Street Fighter V General Discussion

This character is now the embodiment of filth(starts at 15:30) :

They didn't just make my long time main better in every way, they made him better in ways that directly appeal to my preferred way of playing.

I'm in heaven.

They really made the impacts on all of his hits feel heavy as hell.

Yeah I always thought Balrog was a boring ass character. But capcom even managed to make him silly enough to be interesting. So many people about to get destroyed by rush punch cancels at EVO.

Pterodactyl

Plus on block.
Eh, he's about as exciting at base and literally every other SFII character IMO.

The start of his evolution into this nasty fucker he is right now began in SF4 though, to be fair, so he did have a long stretch where he was a bit too straight forward for people compared to say, Dudley.

I hope people still dislike him or whatever, I love it when only a few people actually play my main, that means people have less experience with the match up and I don't have to worry about those despised mirror matches as much.

Hey everyone! Tomorrow, we will release a major new update for Street Fighter V. The update will include a ton of new content, including the highly-anticipated cinematic story mode titled “A Shadow Falls” as well as the next two characters to join the roster: Ibuki and Balrog. The story mode will be available to all players as free downloadable content, and all released post-launch characters can be purchased using in-game earned Fight Money or real currency. Hit the jump for the full breakdown of content.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Cinematic Story Mode

The Cinematic Story Mode must be downloaded as a separate update from the PS Store or Steam Store. All players will have to first patch Street Fighter V with the 1.04 update by logging into CFN and then download the Cinematic Story Mode update for it to be accessible in the game.

Server Maintenance

We will be conducting server maintenance starting June 30th at 14:00 PT / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CET with the update going live on July 1st at 00:00 PT (midnight) / 08:00 BST / 09:00 CET.

“A Shadow Falls”

The Street Fighter V cinematic story expansion is divided into five acts and takes place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III, bridging the events that happen in between the two stories. “A Shadow Falls,” depicts the ultimate battle between the evil Shadaloo organization and the heroic World Warriors who rise up against them. As the story unfolds, players will enter battles using each of the core 16 characters, in addition to the 6 (released and unreleased) 2016 DLC characters, each with their own unique contribution to the epic clash. “A Shadow Falls” is free content available to all players and it marks the first time in franchise history that consumers will be able to play through this type of cinematic experience in a Street Fighter game. The epic battle between good and evil begins soon… who will RISE UP?

Balrog

Announced earlier this week, Balrog is one of the most iconic characters in Street Fighter history, first appearing as a boss character in Street Fighter II. He’s always been one of the most vicious characters to ever appear in the series, using his devastating boxing style and questionable tactics to do whatever it takes to win a fight. Balrog’s playstyle in Street Fighter V puts the focus on his powerful punches, and with the use of his V-Trigger, he can chain these attacks together to deal some serious damage.

Ibuki

Also being added to the SFV roster, Ibuki is a very tricky, technical character with loads of new ninjutsu tricks up her sleeve. Ibuki is a mobile character with various target combos, but now she has even more ways to mix-up the opponent with the ability to glide through the air and toss out ninja bombs, making it very difficult to predict where she will land and where her next attack will come from.

In addition to “A Shadow Falls” and the next two characters, the update will also include:

  • New stages – Balrog’s Las Vegas stage and Karin’s Kanzuki Family Private Beach stage are brand new and will be available to purchase using Fight Money or real currency. Additionally, three new alternate stage options will become available.

  • New costume options – Premium Battle Costumes for all 20 released characters, as well as Karin’s Premium Summer Costume, will be available to purchase using real currency. Balrog and Ibuki’s Story Costumes will be purchasable using either Fighter Money or real currency.
  • In-game Currency Shop – The in-game store will be upgraded with the PlayStation Store and Steam real money purchase options, for their respective platform. For players who want to purchase content like new characters, stages and costumes outright without using Fight Money, the process will be familiar with purchases happening through the established first party infrastructures.
  • Matchmaking improvements – Faster and smarter matching, resulting in higher quality matches and a better online experience overall.
The pricing for the extra Street Fighter V content is as follows:

Fight Money Real Currency

New Characters 100,000 $ 5.99 / € 5.99 / £ 4.99

New Stages 70,000 $ 3.99 / € 3.99 / £ 3.29

Alternate Stages 40,000 $ 1.99 / € 1.99 / £ 1.69

Story Costumes 40,000 $ 1.99 / € 1.99 / £ 1.69

Premium Costumes (Battle and Summer) ---------- $ 3.99 / € 3.99 / £ 3.29

I kinda just want to auto-pilot a bit in this game after using F.A.NG and I hope Ibuki provides some of that. You don't beat your opponent with F.A.N.G, you beat your opponent at SFV because the character brings next to nothing to the table

[Passive Aggression]
Here I'll start, F.A.N.G. could use a sweep buff. Ok your turn.
F.A.N.G could use an everything buff. He just has a bunch of cool stuff in general that you can't even use against anyone but Zangief

His sweep has a dodgy hitbox, it's his only low threat, tons of recovery and it has to move his hurtbox forwards just for the sake of it. When I got SFV I thought I was getting 16 characters out of the box not 15.5

Does anyone know if they'll remove DLC characters story, survival, and trial modes if you haven't purchased them? I'm doing those for guile and alex just in case.

I thought he was boring in SF4 too. SFxT Steve was the best boxer style Capcom ecer did imo. And I'm glad that game is another influence on SFV. What do you think his defensive moves will be since v-reversal is the headbutt. I'm thinking he won't have any either and his armor will come out on frame 3 like most of the others.

Lol at saying I was being passive aggressive. That was me telling you to learn to anti air. And since you like talking about other players I offered to bring footage of other players using anti airs.

This is the first time you actually managed to articulate meaningful thoughts. You still coupled it with stuff like "everything buff" and saying "15.5 characters" but . . . F.A.N.G only needs a hitbox fix on his sweep. The recovery and moving his hurtbox is fine. All sweeps are unsafe and his reaches probably the farthest so quickly. Idk what's touching you to beat sweep but he's got other buttons to press if you're that close. Sweeping won't ever be unsafe. That seems to be a conscious cast wise decision.

I'd like some of his hurtbox stuff changed but see it happening with either MP or HP.

dont worry all his rush punches are punishable, he's not as broken as the current gameplay makes him look.
Where are you getting that info? SF4?

I think it was said that they were -4 and the distance seemed to be just inside sweep range.

Lol it looks like a s.lk punish for gief.
save your meter and super punish. And can't you stand lk into lariat? Do you get a setup after that?

Also since he's minus 4 you could skip the punish and go for shenanigans like jab into spd or just pressure up close. Seems like it won't too bad of a matchup for gief.

Lariat will not work unless he is right next to you, if I am right about the small amount of pushback then that will not work.

Edit: Just going to try and Vskll it if I am fast enough.

Balrogs st.hp being -1, his corner carry, the V-skill cancel mix-ups off dash punches in 8f of lag and the safe ex fullscreen low dash punch is making me sick already.

There's a bunch of stuff about him here if you just can't wait to see what Capcom is prepared to give some characters. Even has a 3f normal just to screw F.A.N.G over

Where there is smoke, there is cancer.
Honestly, any place within a mile of any SFV tournament venue should have to close down on the days of competition if they sell chips. It's just too risky.
