They'll do it the same way they did it before, matching the order of appearance in the reveal - because once an aspect of professionalism is introduced, its bad business to change with an explanation.

I think the order will be: Bo Rai Cho, Leatherface, Tri-Borg, and then Xenomorph. Bo Rai Cho is probably closest to being finished after having previous assets to work from and be inspired by. Leatherface next because you gotta put in the guest character asap. Then Tri-Borg because Xenomorph isn't done yet and Tri-Borg already has Cyrax and Sector assets to work form and be inspire by. That's my prediction!

If there are thousands upon thousands of total people, voting in polls across both competitive and casual gaming websites, and speaking on competitve and casuals gaming forums, isn't a good indicator of what fans want in the game, then what is?

For example, personally I had no interest in Fujin whatsoever (so preference bias can't be used here), but it was clear that he was much more requested than Bo and had very little, if any negativity towards his potential inclusion. So if he had made the roster he may not have been for me but I would completely understand the decision. Bo on the other hand was requested half as much, with double the negative response as early as KP1, but was chosen instead. This is what does not make sense to me at all.

Across all these types of websites, the only similarity in the sites themselves is the sameness of the end poll results. So if you have 20 polls with completely different types of fans, and nearly all have certain characters in the top 5ish while guys like Bo hit in the 10-15 range at best, then I'd be willing to assume that it is the best judge of what fans want in the game. If you have a reasoning as to why it isn't a good judge, or an alternative reason that should be considered a better indicator of fan response I'm all ears. I can't come up with anything.

Sounds pretty closed minded, man. Take a look at Tanya from MK4/Deception and MK X Tanya. They're nothing alike.

Also, we were never going to get Rain or Noob or Smoke. Rain was deconfirmed by Boon. Also, if you look at the MK Characters they chose for KP1, it was a character that hadn't been in a game since the 3D era, and one who had never been in a fighting game.

We weren't going to get repeat dlc. As far as any of us know, Bo may have a really fun and engaging playstyle.

Which is really the most important thing. If they're fun to play. Look, a lot of people want to treat MK Lore as sacred, but forget that Liu Kang was an intentional Bruce Lee parody, or that before they came up with Johnny Cage, the devs of MK1 wanted to add Jean-Claude Van Damme as a character to the game.

I'm not saying he isn't gonna get redesigned. He most likely will get one, and will probably be a really good character. I'm saying I could care less what they do with him, and I'm so annoyed by his inclusion that I'll buy the other characters separate. I can't get over the decision seemingly coming out of "screw fan response, I like the big man so put him in" territory. I'll get all my MU exp from Coach Steve since he's salivating over the guy, but not spending a penny on him out of principle.

No repeat dlc, I agree, but. They could have put Noob or Smoke, they put Cyrax and Sektor as a Triborg. Fujin is unexplainable. Hell I saw Sareena get better response let alone Sindel. Even if there were some people that wanted him, which there were, the overall backlash whenever his name was even mentioned was hard to miss. And he was the only character to get such unified online hate outside of mentioning guest, yet he was chosen lol.

I'm guessing this is there way of trying to, I dunno, something? I gots nothing here.

Found some theory here and there, then searched for reps and legit gameplay. Guess what? NOONE was playing her. Then searched NW, found only ONE (Big D).
Rain was at a higher place though, served as 3RD pick for both Foxy and CDjr

Loyalists are too few and belong to more core chars. Also, about competition. Being top 11 won't be enough, there's money on the line here and players who can main any top 3 like they love them (without requesting for any of them)

Point is: it doesn't matter what they want. The players who still request mid to low tier MK9 characters lost their legitimacy a long time ago

This is actually pretty true. I remember the Raven forum being a graveyard the second half of Injustice and she wasn't even that bad lol. People were pushing hard for Zatanna but when she made the roster barely anyone used her. So there's a lot of truth to what you're saying.

I want to see Leatherface first because I'm genuinely interested in what NRS does with him and was actually surprised by the choice to include him. (Says the part of me that trusts the developers that made the games that built this forum)

We think that he is probably the least anticipated new character but we have faith in the creators to make good content.

He will probably be first. Ed Boon on Twitter said we will be seeing him "soon". Also, in KP1 a guest character (Jason) was first -- so they might do the same in KP2 (having a guest character come out first).

I think it will go: Leatherface > Tri-Borg > Alien > Bo' Rai Cho

Either that, or you can swap Tri-Borg with Bo' Rai Cho.

Yeah, it ignores them because internet polls are the only way to measure these things for outsiders. The fact that results for these polls don't differ hugely from one another suggests some amount of cohesion in regards to what the overall fanbase wants.

Besides, you completely dismissed the idea that they would even look at that data. Is that fair?

My point is if you're really going to do "market research" assholes currently reading forums is really just the tip of the iceberg. It may seem like using these polls will generate the greatest user satisfaction, but NRS also has to consider that people reacted VERY positively to Tremor and Tanya, who were similarly hated for not being fan favorites just 6 months ago. That's what market research is, using data and trends to turn pixels into dollars, not just proving how good you are at reading facebook and reddit.

If the world worked in true absolutes and we could ensure that everyone who voted in an online poll would actually vote with their wallet and satisfaction the exact same way then yes, it could be considered a good indicator, but we don't. We live in a world full of fickle creatures who bark loudly and little else.

People want Smoke cause he's not in the game now. 5 years ago? Those same people were probably beating a BRC or Fujin or Li Mei drum. Given the Smoke lovers obviously bought the game without him (Since MKX and its DLC have both sold better than MK9s), what does that say about Smoke's popularity?

This is why your poll evidence is of near zero value. People said MMH is who they wanted for Injustice, but at the end of the day Scorpion outsold him and all the others (probably combined). Same with Freddy vs the "army" of rain fans in 2011. Every single guest has outsold the "natives" despite no end of polls and posts saying "nobody wants guests" which means a lot of people who swear they are native only fans are also closet guest fans. What would the BRC vs FUjin / SMoke ratio look like if you could vote twice?

Point is. Any asshole can put up a poll and get results. Fujin vs BRC sounds like a no brainer, but when the Fujin fans will buy BRC anyway, guess what, BRC is just as popular. NRS knows this, which is why companies like Capcom are scrambling to adopt their policies, and not the other way around.

Also this is at least the third reaction video I've seen where the person has reacted with something along the lines of "where's Fujin?" or "aw man, no Fujin sucks".

He might get overhauled, but the disdain is so strong that I will never like him and I know quite a few feel similar.
It's like you have say 20 MK characters to pick from, and you pick the 13th most desired. Why not a top 5 most wanted? Doesn't make any sense. The only thing I can think of is someone with decision making power likes him personally and chose to add him over actual fan feedback since they'll make money anyway.

A lot of that post replies to this too, but here I'll just add that it's most likely he'll be revamped. The issue is they think someone like me would care, or others like me, when my level of disgust outweighs any revisions they'll make. I will not buy the KP2 and only buy who I like singular for the sole reason that Bo is in it. That's what it's come to now lol.

BRC is my favorite MK character; of course I would be excited to see THE drunken master's gameplay.
They either wanted someone else or are brainwashed into disliking him.

I think NRS would've had a hard time Fujin, so they decided to exclude him for now.
Don't get me wrong, Fujin could've been an excellent addition; at the cost of him being redundant.
Raiden, Kung Jin, Kung Lao, any telekinetic, and Kitana kinda map out Fujin.
Relentless, Inferno, Warlock, and Stunt Double are Noob spread out.
Then again, Sonya and Kung Jin are Cyrax; Jacqui and Cassie being Sektor.
