them have to do with which speed you're using, the distance, how you spend your meter, and when/how you choose to jump or approach during the time between fireballs.

Well, of course I'm talking about high level play. Isn't that what we're talking about in these forums? Training mode does not equate to the real flow of a match.

You're right though, it's not free plus frames. There is some prediction and spacing involved. It's very strong though.

@Sutter Pain I think the last patch messed with the servers which is why our connection is almost unplayable. Your Gief is fun to fight tho so I don't mind.
Yeah i have been saying the same since the juri patch connections have been much less stable I don't know what the deal is. It wasn't so bad today but last time we played it was much worse. Gief is getting there just need more time and exp, ggs.
