This is true, however MMH was also downplayed and we were told by numerous people that Jupiter not placing at NEC meant that the character was not that big of a deal and everyone had been 'freaking out' for no reason. Then when Jupiter won won APEX it didn't matter because it wasn't a major.

I was ridiculed for bringing up the fact that you'd already made Top 8 with MMH and told that it was old news and you were no longer relevant. And Jupiter's win at Civil War will also probably be downplayed to an extent based on what people feel was a light roster.

So despite everything, I feel like MMH is only now getting his true credibility as the absolute monster of a threat that he is. If MMH players do well at a higher-profile event like MLG or EVO, expect the floodgates to open and the revolution to begin :)
Well that's kind of what happens when you have players going around and preaching that a character being broken means that the character has to win tournaments or place high or else they're not a problem. More people in this community need to stop the mindset that a character is broken or how good determined by tournament results. That's not how it works. Even if MMH didn't win or place top at upcoming EVO or MLG, it wouldn't change my opinion on how good and absurd the character is. Guys, please don't mix tournament results with character tiers. They're two separate things and more players need to understand this.

This same mentality was rampant in MK9 and it's sad to see it still plaguing Injustice. It really should die off already.

I agree 100% -- been saying this for months. When a character has all the right tools, you can see it coming before it reaches full strength by just taking an honest look at the gameplay. Takes time and effort to maximimize the advantages, nail the matchups and solidify the execution.

I think you mash D1 too much. But you play NW, I guess. Hon estly, it seems like you don't know when to zone and that's why you're having trouble.
I can't zone because you punish with teleport everytime, and I don't d1 that much I usually bait u with d1 j1 I don't mash d1 d1 d1

Can you list the few local scenes that have died and dropped the game

NY: This was at one time the biggest MK scene. Even towards the end of MK9, NY had one of the bigger scenes. REO, CD jr, CD Prime, Insuperable, Maxter, Riu48, etc, etc.. all quit IGAU. Also, guys like Winter Warz had to move back to Canada but decided that he didnt like the game anyway, so he would have quit even if he stayed in NY.

PA: People can say whatever they want about STH, but this guy was one of the best hosts the community had. He would ALWAYS invite people up to his place for weekend training sessions where everyone would level up and have a great time doing it. He still occasionally hosts sessions where guys like 7L, CVS, AC1984, KT Smith, etc etc still go to play.. However, a lot of the time MK9 is the game that gets put in and never taken out. They just dont find enjoyment in IGAU.

Nova/MD/DC: Kevo, LulzLou, flippin flava, and several others that I dont remember (sorry guys) quit playing. Without a decent size local scene there were no more local gatherings. No local gatherings means no Khaotik, Astronaut, Oxygen, etc come out because there is no gathering to come out to. Instead you get Khaotik on psn, Astronaut on xbl, and oxygen who doesnt play online at all.

Richmond/Sova: Only players left in Richmond are Orochi and Sid of which Sid is only there during the school year. Guys like Adam Lane, Robin, etc no longer play. In SOVA: Blackula hardly ever plays, Hatakeosawa I believe has quit and is 100% KI, Srryimwhite has lost all interest in being serious after the "deathstroke rules injustice" thread, I dont believe Curse has played in a long time, Gruff is ..well.. Gruff and I believe he quit IGAU for DOA5, etc etc..

ATL: Say what you want .. The emergence of guys like Glass Sword leveling up, Saltface joining the NRS crew, and Xeno developing into a great player STILL doesnt make ATL as cut throat as it once was. When Clint, PokChop, etc took the NRS games serious it was WAR!!! In fact, it was ATL Red's Smoke that gave birth to Pig's Kenshi. The drive to win and beat each other was BIG TIME!!! Now: Smarr seems to care less and less every week, Pig is actually LESS angry and at times. Even Tre, who always wanted to get better and beat guys to prove all the ppl who hate on him wrong, seems to care less and less. Players like LOTF, who is not only a good player but like one of the scientists of games he takes serious, dont care anymore either. So, while ATL has emerging players, it's OG's have less fire and some have flat out quit.

Kombat Houston: Its NOTHING like it used to be. In MK these guys were hardcore!! The guys were also cut throat and was the reason why so many of them were so good. IGAU has had a few key guys lose interest which leads to less sessions and not as strong of a desire to beat not just everyone world wide, but most importantly each other!! I mean.. WOW were they cut throat in MK and it was awesome!

Dallas: No more HOG for the time being REALLY hurts. Also, MyGod was a great host in the MK days but he is now 100% KI. Dallas players have died off and locations to even gather are gone. Just little to no interest in IGAU.

