I only work in black, sometimes in very dark grey.
Anyone feel like Dex got shafted? Weapons are (reportedly) weaker and a lot of weapon types have like 0 durability (looking at twinblades and whips). I've been fine with my Heide Sword, but doesn't seem like I'll have many other good options. Miracles seem way more viable in PVP though, Lightning Spears don't take years to come out.
I'm using my classic DEX build (a staple since Demon Souls) and I don't find the DEX weapons weak at all. Durability doesn't seem to be a problem, since everytime you rest in a bonfire all your weapons are back to full durability and, as far as I know, the good old Uchigatana is as deadly as always.

Fair enough. To be honest, I haven't explored weapon option all too much, I ended up leaving Iron Fortress (still not there) for one of my last areas because I didn't know the ember was there. Boss weapons seem better in general though, which is really cool

Managed to beat them on my first try with a friend. I've heard it's one of the harder fights in this game.
Any ganking boss will be hard. Fighting multiple enemies will always be hard in Souls games, that's why DS1 was easier to me because you could easily lure enemies out one by one. You get ganked a lot more in DS2, even in Boss fights, lol.

I'm thinking poise works on how quick you can get out of stun lock. Like, no matter your poise, if you get hit you'll get hit, but if you have high poise, you won't be stun locked for days and can get out of stun lock spam after the first hit or two easier than if you had low poise. This is just a theory though, I could be wrong.

This mean you don't like me?
I YOLO SOLO every boss I come across, meaning that before I even played the game I knew I wouldn't complete some NPC questlines because I'm too stubborn to summon help my first go round. I am a real man.

I always preferred the Iaito's moveset in DS1. Unfortunate that they didn't bring it back.

It seems like people are already hard copying my idea. I was going to make a MLGS build with heavy sorcery, pyromancy and maybe even use some hexes/miracles. I've seen some people wrecking shop with this very build, which is a bummer because I was going for unique, lol. MLGS has always been my favorite weapon after the Claymore, but it seems to be OP and overused at the moment in PvP.

Idk, still don't even have my INT build yet anyway, gotta beat the game with my first character first. Life keeps getting in the way of me beating this fucking game!!

I don't think poise gets you out stunlock honestly, at least in pvp. I'm almost positive its adaptability that does. At 6 points at least you can get out of a stunlock after 2 hits. I've messed with all kinds of poise up to 100+ and it does not seem to work in pvp at all. Pve it does though.

Was your base poise at 100+?

Elaborate?

Right now I am running 35 poise and 20 ADP and I get out of any stunlock after 2 hits. If I poise heavy armor i can get above 100, and i notice NO difference in pvp. Still get out after 2 hits, with or without the additional poise.

I'm the same. I love helping people but when it comes to my playthrough I want to do everything alone. I've already failed though because I had to summon help for the 3 soldiers of the Lost Bastille. The first one was easy to solo but then you had to take on the other two at the same time and I have no idea how that's even possible with such a low SL and low level gear.

I've also had phantoms for the first Demon of Iron Keep. I just didn't have good enough gear to withstand his fire sword attacks. I did solo the big demon though. But he was static and kinda predictable. Plus he was weak to lightning so it was relatively easy.

I think I've solo'd every other boss in the game so far. I'm going at the shrine and castle next.

When you look at your stats, you have a poise stat. It's always much lower than what it should be, and I believe it's your base poise not factoring in equipment. My theory is that your poise only matters up to that base poise stat, so you can't just stack poise with armor. Like I said though, this is all 100% speculation and I've done little to no research on poise in this game. Theories ftw

Oh okay. I'm at work right now so I am unsure. I think its like 5, it's always pretty low. Poise works differently in this game that is for sure. It seems to only work mid attack animation. So if you are in the middle of attacking it wont get interrupted with the right poise. I THINK this is how it works in ds2. One thing is for sure- it is not the same as in ds1 and does not seem worth investing in for PVP.

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this though.

I have 10 ADP. People say having 20 ADP is a must for PvP but any more than that is a waste.

Can't wait to respec because I didn't really build my character for PvP. I just made an average build with 20s almost every where. 30 for STR and DEX and 35 faith.

Boosted INT up to 10 just to be able to use Scraps of Life. That spell is hilarious in PvP but it has a pretty small radius.

Actually, most people I've seen and talked to go for max agility, which is 38/39 ADP.

Dur doesn't matter in pvp.

What is MLGS?

As far as dex weapons go, if they do less damage I think that's a fair trade off. Why waste time hitting someone with a zweihander or greatsword when for half the stamina you can do the same damage + build bleed with a katana or otherwise? Dex weapons should do less damage by design imo. Just like lighter armor shouldn't be as effective as heavy armor.

I finished the game, and I'm beset by even more questions that I won't understand until much later in the game's life. I'm apprehensive about doing the respec, as I'd like to have a couple of ready to go characters in different playstyles.

Also does anyone else find it annoying that you don't get to see weapon stat boosts until you equip the weapon? I don't care about the armor comparisons, as they weren't in dark souls 1 and armor doesn't really bother me. (I ended up with the grave warden's armor + leather boots/gloves on my OG character) But I'd like to see the stat boosts I'd get from a weapon without having to equip it and then going to the equipment section. They have enough room on the menu to accommodate this.

I've been using the Claymore and then Shotel for turtles, pretty much what I did in DS1. The scrubs I just guard break, but that's so easy to avoid once you know it exists, lol. I'm eventually going to use way different weapons, but using what I know for now so that I can get familiar with the game, mechanics, and all that shit.

I tried dual caestus's and they actually were really good in PvP. They're so fast they stun lock your opponent for days and in power stance they pretty much wreck shop. They lose out to spears and long range kombat, obviously, but they're so light you can just use them as a secondary and once you get in, just switch to them. I used them not even upgraded and won 10-0 in the arena.
