Tremor is tooooooooooo fun. Love the corner pressure he has with overhead rocks into low/throw/double overhead mixups or armor breaking. Are there any good setups for DD1?
 
I feel like Aftershock is going to round out as his best variation.

Given the fact that near all of what makes him fearsome is universal across the the board, I feel that its uniquities combined with said universals will make for his most formidable form, especially if/when more uses for the DD1 Quake are uncovered.
What do you think about matchup dependent variation? If the enemy has a good way to deal with air dd1 go crystalline if not go aftershock?

There are some matchups, say against run-heavy characters like Cassie or Lao, where Air Shock has to be a surprise maneuver. Something you condition them not to expect so that the moment they slow down, you can keep them guessing by putting them on their ass. The best thing about Tremor to me is that, IMO, he's one of the strongest bare bones characters if you subtract variations entirely. That's why I favor Aftershock; because of all the tools you get between the three, it's the one that most puts potential aerial assaults in the back of your opponents' minds. Even if you don't use it, it's something they have to take into account every time they make a move. Master your airfare, master your craft.

I think you're underestimating crystalline a bit. The armor has to be kept in mind when it's on. It severely cripples certain characters and regulates a lot of the cast into being more passive and doing a bunch of d3s. Affecting what your opponent will do that much is a pretty good tool.

Tremor's best string for getting things started is 21. It has a bunch of different ways to end it to keep your opponent guessing and open them up. You can finish the string with 2 for an overhead, mix in d4 after the 1 for a low into either another low with dbd1 or an overhead dbd2. I also use the b322 string alot as either of the 2s can be replaced with specials and it starts low.

Is there any use for F2 besides swag? It's only +9 on hit so it doesn't really guarantee a setup or anything.. that's if they do get hit by it lol.

Nope. Anyone even slightly ready for that overhead will block it and punish. If they're quick enough just interrupt you for a full combo punish. That's way too big of a risk for just a hard knockdown imo.

It works as a corner combo ender hard knockdown. Tremor certainly isn't lacking those, but it's a lot more fun to slam a big dumb rock over somebody's head than say 33 or db2. Same results.




Well, same results plus if you land it 3 threes you get that hilarious secret brutality.

Dissapointed that Metallic didnt get anything specific, wouldve liked a bit more advantage on the restands. But hopefully all the combined changes will make his zoning in Gold decent.

more importantly. If they nerfed Tremor to make his B1 and Standing 2 highs instead of mids, does that mean he's got no safe options for his DB1 cancel's to continue pressure?

He got some less recovery frames but does he have safe special to cancel into besides crystal shatter? Also, imo the bad part about his zoning was that you could react to whatever he threw at you and dodged it. The hardest probably being the overhead rock but I think if you run then it will miss regardless. I think it would only hit if the timing of when it comes down and how far your opponent is from you matches so when they get next to you the rock still has a chance to hit them. I feel like they didn't address the bad part to zoning with him.

Idk about the character icon.

But with his cancels it seems he is more susceptible to low pokes. I don't know how feel about that because they didn't make any of his other normals better. You can still do the cancel and play the mind game with crouching normals and armored EX moves. You just have to be more careful now. I think this was done to go with taking out some of the easier looping/guaranteed blockstrings in the game.

Any tremor's on PC? I want to play against him now and see how the matchups have changed for him.

So..... No mid hit starters now. It is going to be hard to pressure at all now. I really thought he'd get a buff to one of his mid hitting normals, not a nerf

Yeah was hoping for a safer f4(i think that's the hopping spin kick) and making his low better. maybe speed up b1 a tiny bit.

LMAO I'm loving his buffed specials. you can combo off a rock throw hitting someone in the air now. Also u can actually jail people in with rock throw thank god. Also db1 in aftershock is even more crazy for controlling spacing lol. Thank god for m2 Dave

I'm not sure if anyone noticed but tremor actually got a nerf from getting buffed. His db2 being faster makes his b1d4u4 db2d and 21d4u4 db2d combos not connect anymore. The reason why this was so important because it allowed u to hit confirm off of just inputting the whole string and special attack. U actually get a window of time to change the way your stone punch hits. Doesn't connect anymore though. Was a really good tool but whatever.

yea i mentioned it in patch notes thread, i used the 21d4u4 db2d combo alot also so i feel your pain,
21d4u4 db2 still works midscreen (aftershocks shatter still connects aswell) but the db2 will whiff in corner so you have to try confirm into db2u.

on the positive side of things i dunno what i like most out the changes, its sweet he can get off ground better now but im really loving tremors new bf4 changes :)

So I'm trying to bite my tongue and not fly off the handle about my block string pressure being taken away from Tremor. M2Dave just said to use AfterShock and the improved air quake. Though in the pressure game his problems are the same. So as calmly and eloquently as I can I will explain my grievance and open the floor to the other Rock Lobster players to offer solutions.

Crystalline: Said by many to be his second best variation. Some said (like myself) it was his most solid one of the three. Crystallization is a great tool in some matchups (cryo sub, Jason etc) ex ground shatter was +11 and could be used to end block strings to further pressure with stand 2 or even F12 if the opponent was scared.

Common block strings with Tremor were F121 (+2 on block) xxx db1 ~ 21d4 xxx db1dd into whatever ender you wanted. Another f121, grab, or another standing 2 for either a 212 string or 21d4u4.

The hole in this was that you could poke Tremor if he went for f1 because the string starts high. So the optimal thing to do was do standing 2 which albeit 10 frame startup was a mid and jailed for the string. Tremor didn't gain any ridiculous meter build, do high block damage and every db1dd cancel took 1 bar of stamina. The good thing was that it let you continue pressure with an otherwise slow character and inch someone to the corner where Tremor can obliterate people.

Now

With standing 2 being a high, imo Tremor has no way to even start pressure without resulting to unsafe measures. In every variation that means doing db3 and trying to advance in hoping the opponent doesn't just block the rock then poke you (which is easy) having nerfed ex shatter to be +5 (why? Quan has the same thing) you can't pressure an opponent because all of Tremor's standing normals are highs. His only viable mid is b1 which has 19 frame startup. You can't even reliably use this in the neutral. If you're lucky enough to hit, you can do b1d4 for a launch.

I know what some are saying. What about Tremor's b3? It has 12 frame startup that's faster than Ermac's. I'm glad you asked. B3 has no range. You literally have to be standing right next to someone for it to hit. Sure you can use b32 for extended range, but as as a block string?that's -14 at best you're gonna get b32 db1 dd and still be in the same situation as before. After db1 dd in block strings or ex ground shatter. There's nothing I can see him doing to continue pressure other than db3 and hoping to god you don't get punished.

So that being said. Tremor mains. What do you got?
