i ment HTB's are here to stay, and ofc vortexs as long as all the options have a way out of them with a read.

basically HTB's have been here for a long while, many characters have them, and recently everyone was like there is triborg, "omg an HTB Nerf him". they acted like it was something new, freaked out about HTB's when they have been a part of the game for a long while, Tekada still has em, Predator still has em, Quan still has em, Tremor actually just got one on the Hotfix that nerfed Sektor and CSZ i believe.
You specifically said "Previous Mortal Kombats". What are the most important high/low hard-to-blockables in previous MK games?

and im sure we can all agree everything about Kabal was considered HTB

i could even go to the level that MK9 was far worse than MKX is in every way, the balancing was off the charts in that game, one sided if you chose low tiers to the standard top 10.

and that Kabal Block infinite was maddening right?

So one character being glitched and having an an unblockable reset, was what you were using to say that past Mortal Kombat games had a bunch of hard-to-blockables and safe 50/50s vortex loops?

Kabal was not considered "HTB", he just did a lot of chip damage + occasional hooksaw/saw blade when you did block.

Not having an option in online mode to switch Negative Edge on and off. Every time I want to use Sonya, I have to go offline to change my settings. Grrrrr.

Btw, I love this game and I think it's 123456789 times better balanced and infinitely more polished as a competitive fighter than MK9 ever was. If that makes a scrub, that's cool. I'll keep having fun punching people's heads off and you guys can have a circle jerk about how awesome it was to get 100% skull-fucked by one Cyrax combo.

Kabal was not "HTB", he simply did a lot of chip damage when you did block.
maybe i said it incorrectly i have been up for a couple days.... what i ment to say if i didnt allready, was HTB's and Vortex's have always been in MKX
i lumped all them in the same sentence when i had different motives for each one!

MK9 had its own dirt which imo was worse than MKX. Cyrax was 10 times harder to deal with in 9 than XL. KAbal had more rushdown than any character in 10 (since stamina exist in MKX its not possible for any MKX character to even do what Kabal did in 9)

they have been here for a year or close to depending when they where common knowledge to most, obviously they are here to stay, even though some have complained about them hoping they would leave, i am not a huge fan of them either like i have stated before, but instead of complaine or use them as an excuse for why i lost a match id rather adapt and learn how not to get in that situation again, or how to counter the setups. same goes for vortxes and restands,a s well as 50/50 the game is built around 50/50's now.

Resets have been in MK9 and are here as well (this one i am ok with it leaving MKXL) i actually think there might be hope of this one getting removed.


anyways i hope that clears up the confusion as to what i said before.

what i said is valid i just lumped shit together a way i shouldn't have.

since they are adding HTB's and not removing them since the games life (MKX) i guess its safe to say its here to stay.

i think a while back they did something to Predators Corner
HTB/reset where they added buffer frames so when an Over head and Low hit at same time that caused them to cancel into mids... which makes since, and was one of the causes of one of my earlier sugestions to normalize Cyrax's Reset. maybe they can make all HTB's easier to block... ( i wouldn't hold my breath) they have been ignoring it for over 6 months that ive been counting.

so that also lead me to believe they might remove the Reset.


like i said before id like for my characters Reset to be removed by adding Frames inbetween the B2 and low bomb so its easier to block, and they could also find a way to Remove the loop as well.


i honestly don't get how some players are even asking for a character to have his mixups changed to MIDS.... i seen a post saying make CSZ's B3D4 last hit a mid then said , make his dive kick a mid then said make his freeze bombs a mid..

im not a CSZ main, but even thats drastic to me.

The only kind of "mixup" Kabal really had was as previously stated the low saw blade/overhead hookswords, which was relatively easy to fuzzy guard, if not react to entirely. They were somewhat awkward to punish (think War God Kotal) but otherwise that wasn't the problem with Kabal at all.

yeah it was more so his endless chip but i get ya... and that pressure was awfully close to block infinite... i remember i played a bit of him in 9, i was more of a Cyrax main. its been so long... i also think i remember instant airs being beast mode, with almost no recovery off laning from jumps

but even though he only had those 2, it didnt matter, soon enough the opponent would miss input and get wreaked by one of them into full combo.

I think the biggest culprit for me is the run. Great idea but some character's runs are too fast. And on top of that some strings travel faster than their run lol.

The 'footsies' are pretty much just a guess between run up string or run up jump. The issue everyone had early on in this game about the run up 50/50 should've been more about how you can't stop the run up 50/50 when you are looking to AA these ridiculous jump attacks.

In Injustice, MK9, Street Fighter...just most 2D fighting games in general, you can look for a jump, and if they ended up advancing on the ground, you can react and poke before they force their best guessing game on you. In MKX though, if you are looking for a jump and they run in, you are eating their best guessing game before you can even react.

There's like a whole layer of meta missing in this game.

I'm amazed no ones mentioned how almost every character's primary colour is that revolting sickly green/brown which also weirdly constitutes at least half of the stages,I try and watch streams sometimes but mostly find myself screaming at the screen 'TURN THE LIGHT ON!'
other than that the game is the shits.

its 2016, the FGC has reached a much larger group of players and the success of MKX is amazing.

Stop comparing it to MK9 (not sure about Injustice) Maybe NRS just wanted to make a really fun fighting game, same as they have always done.
Did they really expect it to make it to EVO and beyond?

Reo and Eddy Wang have covered it, all of the salt.

Safe 50/50s, Safe Armored Launchers: is the only reason im posting here.

Yes, the best way to open someone up in this game is 50/50's.

But was I the only one who noticed plenty of footsies? I don't understand this thread at all.
