Some of the stuff you guys go back n forth with tickles me, you guys are on the outside looking in, ppl who claim that demo is broken and ridiculous, is insane, I didn't get in the position I did using demo Sonya reload combos all day, in fact I only get the ability to do that if I have 2-3 grenades and I open my opponent up in the corner, something I could rarely get when I was fighting the top players in this tournament, some of u claim that detonating bomb on block and hit is broken, don't u realize how bad demo would be if they took that away? When bomb Is thrown out that is how Sonya starts her mixup, also its a mid for christ sakes, demo is more read based variation just anything, there are tons of dumb stuff in this game, Cassie 18% safe overhead, crazy good armor option selects, invincibility on ex nut punch, tanya ridiculous pressure n chip damage, air n wake up 50/50s, Kotal ridiculous meter building with purple totem, n damage with totem buff, the list goes on and on, if ur gonna complain about 1 char being broke ur gonna have to look at all chars, this is just how the game is, its got tons of dumb stuff in it, u just have to deal with it, and accept it for what it is, until things change..

I agree with this. I play demo Sonya and I think she is mostly fair. But that recent tech that allows us to do 45+ corner combos with no meter has me scared that we might get the nerf bat. I don't think that having three grenades in the corner is that hard to set up. Besides that, congrats on your placing I was hoping you would win and you were very close. Excellent play I hope you win ESL keep it up.

No. She is extremely weak without grenades.

It means her best option cost her a bar of meter. She no longer has the ability to absolutely control the approach, she can no longer makes unsafe blockstrings +8. Her wakeup goes from one of the best in the game to one of the worst. Her AA conversion damage is sliced in half.

Her best set ups off EX Nades come off certain strings that you can't just run up and do. You need grenades to controll the approach for those strings, and that's the catch 22. Other setups come from knockdowns, but once again, the best benefits from EX Nades are direct results from using nades.

Think of this, you are saying she is better with 1 or no grenades than she is with 3 grenades.

so as much as i hate to give tanya credit- @SonicFox5000 made the right swtich..period.. you cannot deny him that. it was the wisest choice to deal with grenades, even though everyone hates tanya - yall need to get up out your feelings and give respect where its due.

aside from that, im a bit sad that all Takeda variations didnt make first, second, and third place but man i couldnt be happier with about how @hayatei , @Red Raptor , and @Vman played. holy shit did they played amazingly. ( all the people who are about to scream broken -we are already waiting for you - let the salt flow)
add @st9rm and they have really have set the bar high for takedas everywhere.

and scar, xinok, biohazard , FKJr, all with amazing -play also . man this was a very great tourney. things only look like they can go up from here. Fucking Scar man.. jesus lord.. NEVER had i though since MK1 that i wouldc be so hyper to watch sonya matches. Someone quote this and tag that man for me cause i dont know his handle on this sight.

This site is full of complaining bums. SONYA isn't broken demo isn't broken. The only thing broken are the bums inability to adapt and "learn from this". I wonder how heavy the influx of new Demo Sonya players is going to be?

I tried her a couple times.. Awesome premise but my poverty execution made me run away screaming. Very HYPE version of Sonya though, so much more engaging than her other two variations.

I also wonder if Yomi is becoming its own worst enemy now? Sure they are some of the best players in the world but if you only ever play each other, well, *shrug* . they may have a ton of outside practice, I dunno, just speculating.

So much nonsense in this thread. If you want an answer as to why many of the top players stopped posting here, then look no further than these 3 pages.

No kidding.

Mostly the salt is flowing from a combo of Tanya hate, Sonicfox hate, Cassie love and blind devotion to an ideal that Scar is the hero we deserve.

All tools are on the table. No character is so good right now that choosing them is absolutely clear. That's why you have guys using Lasher Takeda putting god tier kung lao players out of commission. It's why you can have a guy using two Sonya variations no one cared about giving a top tier player wielding a top tier character absolute fits.

Bottom line was that both players are amazing and no amount armchair strategy will take away from that.

Dude, it's clear that Sonic Fox is just random and picks top tiers... apparently that is literally all you need to win boatloads of majors. And ESL. And Evo championships in Injustice, Mortal Kombat, Skullgirls, plus a top 3 DOA finish.

Sonic Fox is great. He is a winner. Does his homework and wins. He knows his games better than most if not all. But LBSH the characters he wins with are beyond stupid. Guys, it's a tournament. In a tournament you do what you need to win. Until someone else is winning majors with Tanya, people still have some levelling up to do -- regardless of how good she is.

Let's not kid ourselves that Sonya or Cassie are low-tier heroes. And let's not ostracize players for picking competitively in a competitive event.
