Not being able to vortex someone to death isn't necessarily a bad thing. Imposter's only truly bad stolen move is Jason's Armor bs. Everything else at least has a use or can be burnt and since b3 is easily punished by most of the cast, I hardly think of him as a vortex character to begin with.I'd be inclined to agree if he vortexed everybody but since he doesn't I think he's too matchup dependent to be the best variation. That and his meter building isn't great and his teleport not being that fast doesn't help either. Why do you think it's the best?
Negative. Let the Blood God players have that when they damage totem so they feel like they're doing something spectacular. We need buffs in the proper areas.DR do you think Shinnok needs a sexy screen shake buff?
Never said it was a bad thing, I just don't think that he's as effective in matchups where he can't vortex the opponent. I just think Bone Shaper just does well in more matchups. And B3 being punishable doesn't make his vortex less of a vortex lol.Not being able to vortex someone to death isn't necessarily a bad thing. Now, about his meter building...
That is a chunk of meter to build off of one exchange that is all guaranteed AND he's left at plus 14, meaning he can at least HS or f2 check most of the cast to continue pressure and/or chip for more meter.
So, I have to totally disagree with you and say he hands down has the best meter building of all the variations and since this character is so meter dependent, that's a great thing.
Lastly, teleport is essentially that, a teleport. You should never just throw it out there willy-nilly. Using it to catch someone off guard or in block pressure is where it should always be used and that's it. Also, it can be cancelled off whiffed normals so it's not a bad practice to jump around whiffing normals and canceling into teleport from time to time as this gimmick falls into the category of "catching people off guard." I hardly if ever just tele in the neutral now as I realize competent opponents will have an answer but using it sparingly has its perks.

Lol, ok. I forgot I'm campaigning for more buffs.Never said it was a bad thing, I just don't think that he's as effective in matchups where he can't vortex the opponent. I just think Bone Shaper just does well in more matchups. And B3 being punishable doesn't make his vortex less of a vortex lol.
"Hands down has the best meter building of all the variations" is a bit of an overexaggeration. Bone Shaper doesn't need to open you up to build meter since he can just sit back and throw out BF1s (and very rarely hell sparks against those who have trouble punishing them from a distance) and stay safe with F4/F31D2s whereas what you're showing there requires you to actually get a combo going with Impostor in the first place to guarantee the chip followup. Even then anything after the tele j1 isn't even Impostor specific so I don't see how that gives Impostor a level of meter building so outwith the area of meter building of the other two.
Also neither hell sparks nor F2 are guaranteed followup options, never mind the fact mb hellsparks pushes the opponent so far back now that you can't guarantee any followup, so that doesn't really mean much and followups from mb hellsparks aren't Impostor specific. The only thing he has that builds meter that's significantly different from the other two is J4~tele~j1~string instead of just a string (and the teleport itself but you're not exactly going to be doing a bunch of teleports for meter building). I'm also not sure how you catch someone out with a 27 frame move but alright.
Since I'm one of those guys that plays like 90% of the cast I've been playing around with him in the lab/at my local/a little bit online (I still don't like playing online much though even though the netcode is better) to see what he's capable of now next to both Bone Shaper and Necromancer too (although I'll always be a Necro main even to the bottom of the garbage pile.....again). Fortunately some people aren't aware that only one jump attack jails into tele~jump attack and that only j1 jails after a j4~tele so I've been getting away with stuff thus far but I'm not taking that into account much since I know I'm getting away with gimmicks. It's just a shame that the rest of TYM also thinks all/most of it jails and that's why people think he's top 5 right now -_- If I had to pick the longest set I played recently it was against an A-List a couple of days ago as Impostor and I don't like that matchup because A. you steal shadow kick and there's no safe way to whiff it so you're forced to get rid of it in a combo usually instead of getting vortex, B. Any Cage that knows the matchup will keep themselves at the right spacing and shadow kick hell sparks on reaction which makes meter building more difficult since using hell sparks is a risk, C. Cage's standing 1 is a godlike anti-air so it's a no-no on teleports even on reaction to him throwing a fireball because he somehow still recovers in time to hit you out of it. One saving grace I've found is that even though his fireballs are fast they're still slow enough that from further away you can usually absorb them with BF1 on reaction to build some meter lol.Lol, ok. I forgot I'm campaigning for more buffs.
Curious, what experience do you have with post patch Imposter?
So if you don't have extensive time with him, how can you say that Bone Shaper is definitely better? You admit you play 90% of the cast as opposed to me now playing Shinnok exclusively.Since I'm one of those guys that plays like 90% of the cast I've been playing around with him in the lab/at my local/a little bit online (I still don't like playing online much though even though the netcode is better) to see what he's capable of now next to both Bone Shaper and Necromancer too (although I'll always be a Necro main even to the bottom of the garbage pile.....again). How can you say Impostor is definitely better if you don't play Bone Shaper? That argument works both ways. I play a lot of the cast and don't just lab them and go, I try and put in enough time with them too to be able to form an opinion that comes from matchup experience and character knowledge, not just lab time and theory fighting. Shinnok is a character I happen to spend more time with since I like Necromancer but also enjoy playing the other two as well. I don't put in equal time with everyone. So if you don't have extensive time with him, how can you say that Bone Shaper is definitely better? Also, I too have a lot of experience against A-List (EVB_Vendetta) but that's for another time about how you should approach that match up...
Finally, he's definitely not top 5 though, that we can at least agree on so buffs are still welcome.

