Question - Summoner Is Quan Chi in reality a mid tier character?

Shinnok probably loses to quan imo, at best it's 5/5. Quan does basically what shinnok does but better and with more damage.

I think it's mainly the fact they can do the same thing to each other. SUmmoner however vortexes Impostor way better than Impostor does and zones better than Bone Shaper.

Let's not forget how effortlessly quan can punish Tricky Portal on reaction with NJP.

I was under the impression that most people understood how pointless a tier list by character is for this game. Considering this exact topic has come up before and always seems to be the case

"characters as a whole" don't exist, i dont see how it matters, considering i already laid out how combining them makes no functional/real world sense

I'm not entirely sure I agree that Warlock covers all of them. I think Shinnok, particularly in Imposter, beats Quan accross the board.

I remembered seeing Dink list this as a bad mu as well.

What are your thoughts?

Imposter/ All variations of Quan is 5/5. THAT BEING SAID. Each side has disgusting shit on each other. Shinnok can basically hit Quan with block strings and Quan can punish Hell Sparks with trance. It's frustrating for both parties

The variation thing:

2 schools. The player that easily transitions between variations because they have enough in common with each other, and the player that is completely lost if they have to pick any of the other two variations. The argument of tiers or variations being characters in and of themselves is predicated on what school of thought you are from, but you're both right.

I belong in the latter: I'm completely lost if I have to play another variation, so I just as soon pick another character...that's just how my weird brain works. Full Auto or Warlock for me.

Now that Bone Shaper received nerfs AND Quan received buffs, I think Quan's definitely in the lead in that matchup. And Imposter, while good, gets vortexed just as hard as Quan does but Quan does way more damage and his mixups are safe on both ends of the spectrum and are much harder to block. I say Quan wins. I felt he did well even when BS was the best in the game, not a very fun matchup though.

yeah but now that Beam is unsafe on block he doesn't build as much meter. Quan never wants to be hit haha, but in the neutral Quan wins soundly I feel like.

Imposter is the go-to vs Quan, not BS. I agree that Quan vs BS is in Quan's favor, but Imposter is a 5-5. Shinnoks normal F2, hellsparks and his tele are all really useful tools in the neutral and his vortex/pressure is almost as deadly as Quan's.

That's a massive exaggeration and you know it. Shinnok can cancel his low into hellsparks to stay plus and make you guess again. I agree Quan is better but Shinnok, in Imposter, has his fair share of dirt on Quan which makes it a 5-5 imo.

His hell spark pressure isn't what it used to be, but even if it's 5/5 slightly more in Quan's favor I can see that, but I don't think it's 6/4.

He only has you till he runs out of meter and you can do thing about EX Rune like armoring between B3 string into Rune.
