This thread is depressing, MKX is super fun ofc we know it has it's flaws but let's not bash the game and

Like even with all the bullshit it's an incredibly fun game, honestly this thread is just putting a huge downer on MKX.
honestly, there is only a small list of things i could change about MKX and it's not with its gameplay or mechanics..


id add features to the practice mode.


id love for it to list:


  • Cancel adv on block
  • Cancel adv on hit,
one moves cancel adv with all normals, when you scroll over a normal, it could list the 6-7 specials that could be canceled and what the Cancel adv is.

  • Hitboxes could have a option to be view-able in practice.
you know stuff like that.


and some game mode features.

  • bring Tag Kombat back
Ranked could have several different options such as:

  • FT3 ranked
  • FT5 ranked
  • FT10 ranked
  • FT3KOTH
  • FT5KOTH
  • FT1KOTH as normal. for those who want quick matches.
on the record i Love Mortal Kombat XL or i wouldn't play it or write on this forum.

@tylerlansdown think any of these are possible to come in MKXL's future, i knwo ill have at least a good 6 years on this game. nice job BTW on MKXL

4.) Vortexes / Setplay

5.) Almost half screen advancing normals

6.) Full screen advancing strings

7.) Around +8 or more Combo Launchers on block

8.) The jumping

9.) The lack of consistent anti-airs among the entire cast with no resource

10.) Auto correcting Dive Kicks / air special attacks

11.) Being able to do an air special attack in recovery after whiffing a Jump Attack

12.) Jailing / Loopable pressure

13.) Normals or melee attacks that have ZERO hurtboxes and cannot be traded with or whiff punished optimally

14.) Safe Armor Launchers

15.) Fast Half Screen Armor Launchers

16.) Massive low profiling

17.) Command Grabs that tick off fast and far advancing mids

18.) Command Grabs that are hard to punish on whiff

19.) 4 Felicia ass guest characters
20.) high reward stuff that is safe or plus on block
21.) IA NJP
22.) Command grabs do way too much damage and the recovery on whiff is not that bad on some of them, not to mention some tick off dumb ass normals. I firmly believe NRS should give up trying to make grapplers, I knew this since Bane happened to the humanity.
I hope you two are not talking about Kano Commando. He is a fair grappler and his ticks moves are noticeable. He is the premier grappler and his damage is fair. You can whiff my grabs if you jump, backdash, or kneel on reactaion. Plus, the tick string f3,3 is reactable. I can fake you out by choke if you try to jump or Kano ball if you backdash.

His ticks off b1 is reactable unless I place. B1,3 into it to throw you off. His d4 tick is good with nice range, probably more tricky to react from to whiff this. Jump in 4 grab is a funny tick, but just be aware a grab is coming off this.

Oh yeah and special cancel low pokes, another thing that looks bad to me. Shit like d4 orbit hat makes me cringe.
I d4 and poke into command grab on people. LOL! I know right?? But they have to be blocking for it to work with Command grabs, so it's all good.
 
23. We got rid of Quan, only to meet a DLC character with the exact same thing.

24. We got rid of Tanya only to meet a DLC character with the exact same thing.
This frustrates me more than anything else on the OP's list. Shamelessly broken DLC to drive sales.

I hope you two are not talking about Kano Commando. He is a fair grappler and his ticks moves are noticeable. He is the premier grappler and his damage is fair. No character should have a mix-up off a fast advancing mid IMO. Him and Kotal -_- also he got a projectile, idk why a grappler should have one but NRS has a weird way to design grapplers for some reason.

was that covert ops, cuz if so, that player was bad, she didn't even have to MS to make the truly hard guess game.

if at any point he block one thing right. she was full combo punishable. lets just say i would have destroyed that sonya play, no offense... and im sure that sonya wasn't playing at his/her full potential, because really, that player didn't seem to even know where the block button was...
lol that was practice mode. can't believe you didn't realize it...

1. Any far advancing string being mid...
2. D4's being almost impossible to wiff punish by the cast.
3. Lack of Anti air options across the board, including the scaled damage opposed to a jump in attack.
4. Safe 50/50's.
5. NJP's being safe and overhead on the way down. Surly it should be safe on the up because its mid, and punishable on the way down at its OH??
6. Horrific lack of mids vs everyone having an 8 frame poke somewhere.
7. Disturbing lack of defensive designed characters.
8. Health regeneration moves being in the game but being sooooo weak that they are useless.
9. Two or three characters having double or tripley good mid options while others have none.
10. Random dishing out of weak and strong uppercuts before the game could even be played. Uppercuts should be universal, same as throws.
11. Lack of X-Ray's that recapture the opponent. IMO, all X-Rays should re-stand with advantage, giving them a strong presence in the game.
12. Characters with excellent normals also having excellent armoured options.
13. Any armoured move being safe.
14. Serious amount of low profiling
15. Hard to blockable's, and lack of reward for blocking them. (Props is not enough)
16. Pokes being special cancellable.
17. Block stun on punishable moves.
18. Auto block post certain strings and specials.
19. Command grabs that cannot be crouched or NJP'd as they start up too fast for reactions.
That's why NRS has to stop getting tournament players to help create movesets and test the game during development. Tournament players should be banned from having any input on NRS games during development, testing and patching.

