So he can still do a jip and say b2 or f4 after and the opponent must guess?
I think only throw after JIP will be affected, cause i think ive read something like, "jip to strings not affected" or something.
I dont know if you can link JIP to b2, havent tried linking JIP to f4
 
For the love of god, the jump in punches takes away the guaranteed throw. Jump punches to combos is still the same and didnt change.

We really can't complain anymore as Scorpion players, he'll be upper mid for sure with this.
 
Hey guys, I have a ps3 so I don't have my hands on the new patch yet, so I was wondering if someone knows or could find out if the following is still a valid combo even with the new jump in mechanics in place.

Will Jip, F3, Spear still combo still connect as a combo?
Will Jip, 1, 1+2, teleport still combo?

I guess the problem with the new jump mechanics arises whenever the Jip is blocked. In the Post patch, I understand that some moves can just be jumped out of, since the frame advantage is no where nearly as significant. Can someone please find out for me if these combos are fast enough to no allow my opponents to escape out of when the jip is block? Many Thanks.
 
Taken from the official patch notes.

• You no longer get a completely free throw attempt after someone blocks your jump punch. The opponent has less block hit frames but chained combos from a jump punch will remain the same.
 
I don't think there was any reason to complain before, but I still do appreciate a viable wakeup option and the armor on the ex will help him with pressure.

Good to know about the stuff. From the way the change sounded I was thinking any move slower than throw could be jumped out of after the JIP. If thats the case then it'd be incredibly risky to try jumping out anyway if you could still get hit by an b2 etc...

Is takedown still full combo punishable or is it only jab punishable now?

I thinks its more safer now on block, but not that safe still punishable with fast strings

Takedown being safer is a big thing to Scorpion. But I think it could still be punished with some very fast strings.

Well I can still complain about whiffed fullscreen spear getting full combo punished but thats about it really.
They tweaked the negative edge so it will be better but if youre a true scorpion mainer i dont think you will have a lot of problems with that, spears will never whiff if the juggles are low, so you just need some practice. I really like to juggle the opponent low because it also looks cooler. the main problem was wakeup, so yeah no problems with that anymore:D.

Hmm i dont know about that yet, a lot of other characters may have jumped a tier up or down, for example jax will be a tier .
and kung lao also dropped a tier.

But i agree with the complaining part:D, BTW guys does somebody know anything about the ex spear from up close. Recently I did an ex spear from up close and the opponent duck blocked it :S. And when I tried to do it again it just went over him strange... is this stance specific or something?
 
The Takedown is a thing of beauty now I must say. It is slightly faster and NRS cut the roll back animation out completely so he gets straight up. :en Takedown can land from jump distance and is just a tab bit slower than Night Wolfs Shoulder Charge. It can also be used as a substitute for when :en Spear wiffs a crouching opponent. AND IT HAS ARMOR!!!!!!
any other changes that we should be aware of? hitbox changes for example does a 1,1,1 still connect even though people crouch block or will it just whiff? any damage scaling? how about the negative edge?

People aren't going to be able to just mash out of scorpions 50/50 after a JIP. If anything ( I haven't tested it yet due to a bad training mode and nobody to test with right now) if they try to D+1 out of the mixup or something you can just chain 11 off of the JIP and cancel into spear for a full combo. When they respect that option they won't be pressing too many buttons.

Also that 50/50 can be blocked consistently by blocking low first then just release down when you see or hear the overhead coming. You can get around that if you delay your attack though. The guys in valley stream do this consistently and just doing the basic 50/50 after a JIP results in me eating a big combo.

but post-patch Takedown works perfectly and I believe NRS extended the invincible frames on wake up attacks

The main thing is that Scorpions biggest weakness IMO is ineffective now

Thnxxx, that was the ONE thing sub had against scorpion.
 
ex hellfire isnt worth it at all and the only situation you should use it is if the opponent has almost no life left. scorpion is very meter dependant. u should only use meter for breaker, ex teleport or ex spear

No no I'm not talking about in combos, I'm talking about fullscreen you throw a spear, opp jumps over, dashes forward 2-3 times and punishes you with a full combo. Basically its just as punishable point blank as it is fullscreen distance.

Its not really a problem for me anymore, I just don't throw naked spears at fullscreen anymore, unless I know for a fact it will connect, or if I have a breaker stocked I might take the risk.
