Says the mirrors I had with pig on his stream earlier today.

He will be good with Kano when he learns combos. His fundamentals and zoning/spacing will make for a great Kano.
Yeah i hope pig sticks to kano seems like a good fit more than reptile pig just doesn't seem like a reptile player to me

Dude, I don't know enough - I was only an amateur Kano player. I knew he was pretty solid, but in your honest opinion gods of the Kano board, did he really need db1 to be -5 lol

Db1 being -5 is great but not an overpowered tool and looking back, it now helps him build meter which is kind of a big deal considering its an area where he struggles/struggled, the nerf to meter build could've hit him hard. His damage is great but comes at a cost (Hp/meter). His footsies are goooood but no move is insta win or all purpose. His corner game is op but that's every character in this game. Very little is guaranteed except in the corner (for instance slice restand midscreen into followup can be backdashed). Ex knives have whiff issues (on all strings except b121).

He's dirty and crazy strong but not top 5. Arguably top 10, definetly top 15.

I'm sure he has a reason, it just may not be one everyone agrees with.
thats not what I was laughing at, obviously it would take a special kind of idiot to agree with all his balancing decisions, but thats a given

what i was laughing at is just the concept that he doesn't nerf things after he buffs them

just look at Quan Chi for example, or Shinnok

I think cutthroat kano is top 5 i mean do i have to mention all the tools he has safe fast 50/50s good mids good armor good damage good pokes etc cutthroat doesnt lack anything that other top tiers have yes some character outrange kano but then kano has advantage in other areas.

Cutthroat is just as good as takeda sonya jax kun jin and i think he is better than mileena and johhny so i just cant see why cutthroat isnt top 5

Wait are you placing Takeda sonya Jax kung Jin over Johnny and mileena?

I'm thinking about learning Kano, but I'm doubting between cyber and cutthroat. Someone gives a quick comparison, pros/cons?

I don't know what it is, but I'm just bad. I sat in practice for a good bit yesterday, then went to try some online play. Went 1-10 in public and just felt awful. Should I just sit in practice mode more? Just feels really really disheartening. I was barely able to pull off the F212 kano ball. I guess a start is a start but idk...

You're missing tech.

Every character has a universal piece of knowledge that once you know it, you can better play the character.

With Kotal Kahn, its go neutral before his F2 or B1 in any combo. With Kano, I'm sure its something else.

I'm curious as to how beneficial the buff truly is.

I just activated it and counted how much damage it did. 0.5% was taken off 30 times, so 15%.

Then I looked at some easy to land combos (because strict timing corner juggles are less likely to work online with lag, etc). The typical difference looked like this;

-f212-(juggle)212-f4 (23% unbuffed/ 30% buffed)

So about 7% extra damage to your opponent, in exchange for 15% damage to yourself. And you could be hit before you even land a combo, so the damage you take could be for nothing.

Ex Buff doesn't hurt, but is it worth burning meter for the buff and an EX Blade juggle (such as 121-db1-mb-212) for only about 7% extra damage, when that bar could be saved for a wake up reversal or ex-k-balling through a close range Sub Zero hiding behind an ice clone (or similar scenario).

Without a major life lead, the buff seems to encourage reckless play on our parts, desperate to get in before too much damage is done. If I'm missing something and the buff is actually really useful, please tell me. Right now the risk doesn't appear worth the award.
Can it be done mid combo? I think that's where it would shine, in finishing one combo and still lingering on wake-up.

Why people claim that his footsies were great is beyond me. In a game were many characters have safe advancing mids that are hitconfirmable and lead to big damage (Kotal, Shinnok, Alien, Cassie, Takeda, Jax, and many others), I'd say that his footsie game is his weak spot. Especially once people start punishing the f2-string with their fast high-hitting moves.

Kano has to help himself with jump-in/roll, d4/d4-slice, dash and other shenaningans to even get in. This is were he has a 50% chance of doing damage. At the same time many other characters ignore footsies, begin their offense from halfscreen and just hitconfirm their advancing mids into pretty much the same damage.

Getting a stupid 50/50 is the reward for having successfully played a footsie game before.

Kano is strong, but not for his braindead offense that is way harder to apply than people claim it was. His real strength comes from his defense and his great mobility.

F2 is a safe advancing mid, that leads to a full combo (meterless) if you confirm it.
