Batman Matchup Chart Discussion 2014

I do give my left nut to have than many even/winning match ups.
Batman players can pretty much go to a major and not have to worry about counter picks.
I don't see any downplay, m2dave was clearly mistaking( not a huge surprise).

I agree with superman mu one thing do I have played countless of batmans online if superman gets you in the the corner batmans screw also supermans jump 1 is godlike and beats batman jump2 shenanigans

I believe Batman beats Batgirl 6-4 and here's why

He can zone her out easily because of the fact batarang hits mid, does nearly 3% chip and can be meterburned on reaction(offline obviously) to an attempted counterzoning attempt via smokeport or bat evade 1. So the way she was designed to deal with zoning doesn't work on Bruce as long as he has a bar of meter.

Also from 3/4 screen or closer he can punish bolas with one bat by releasing the trait bat as he is jumping over the bola and grappling as soon as he touches the ground. He can do b3 instead of grapple from half screen or closer.

She cannot abuse cartwheel either because of parry and if properly timed, Batman can stuff cartwheel and smokeport wakeup attacks with d1xxgrapple for full combo pretty consistently.

So basically you call a trait bat out and begin zoning. Every blocked batarang builds a 1/4 bar so after a few you will have the bar of meter that she has to respect. She now has to approach by dashing, cartwheel, dash into b1 or jumping all of which can be punished with your trait bat for full combo. If she gets frustrated and tries to smokeport, you simply meterburn the batarang and block, then do a meterless combo punish so you can save your meter for this same technique. As long as you're patient and play your game, it's very hard for her to get in.

This one matchup that Batman can play defensively by zoning and running away and Babs can't do much about it. It seems he is her master after all. Now once she touches you, you are just as screwed as the rest of the cast but I still believe he has a slight edge in the matchup.

Nice write up. That sounds like batgirl could lose. The only reason I have for putting it at 5-5 is the damn vortex. I know it's 50/50 guess but she can possibly take out a whole life bar meterless easy. It sucks lol

I agree with WW, it' one of my favorite match ups, he can zone her well, and with bats he can play a good rushdown game, but once she gets in and she knocks you down or puts you in the corner there's where our game begins, also for the zoning game WW can d3 her batarangs and trait, once you start Meterburning it i have to block :( but it's a very even MU considering WW's air mobility to get in, IADG, airdash, parry and D3.
I also agree 5-5 with Zatanna, fireball and trait play a big role on this MU <3 love it too.

NW number is good. Batman can zone NW until he gets started in staff/runs out of meter or switches back to escrima. NW can also abuse Batman's weak defensive options and wakeups with staff, and blow up parry attempts for 40% meterless.

It's an interesting MU. We should run it sometime.

How's it not a tie when batman poor wakeup game gets him stuck in free 50/50 vortexes , his best use of trait in the matchup is for footsies and punishing guns , most of the time Deathstroke will have bars to pushblock when Batman gets in and leave him without bats for a decent amount of time ( especially after the nerf ) , in the corner you can jump 3 for free vs him and get the 50/50s going.

There's some recent footage here between Nubcakes Batman ( arguably top 3 Batman player right now ) and King Hippo DS , just from the looks of it it seems pretty even to me and i'm not taking into account non optimized combos , setups and more 50/50s .

One thing I love about DS and sinestro is how after a pushblock you either let them backdash or eat a projectile

Then pushblocking would be hella useless with your back in the corner , corners are a recipe for destruction vs most characters

Yeah for sure dude. I think Nightwings jumping back and throwing wingdings all day are really hard to deal with as Batman. I tried adding you on XBL in the past and you just let my friend request sit in your inbox for like a week so I was like nevermind I guess lol

Why is AM vs Batman in AM's favor so heavily? I understand that trait can be a problem, but can't Batman punish all of AMs attacks once he has bats out?

Other than some of the MUs the character specialists have pointed out already, it's a fair MU chart. 5-5 means you just need to know the MU and outplay your opponent. Fitting that Batman of all characters has a MU chart like that. He has answers for everything.

Trust me, I see where you are coming from but it's not a 5-5. I've played alot of Deathstrokes. I think Deathstroke wins the zoning game, but Batman definitely wins the up close game. And it isn't that hard for Batman to get next to Deathstroke

I know, I actually love his 5-5's going down the line. I don't have an advantage over many, but nobody really has advantage over me either. Even matchups with everyone.

And I really don't want to get into how dumb Aquaman is but Batman def loses that matchup. I couldn't decide if it was 3-7 or 4-6 so I just went in the middle lol

Noobe thinks it's 5-5. With Doomsday's buffs and Batman's nerfs combined, I think the matchup definitely became alot closer to even. Your EX shoulder charge won't get beat out by batarangs anymore and I don't have nearly as much trait bats as I used to. Also I have bad wakeups so Doomsday fucks me up on knockdown, especially in the corner :confused:

Fine , been a long time since i've played the Batman matchup and i didn't felt is was bad even prepatch , i want to play it more to be sure of it being slightly bad.

I'll take the rust off him and see how it fares.
