THE OFFICIAL MK11 COMPLAINT/RANT THREAD

Honestly, the game is really messy at times. The inputs really need some tightening up, while the defensive options need to have their unput windows widened slightly. There are so many times when the characters dont' respond properly, too slow to face correctly for example. Blocks that don't block (crouch blocking a low kick).

The game also seems to really want players to land Krushing Blows so much that even the slightest movement, while the attack is incoming, triggers it. I've triggered a KB attack against me just because I was holding down block, not attacking at all.

But my biggest issue with the game, bullshit moves aside, is the variation system. It really bugs me (and no one else I'm sure) that we can only use two, arbitrarily designed variations, in any serious game mode. Sure I can dick about in kasual mode, but that's not the same. It doesn't help that some builds are just plain ass. Cetrion's earthquake build lacks teleport and, given how rubbish she is, she needs it. So why wouldn't you include it. I really REALLY hope they rethink this, but I doubt it.

On the topic of cetrion. Sigh. I'm no expert but I don't see characters like her working at all. I'd even include Skarlet in this. They are just too slow. Cetrion especially has no real focus and just throws things really slowly. Her moves are too awkward to beat the opponent who only has to stand at the edge with any character that can throw fast shit (even kitana or liu kang ffs) and they beat them at their own game. I'ma ssuming Cetrion is meant to be a zoner because I'm not sure what she's meant to do otherwise. It baffles me that you'd design characters that can dominate both close up and at range. How frustrating.
 
I don't like the random damage on fatal blows by mashing buttons. Would be great if it was removed from tournament mode.
The problem with the FB system is the law of unintended consequences. It's a good idea in principle, but the animation goes on far too long. It ends up with the maatch becoming predictable. You know when the enemy is going to do it, but still get hit with it. No matter how valid the play it still feels cheap to lose to a player this way. I think shorter animation moves with less damage might have been better. A bit like the old X ray moves I guess. Instead you get to watch 20 seconds of Ed Boon's torture porn

You do have 50/50 shot depending on how fast you react and what you anticipate. 1 and 3 for side switching throws, 2 and 4 for forward throws. You have to push it as soon as they grab you and can't be initially blocking. A good rule of thumb is if you're in or near the corner, high level players aren't going to throw you out of it on purpose... they're going to try to keep you jailed. So in that case you would normally hit 1 or 3 as soon as they grab you.

If you get thrown, just try to remember if you switched sides or not and react accordingly next time to break it.

Yes I am aware of this but I feel I should have those options on block.....hence my statement

I think MK11 looks very polished, has lush sound design, scoring, and lighting and has great looking character models. The gear looks good but for some reason NRS leaned even harder into RNG. I really hope they come to their senses

The game is so much slower than MKX because everyone is always playing footsie, which I dont mind and I actually enjoy, but with a slower game should come more time than the 90 sec. I lose/win many games just because there is no more time! Wtf come on!
 
tbh the more i play the less stable the game seems. It really has a lot of bugs.

The framerate drops badly during the end animation for certain characters
Some of the in game data (move lists and tutorials specifically) is plain wrong
The wakeup options are broken
The game at times isn't responsive enough at all

EDIT: also the distance between fighters at the staret of round 2 really needs addressing. I've had fights start where the two were so close they were clipping.

This is what you get for using crunch when designing games. You work people to death, get shit results, and don't test things properly

THERE'S JUST NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINING ABOUT FATAL BLOW. THIS VERSION OF "Comeback Mechanic" IS EASILY THE WORST IN ALL OF FIGHTING GAMES. IN ITS CURRENT STATE IT SHOULD BE A CASUAL MODE ONLY OPTION.

For anyone struggling with a tower, stack up on Sack of Silver Dollar konsumables. Erron Black is by far the most broken tag assist. His down assist has him go into a string that is fast, is a projectile and knocks the opponent fullscreen. He's also on the screen so long that by the time he's finished his assist is already 60% charged.

So just to clarify, you think you should should be able to input throw techs while blocking? So youll be able to block strikes and also have a free throw tech attempt at the same time since the button wont come out while youre holding block.

Should your throw tech also launch and have armor?

There are like 3 and a half people playing on pc, and despite a "solid" connection, the lag is atrocious.

Can't recommend to people for pc. stay on console.
 
Not a fan of skins being tied to loadouts. MKX was great as you could choose any variation then any skin to go along with it.

In MK11 they should have had something similar. Allow you to create a set number of outfits, then you choose your variation, then choose your outfit. Now you either have to create multiple loadouts with different outfits or are stuck using the same outfit all the time.

They did so much good stuff in MK11, but missed the mark on many of the small details.
 
Switch version is a TRAVESTY.
Played with my friend and it looked absolutely horrible. Instead of making the models less detailed they screwed up the effects, everything looks blurry as hell.
I watched him beat the story and Frost didn't unlock. Despite having an internet connection and going to eshop the game just refused to connect to the servers. When we played matches you could see it give 300 coins and a heart, and then tick right back to zero. Definitely doesn't work as intended, and I never had these problems on a ps4. (Although the game did crash on me once).

No, I would just like to be able to tech on block in THIS game. Also, it wouldn't be hard to imagine a system, much like the flawless blocks in this game, where there is a cooldown window when you throw an input in on block. I don't think you should just be able to mash buttons while holding block and break throws, but I do believe that if I'm holding block, and see that I am getting thrown I should still have the 50/50 chance to get out.

Or is that to easy mode for you?
