Hmm I've always considered this advantage Zod: free trait set ups, can swipe and hit at same time to blow up armor, can do his full screen mix ups, godlike back dash that he can cancel into overhead for whiff punish, counter to blow up double punch and venom upper, our dash too long to dash through iazbs, zod charge gets him out of corner and great for whiff punishes, and last but certainly not least is free interactables with trait out or as otgs in debuff... I really don't know how to consider it even.
I'm just going off of what I heard, I don't really care enough to theory fight it.

I havent played it much, @AK Pig Of The Hut says its bane adv, and maybe @BiPolarExxpress says it too. I am just trusting them for now.

That's true but zod only has 1 hit wakeups , so one knockdown and you BOP the crap out if him.

Well he can counter on wake up too, all it takes is one correct read from Zod and he's out though and probably punishing Bane's oki on whiff for it. (Neutral jump command grab, backdash a low start, or counter double punch, venom upper or d2 option selects)

Sounds like more of a guess than a read , also 1 wrong guess is a shit load of damage and another knockdown.

I wouldn't say a raw DP or command grab is shit ton of damage to pay for a wrong guess, unless at level 3 and I meter burn its definitely less than if you were to guess wrong on any other character. I understand I have the advantage on knockdown here but the advantage on knockdown is not enough to make up for the fact that bane might not even touch Zod at all with his godlike zoning arsenal. Maybe @AK Pig Of The Hut can give me a little more experience with the MU but for now I'm still standing by 6-4 Zod.

I put 8-10, but don't be surprised if he gets to top 3. He's absurd.

The only reason he's so low right now is because of some nasty matchups, but who's to say that they may change with enough time put into them? The character almost went through a reverse Sean. He got buffed that much.

Wafflez kinda said it best, you probably won't understand it until you've either been to Chicago or met Max in tournament. I have yet to see a Bane play as well as that, whether by actually playing or watching.

Try using d1 or b2 cancels, opens up oki quite a bit. I thought Zod was overwhelming at first, but it's a matchup you have to keep grinding. Zod has so many little things to pick up on. The zoning is about patience, the second he activates trait is when you take advantage actually. His full screen 50/50 is actually reactable, have done it quite a few times. If they rush you down with trait don't be afraid to pushblock, we don't need the meter and trait is pretty much gone after that. All his strings are fuzzyable as well

Bane's biggest advantage is the present meta, imo. His counters aren't common enough to really hinder him placing or taking 1st: teleporters are the only characters that ignore his momentum, Zatanna being the best of them and simultaneously one of the least used in the game. Aside from teleporters, Cyborg (another under represented character) and Superman, who gives him grief? The list is short enough that I think, with just a little bracketology luck, he can take any major tournament basically...

It's why he's hard to tier, the competitive ecosystem molded by the present top tiers enable him to skip past his bad match-ups in a tourney setting... an analogy would be, let's say SSFAE2012 Akuma had a 3-7 versus Hakan... would that even matter?

6-7 range. Variables play a big role in this game. Could be worse depending on how you play Bane, how the opponent plays their character, and how much you each know the matchups.

What's bad IMO is that a lot of Banes I see are still not doing this or using d2 cancells for that matter. I'm not even a good Bane and I've floored some peoples minds in casuals once they saw that kind of stuff. He is still not being used to his potential by most, but then again how much of the cast is?

Well raw command grab to catch backdash, thats the main thing Zods doing on knock down not waking up. d1, b1, and b2 cancels all whiff on his back dash

That's 100% wrong. B2 works meaty. And d1 d2 cancels always catch the backdash. Honestly sounds like you just need to work on the timing a little bit, that's all.
