Didn't Kano survive? I don't think he's seen again after he warns the bad guys about Cyber Sub-Zero. I just want Kano back. Maybe this time he can start bottom 3, then get buffed to god tier, then get nerfed to top 10 status, instead of the other way around...

I wouldn't rule out anyone not coming back for that matter. The story writers will always find a reason/way to bring back a character. Remember zombie Liu Kang?

I'm not going to post which characters I want back as I feel it will make little difference amongst a voice of thousands. All I will say is I would like there to be less ninjas in the game. Feels like half the cast wears a mask.

The new "3D generation" of MK characters do deserve a second chance. I bet my collection of PS2 games that if some of the newer characters (Drahmin, Ashrah, Mavado and Havik come to mind) made their first appearances in the MKII–UMK3 times, with creative special moves for the 2D gameplay, then they would've been much better recieved. They did not get a proper opportunity to shine with the 3D era of MK.

Oh yeah, I want Kratos, Drahmin, Havik, Mokap, and Freddy Krueger for MK10!
Doesn't matter if Kratos and Freddy are guests: make them official MK characters please. :DOGE

STORY...
I think the story will most likely revolve around Quan-Chi and Shinnok recruiting villains to help the Brotherhood of Shadows conquer the realms.
I'm guessing they will receive help from The Dragon clans and the Lin Kuei. They will also get help from Shao Kahn's formers and the Chaos Realm(Havik).....
Making a terrifying cast of villains. Can Raiden and his new champions stop them?

SUB-STORIES...
Scorpion learning the truth behind the death of the Shirai-Ryu. Then aiding Raiden.
Ermac free from the control of Shao Kahn joins Raiden.
Cyrax System Malfunction and regaining his humanity, thus joining Raiden.
Cyrax and Frost take down the Lin Kuei. (would be sick!)
Kai Becomes earthrealms new champion.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!
The Sub Plot between Nitara, Cyrax, and Reptile that will set up the whole Dragon King thing! MKXI

MK11 Kabal = MK9 Kitana
TBH, I love how Kabal plays in MK9... to me, he's the most fun to play as in the game. Just remove the broken shit (9% fireballs with no cooldown, and EX Nomad Dash Cancels) and he's good to go.

No. I don't have much love for post MK3 characters. Bo Rai Cho, Fujin, and Kenshi are cool though. It's not a big mystery why NRS decided to use a klassic roster for MK9.

Add Liu Kang, Noob Saibot, Cyber SubZero, Smoke and you're good to go! :)
I can see them coming back with NO resurrections (I'm not a fan either)...

For instance, Kang is not dead, just Kabal-like burned.
Noob Saibot didn't die in the "soulnado" in which Nightwolf kicked him in. He could have just teleported in another realm.
Sektor and the Lin Kuei can collect Smoke's body and turn him into a cyborg (evil/neutral allegience).
As for Cyber Sub-Zero, he's just a machine-they can fix him! My fear is whether or not will we have a human Sub-Zero or not in the story. I guess he can be in MK10 as a 2nd costume (Cyblax-like). And I want evil Kang!

I don't know if I really like that though...
I see where your coming from, but it doesn't seem that logical (thought this IS Mortal Kombat)
My prediction was basically that Kai replaces Lui, and Frost replacing Sub....
I also don't want the game to be over crowded with character, but I want the new ones (4 and DA) to get a better shot at being memorable. So I'm ok with losing some of the cast. As long as none of the characters are as Busted as Vanilla Kung-Lao or Kabal/Cyrax

Besides the point of the joke but pre-patch Kung Lao wasn't all that different honestly, it was more because the vast majority were still unfamiliar with the mechanics and momentum of the game (doesn't sound reminiscent at all :DOGE) and the shitstorm about the EVO 2011 grand finals because a certain character couldn't do anything about Spin or Low hat.

Unless of course you mean like, Vanilla Kung Lao, where he was basically the meterless equivalent of Cyrax, had less gravity scaling on divekicks, and had a true infinite.

Wait, if I'm reading this correctly, you want Kratos, Freddy Krueger (again?) and Fulgore in the game, but NOT Sub-Zero or Kenshi? Something ain't adding up here....
