Thanks both of you guys. I'll give it a try. Sektor's second on my Triborg playlist so any help with him probably helps with the others.
 
Speaking of Possessed Kenshi, I advise you to use 4 to punish it on reaction. Either cancel it into teleport or juggle into f212. Had I known this when I was up against that teleport happy Kenshi I would probably have destroyed him.

Regular UM's are very good vs possessed too. Trades with bf3 a lot and you get more hits than the full animation of kenshi's bf3, and if he teleports at any point. UM's will either trade with him, you can block as he gets hit by them, or he gets hit while appearing, letting you hitconfirm into full combo.

Ah, that's one option I never thought about; will try it out.

Wish there were more matchup discussions around here. Good info is so much harder to come across in MKX than it was in SFIV for some reason.

When did the EX air dash after teleport become unsafe?

Lol every time I lab this character something new is nerfed.

Okay, before I must have been looking at EX air dash by itself in the movelist. Sorry.
ex air dash is -8 so it is safe pretty much and regular air dash is -18. You can ONLY cancel into ex air dash from a teleport though, regular air dash won't come out.

The air dash you cancel into has different properties than ex. Just as the normal one it lacks armor and deals 10% damage. However, it is slightly safer on block -- but still not as safe as ex version since it can be punished by SZ's slide while ex can't. I obviously assumed it was -18 since it's identical to regular dash in the other attributes, and can be punished by stuff that ex is safe against, but it's unique in that sense. Just tested it.

I just found a really weird thing about one of Sektor's strings, 114: The third hit whiffs on crouch BLOCKING Sub-Zero but not on neutral crouching one. Not sure if this applies to other characters as well, but I did test on Mileena, and it didn't whiff on her.

Anyway, I'd like to know what balance changes people would like to see for Sektor if there's another patch.

I think his flamethrower needs to be improved. The hitbox and active frames are way too bad for it to be a decent footsie/aa tool (it says it has 18 active frames but I the hitbox is tiny during some of those frames). They should make it either somewhat safer on block to make it a decent choice to end strings with or improve hitbox/active frames to give it some use in the neutral game. Could give it more + frames on hit, I suppose, but I don't like that solution since it would provide Sektor with a mixup opportunity, which is the last thing this game needs.

Teleport uppercut could also use a hitbox fix I reckon, since it has a tendency to whiff in some situations.

That's really all I can think of.

As far as balance goes Sektor is fine, hitbox fixes are welcome though.

This character makes me so upset. It's the only character in the game all my main characters except for Mileena (which I'm not that great with) seem to have bad match-ups against. CO Sonya has an awful time getting in (up missiles on top of Sektor seem to beat absolutely everything as well), Kitana and Pyro Tanya are laughably bad in this match-up, and venomous D'vorah seems like she would be in the same boat as CO Sonya but with a bonkers run speed and F43 instead of a dive kick and arc kick.

good day guys, post patched i haven't been using sektor really, but now i've decided to give him a try again and i'm really having a hard time because close up missiles just seem so useless right now, it's like a "free run into me" for my opponent whenever i do that, and it always land at the back of my opponent, does normal upmissile has better tracking now? what is the ideal way to make use of the upmissiles? thanks!

If they're running in then you can just tag them with a straight missle for that hard knockdown and back up for more zoning, or go for a meaty mixup.

So is it better to 50/50 into EX BF1, or just go into teleport and do EX air dash/no EX air dash?

I'm assuming the latter since you don't lose meter if you guess right?

I see that in the corner EX BF1 isn't really an option.

Ex air dash is the way to go. If they duck block ex missles they won't get hit by the last missle and can easily punish you. Plus there is the mindgames with the air dash at some point, your opponent may be afraid to try and punish every time you have bar.

From what i seen on ED Boons page was, the first post talks about 2 things: MKXL on PC and Character Buffs which to me = Patch Notes later to come. to me this is a confirmation of both. Boon is an ass but when it comes to marketing I don't think he would joke that much, i mean there is a pole and him saying we hear the people request granted in different words. Anyways ive seen his jerking before and I think this one is 100% Legit and very much needed to.

My Cyrax, My CSZ, and what about Balanced Kenshi and Jacqui High Tech, Or maybe the worst Ferra, or Brood mother D, HAt Trick, Ethreal, (i wouldn't mind any Kenjitsu buffs ;) jk but seriously) and my man Sektor could use a few adjustments lets nor forget Smoke, i say buff all the Lin Kuei and allies:) That's Lin Kuei Grandmaster, Bi-Han, Kuai Liang, Smoke, Sektor, Cyrax, Cyber Sub Zero, Frost. Allies: Raiden, Special Forces, White Lotus Society, Shirai Ryu.

Hey Sektor players! Looking for some advice as somebody who strugges against Sektor as all characters.

I was labbing what to do after Sektor cancels a string into up rockets since I get mopped by that all day for free lol. When he cancels into the close rocket I have to run/walk to sektor then punish so that I avoid getting hit by the missiles, cool. But if he cancels into the regular up rocket I get hit, and my solution is to take a step back then run forward and punish so that I avoid the rocket. This is all fine and dandy midscreen but I need to ask, is that really the little guessing game I have to play? Or is there something that covers both options (without using armour)?

I haven't even looked at what to do in the corner yet, my current strategy is to just die. But I was thinking maybe just uppercut and win the trade. Although, that doesn't work when I can't afford to be trading.

Depends on the character. For example, JC has a easy punish with F3 ex np every time, and if you're lucky it'll trade with up missiles and grant you a full f3,ji2 combo, similarly with cassie in Hollywood. Different characters get different things from it, but its too matchup dependant for there to be a overall solution. Have to lab every characters options.

Honestly i just Wait till they leave the screen then im free to go anywhere untracted. it is kinda hard to get that timing down every time. I feel ya, and they can always go into a normal Like 111 (i hate this one) andstuff any attempt you have. it does seem that you can wait then mix them up, but run at risk of getting hit no matter if they are tracking. since they can set them on top of them. Really id say it needs adjusting but really thats the coolest tool Sektor has and he should keep it.

there is some character Specific options after they leave the screen like cyrax has F13 or F43 air grab and that get him out of the way. but im not sure on all the cast and if they actually have an answer. Mileena has F44 and Ball Roll, and Kenshi has Absolutely nothing lol. (i should make it Abundantly clear that i used Balanced and second Kenjutsu) but i guess what can a Possesed do i really don't know that variation but its not like he is gonna Sky port fight into them to get hit quicker?

I don't know if this is already known. But if you do a corner combo for ex f13 tele run under 21 and end with f131 up missile. You can break a lot of armor wake up if the oponent does not tech roll(tried with slasher 11f ex grab). If they does tech roll, you trade the missle with their wake up
 
Wow. Nerf to armored launchers and buff to Sektor's flamethrower; nerf to running and buff to Sektor's projectile. Sounds to me like Sektor will be really strong after the patch has landed.