Im honestly not about to go through every scene but a lot of them have either taken a hit, are on life support, or are completely gone. Really sucks..

No HOG was really the thing that killed IGAU for me. I hate online and that was my main source of playing the game. Now that HOG is gone and there is only a local every 3-4 months I dont find any point in playing anymore, I know a few Dallas guys feel the same as well.

Looking through this, some of these scenes either already died by the end of MK9 before IGAU was released, or never really picked the game up to begin with.

VSM before injustice was released consisted of Winter Warz and Rev0lver showing up to play each other for 4 hours because no one else wanted to come and play them.

As far as MD/DC/VA/DE, you are going to compare the likes of Kevo at the end of MK9 and FlippinFlava to the strength that scene has now? It's unquestionably a better scene now overall. Those guys mostly play each other online, but they are very consistent, have a number of great players and they show up in droves at tournaments in the region. I wouldn't call their scene 'dead' or 'dropped'.

As far as your assertion about Atlanta Kombat, look at their recent tournament placings and name a time when as many people from that scene were ever this big of a threat at majors.

Guys who have placed recently at majors or likely will: Glass Sword, Harold, Pig, Smarrgasm, Salt Face. And any of them can beat each other on any given day. Not to mention that a number of other players in their scene are 'on the cusp'.

There are a couple of scenes that did taper off, but in their place came new scenes like 8otB. KH seems to be rebuilding now and some their newer players like Digit look incredibly strong. In general, things do change, but I think people are overreaching with the doom/death/gloom talk because their favorite players from a couple years ago aren't the ones making the most noise right now.

REO and Jupiter are great players. I still think MMH is too good. I guess we will see at EVO, where hopefully there will be a ton of players and more MMH's get in the spotlight.

Even when VSM was dead it didnt matter. Myself, REO, Riu48, Insuperable, CVS, etc would all go to jr's all the time and play all day and night. The fact that the physical VSM venue had died didnt mean NY had.

ATL Red was top 8 at EVO 2011 and always strong until he retired. Clint had a great showing at many majors including MLG where he defeated the MLG Anaheim Champion, Detroit. Pokchop was also always was a threat. ATL in general is no where near as cut throat as it once was. That is a fact.

..and 80tB isnt a scene, its a venue where you get to play your tourney matches then see ya next week. You cant go to the break and get in any long sets with Jupiter or any player. Not because they wont play you in a long set, because the option isnt there to do so.

Idk man I feel I'm angrier today than 2011-2013

Pretty sure a few could back me up

Also the argument whether mk Atl or inj Atl is strong

I can argue hard for both but I will say this
Evo top 8 2011 Atl redd 75), he taught me how to be better

Evo top 8 2012 pig 3rd

Also Clint placed top 8 at MLG raleigh and I did 3 times and won arena

However# of top 8 placers in MK overall were
Pig
Redd
Clint
Tre
Pokchop??! Can't remember

Top 8 placers inj
Saltface
Harold
Pig
Dream sword
Smarrgasm
Goomba

So argument is interesting

Regardless on the ATL scene discussion, the other scenes listed and others are dead or dying. Really hurts.. Just look at the NOVA/MD scene.. say what you want, you had 2 guys that played Kabal just in that area alone. Now compare that to MMH who maybe has 4 players nation wide.

What? The NJ players are running are running sets every week and have been training together for a long time. Just because it happens at get-togethers on other days rather than on tournament night means it's not a scene?

But by your own words, you getting together with 3 other people at Jr's house with no weekly tournament is a scene.

Wtf? That's the definition of 'rose-colored glasses' :)

1. it was like 5 other at jr's, sometimes more. Lets not forget about guys like J360..
2. I said nothing about NJ having or not having a scene.
3. At the NJ sessions with fran, arma, and KDZ there is still NO mmh.. at the NY gatherings we had jr and REO. Both placed top w/kabal at a major called EVO.

tbh I am more puzzled that you of all pll think your knowledgeable enough to tell a person like Tom who has been spending money traveling around the country since mk9 was released about the scenes in the nrs community. You weren't even here in the mk days.

#1 is true of NJ as well.
#2 Whatever you want to call it, the NJ scene is pretty much what you described. It's guys that run games together, train together and support each other. With the addition of a local tournament they hold each week.
#3 Reminds me of what poor rev0lver said every week when he wasn't invited to Jr.'s house to play.

Not settling down with or taking advantage of a scene is a much different problem from scenes not existing.

And overall; with people finally admitting what MMH is capable of, I wouldn't be surprised to see more players in the future.

Its not even close to all the amount of exposure you could get to Kabal which was the point.
