Snips hit it on the head in truth. I can't believe i just read all this but it interesting to see all these takes. REO is right though this is a competitive experience. If you watch basketball do you want to ban Kobe, Lebron, or Durant be cause they are so much better than most of the NBA. Or for a better example should we ban Jon Jones from fighting in MMA cause nobody beats him? The reason I watch sports or FG streams is to watch high skilled play and also to possibly see something unexpected. Honestly before CDjr and Tyrant showed Jax's true form did anyone take him seriously? In truth the character does not make the player its the other way around, so if CDjr wants to use kabal we get to see what he makes Kabal become.

As for the Tier fighting idea, it has merit but you never know if someone has secret tech that makes that low tier character better but they just haven't gotten to a major to show it or are waiting for something big like MLG or EVO. Games evolve just like a sport because as you learn you get better.

I love MK and i love this scene. I think the problem here is that, unlike pro sports there is no separation from "Pro's" and "fans" and that is why we get these situations.

First off, I don't want this thread to be about the chances of nor the reasons for or against Kabal being banned. I'd just like to get the communities opinion on whether we'd have several characters all of a comparable level or it would just be a different single character dominating MU scores.

For instance, it is almost unanimous that after Kabal comes Kenshi and Sonya, however Kenshi beats Sonya, so would it be 4/5 Kenshis in top 8s?

Freddy, Smoke, Raiden, and KL may be even or better MUs vs Kenshi, would we see these 5 characters predominantly?

There wouldn't be another single character dominating MUs across the entire board, because there isn't one, the other two best characters are Kenshi and Sonya but they do in fact have bad MUs. No character should have 6-4's and above on the entire cast, that's moronic. 10-0 on large hitbox characters as well essentially.

Kabal will kill the diversity in the game if NRS doesn't patch him. CD Jr's picking him up specifically to compete with Kabal and I don't blame him. I forsee a lot of Kabal vs Kabal in the future and as we all know Tekken 6 at EVO with Bob vs Bob killed the game. It's in the competitive players best interest to play diverse characters due to the fact that nobody wants to see Kabal vs Kabal, that in turn is going to get MK kicked off MLG pretty damn quickly with no views.

Despite the fact that everyone thinks I'm bitching about the character, ultimately I'm not, I don't travel across the country to play this game competitively but I do enjoy the fact that there's been diversity in this game. We've seen most of the cast in top 8-16 but everyone's starting to pick up Kabal to deal with Kabal since he is indeed in a tier of his own. Without people interested in the game and without people watching the streams this game will die; Kabal will cause that swift death. I'm an outsider in all of this, I'm not trying to get that paper, but for the guys who are...you should listen to this because it is indeed going to effect you. You all know how MLG operates, Esports without the fans will not get you paid.

Well I know how this thread will turn out, that said...yeah the likes of Kenshi, Lao, etc might start filling the role but I feel most of the roster have a better chance at competing against these characters.

Be a shame if tournies had to resort to banning Kabal. If you removed his nomad dash cancel, he'd still be damn good just not broken anymore.

I don't agree in any way that Kabal should be banned. And how bad is a 6-4? If he had only 7-3's that would be a problem. For the scene alone it's good there's a dominant char - you always have a challenge to beat. But for tournament scene, not so good because there is a very high probability that all finals are going to be Kabals, which may be not so entertaining. And don't forget, Jade vs Kabal is 9-1, so I'll be happy to see Kabal dominate the scene because Jade will be raping him.

I think mu charts are a little off anyway. I do however believe Kabal is the only character that doesn't have a losing mu. I expect to see a lot more Kung Lao's after Anaheim. No one uses KL right and soon everyone will believe he is top 5...sorry if I got off track.

Im glad im not seeing any "BUT SOMEONE ELSE WOULD BE THE BEST THEN" arguments.

Kabal is miles ahead of everyone.
Were he to not be in the game, it wouldnt harm a thing.

I think Foxy's Kung Lao is the best i've played and he plays him right. I've heard Used for Glue's is good as well. You guys have the Kabals, but we have the Lao's. Be interesting to see how our Laos do against your Kabals at EVO. I'm hearing Raiden is a good choice against Kabal as well...

If all tournies are 90% Kabals, I certainly won't be watchin them. Nothing against Kabal (as I play online & no1 really uses Kabal, never mind using him REO-like), but I hate watchin the same stuff over n over.

Anyway, if Kabal gets nerfed or banned, ppl will just cry about another character.

I just don't understand it, man. REO could blow people up with a known shitty character like Kano, I know he could, because he is indeed that good of a player. Jr was doing phenomenally well with Jax who was nowhere near dominant. I understand the desire to win, but if that desire is going to get the game you've invested thousands of hours into and are traveling across the country because you're so passionate about the game then maybe...just maybe it'd be smart of you to try to preserve the interest in that game. Again, this is not 3rd strike, you cannot see a tournament consisting of Chun Li, Ken and Yun alone and somehow STILL be hyped due to the parry and the skill involved from that mechanic. I wish MK had that, but it doesn't.

The counter-picking is bad enough, but watching KUHBAWL vs KUHBAWL throughout the entire top 8 will guarantee that I and many others will never watch this game on stream again.

Ahhh third strike. While that indeed had the "God Tier", there was also the Demon Tier which consisted of Makoto and Urien. People forget how good those characters were, one touch, and you were dead. Some of you should search for RX Urien on YouTube. That guy was a monster, and yes there is footage of him trashing Daigo's Ken as well.

Before YUN, Daigo used Ryu in SSF IV. Ryu, considered good, wasnt top tier, yet Daigo was dominating with him. Daigo switches to YUN and at the last EVO, we saw Daigos Yun lose to Seth who has the worst health in the game.

There will always be another game. Just reap the cash till it's possible. NRS should be concerned about the game's life.