My bad, I thought you said Impostor."... I play Shinnok exclusively."

I play all of Shinnok's variations, not just Imposter and have for nearly this game's lifespan. With one bar of meter stocked to begin with, considering Imposter builds 3/4 a bar on average per blocked exchange (which is guaranteed after Mimicry and does massive chip damage, 12.01% or 12.84% with a gap) as opposed to Bone Shaper building 1/2 a bar (7.23% or 7.63% depending on string and never guaranteed), I really don't understand the comparison here.
But I digress, I'll leave you to thinking BS is where it's at because of a projectile and advancing, armored launcher. I feel you're theory fighting more than anything so I'll agree to disagree. Bone Shaper is a shell of what he once was. Imposter is where it's at.
actually....if you do f22~mb hellsparks with impostor, you can do a run cancel into d1 and itll jail, you have to have good timing...but its definitely possible. you can do the same with f4 but its even more tight.Never said it was a bad thing, I just don't think that he's as effective in matchups where he can't vortex the opponent. couldnt you do d4 into hellsparks after if you mb the first spark? no, d4 won't work, its too slow and doesnt reach. only d1 and f4 will work, and f4 can work but its a bit more difficult than d1 because it doesnt quite have as much range and its 1 frame slower.couldnt you do d4 into hellsparks after if you mb the first spark? Also wouldnt f4 work if you run cancel?
I have a fuck ton!Alright people let's talk chip set-ups for a second.
I have no idea how much 312xxShoulder does after mimicry...it's a lot I know that much - enough to close a round. BUT, I've been messing around with some stuff. For example, after mimicry:
JI4xxJIP, 312xxHS (MB the 2nd) = about 12.81% chip for a bar.
Forceball will jail into the same thing for around 14-15% chip.
Cassie's chip set-up is atrocious. JI4xxJIp, 312xxGuns is somewhere around 17-18%. Maybe more, I didn't take the calculator to it.
So that's all fun. I've been meaning to test more. I forget if Jax can punish a stolen straight dash punch but if he can't that would probably jail after a MB 2nd spark for additional chip.
Anywho just throwing this here because knowledge is power if anyone else has any disgusting chip set-ups - share!
Bruh Imposter is the bees knees! Peeps don't know how to guess. Bone Shaper to me will always be fundamentally solid but there's nothing fancy about it - it just has the tools to play the game is all.I have a fuck ton!
... But Bone Shaper is where it's at so I'll hold on to my fraudulent set ups because Imposter isn't that great.
........ But that hasn't stopped the campaign to make the Netherrealm great again behind the scenes. Things are happening. BIG things.