If Injustice Gods Among Us 2 is the next NRS project then they really need to drop that "hold back to block" crap and those horrible slow walk speeds. For Injustice 2 just gives us a block button, MK9 walk speed, a run option without costing stupid stamina, and make all specials and combos punishable on block and no fuzzyguarding either, you block high or low and suffer the wrong choice. Ridiculous how everybody's goal is to try and remain safe 99% of the time. It's a fighting video game for god's sake, swing for the fences and lose big or win big.

i think they should have an option on injustice to switch in menu button settings, RT to block or back to block.

but i wouldn't change it.. that may be a reason why alot play injustice is they like the game mechanics on it better.

I didn't think I needed to clarify that either.

The elitist SF mindset is flawed because MK is much truer to real fighting, not in a literal sense - but figuratively.

All the "dirt" makes MK more like real fighting. SF may be more like chess, although fencing seems closer to SF, but it sure as hell isn't more like real fighting.

The dirt makes it more real.
Since when are Anti airs, wake up attacks, special attacks and blocking weapons like a real fight.

I'm sorry but there is too much difference for me to take you seriously. Fighting games are not "good" cause they are like real fights.

SF has perfected the "art" of the VIDEO GAME fighter and every other fighter gets compared to it. This is a silly argument

Two things are seriously eluding many posters in this thread...

Now, I'm not the greatest player here, but I'm not the worst anymore either. I'm a good step behind players like I am the LK (or Anec Nhoj) and guys like Forever Elite, but the cpu is free to me on very hard - so my level of knowledge is well beyond the basics, but I'm less knowledgeable than the elite. I have no agenda though. I'm not looking for nerfs or buffs. I just say what I think. To me, the game is what it is - and I think that its great. My favorite is Sun God and when they buffed him, I thought that was nice - and they nerfed him and I thought, no big deal. Whatever NRS decides to do, I'm OK with. They brought me my favorite game. I can be expected to troll whining and point out any foolishness...

You make an argument removed from my previous visuals.

If I threw a front kick and you were ready for it, you might act differently according to your training. Someone untrained might flee or try to block it down, not knowing that the front kick was only for visual purposes and it was really a sweep. Someone versed in Shaolin Kung Fu would know to either jump away, spin step with their back leg, or simply shift their stance by throwing their back knee. Someone versed in Tai Chi would redirect with a spin or a turn. Someone versed in Krav Mga would sit into and elbow and look to shoulder the sweep. A boxer would either step back or sidestep into a hook or jab. A Wing Chun specialist would look to check the sweep with their knee and inner-thigh to redirect their center-line until his opponent's center no longer matches his.

My point is, there is an awful lot to think about in real fighting. There is an awful lot to think about in MKX. In SF, outside of the tiny bit of dirt which is cross-ups - what else is there to think about?

Frame Data? Simple. Movement? Simple. Blocking? Simple.

With MKX, you have a lot more to think about. All that "dirt" just shines.

In real fighting, you had better be able to protect your vitals, get to safety when in trouble, and have something very special on tap for when you need it. They are called fighting games after all. Dismissing the connection completely is foolish. The fighting part is what makes them so intriguing.

I don't like the "we" in the title,yes you are entitled to your opinion but don't include everyone in the hate rant.I don't think there is any game that is perfect but in my opinion MKX is the best damn mortal kombat to be released and the fact that NRS has been supporting it and released a KP2 is great support.Just my opinion though.

Think about what you just said. having the option to change from Back to Block or Block button. Just think about that for a bit.

NRS has no concept of risk reward. All characters have something to throw out with little to no risk. Stupid advancing strings, 50/50s, ground normals having no priority over air attacks, etc.
 
Its a new mechanic implemented in MK XL that makes your hitspark going red instead of usually white if you punish any move in the game, most of the time, its masked by the blood stain on its own, so no wonder you've never seen it.
Yeah - I was stoked to hear about this on the stream but have yet to see it. Wish we had the No Blood code back

I hate that NRS combined It'sJustAss and MK9. They should have just made a more improved MK9, and I'm not the only one who feels that way
As one guy said in other thread, NRS took the worst from Injustass, Batgirl's 50/50s, and put it everywhere in MKX :(. Then we have the advancing normals ala Superman's F2 :(. At least there is an improved netcode :)... but not on PC :(.

omg did i word that incorrectly, get over it. i don't play injustice.. didn't like back to block games:)

so if they made it possible for both to Block the way they wanted to then id be down for that on Injustice 2.. have no clue if they can add the Right trigger to block in game or not. seems simple enough. and change D+B to Down to block.. and still have the capability of changing it back to B and B+D to block.

is that better, what exactly did i say thats so bad?

and if its the tired, it should only be the way it is.. just save it cuz i don't care. but if you are open mided enough to get a lot of players that like the MK style of block then fire away.
