.........................AtrocitousGuys here's a picture from Comic Con
Look at the screen next to Boon. Who the hell is that? Big red robot thingy?
This could be flash in his costume. Like the, gear costume. I don't know. Any thoughts anybody?

Honestly, the $ amount doesn't matter. It's still that much more money than our players would have for nothing more than showing off their game in the competitive spotlight.um.. wasn't the bonus like 70 grand?
It's weird that you say a balance patch or esl would be big, but a pot bonus for an upcoming tourney is not. Both announcements "only" affect the competitive scene.A pot bonus for a tournament would not be something BIG for mkx. That would only affect a part of the competitive scene.
Something big involves a patch (almost sure, because he has teased it with the polls) or kp3 (less likely), or new season of esl.
I've had fun answering the multitudes of "What was the announcement at EVO?" and "What happened to the announcement at EVO????" questions from casuals. Oh and the people asking me "Why would they announce a pot bonus at evo?" when I said that the evo announcement was related to evo (ie the pot bonus announcement which came an hour later) and not happening at evo like they assumed. I've no idea where the sudden naivety came from lol.At this point, people have just assumed ed boon is making an announcement at every damned tournament. Half the internet is still convinced he promised some EVO announcement and then "cheated" us out of it with a measley pot bonus.
Uh yes it would. A £10,000 pot bonus is BIG. Tournament mode was big news for Injustice 2 and only really affected tournament players. Plus neither of us know what Ed considers big news anyway, can't just assume things.A pot bonus for a tournament would not be something BIG for mkx. That would only affect a part of the competitive scene.

... but right on cue, here's someone to remind us its not a big announcement unless its characters or a patch;

Great response and 100% trueI don't really think that is true. A pot bonus is not only scoped entirely to the tournament scene, but even further to a handful of guys that have shown they always end up at the top. A shot at a chunk of change is big news to those guys, but there aren't many of them comparatively speaking - even when talking about general entrants. Out of the 700 at EVO, how many people would any of us really expect at having a genuine shot at breaking into the pot money? 10? 15? 20?
A patch may not be something everyone can see benefit from, but it definitely impacts a much larger group of people. It directly affects everyone at every tournament. They all care about it, and it even matters to the enthusiast crowd. People like me who can't really MK good enough to compete, but still are quite invested in the game. I understood what it meant to have Cassie lose her armor on ex flip. I also understood that I didn't care because brawler was getting armor on her command grabs. I've applied that knowledge at home in random fights. I understand patches, and I'm not competitive. I don't know how big my group is, but it + the competitive scene has got to be a bigger number than the competitive scene alone.
You could say feeding the scene with money so there is a show to watch counts for something, but it's starting to get existential, and I think a lot of people want something more tangible than that. If you want the entire public hype over something (Twitter and all that) it needs to be for the entire public. At this point tournament money is a fine thing, but it doesn't feel like news and it's not tangible to the masses, so I think feeling that another prize pot announcement is something different than "big news" is valid.
*forever the typo king
good find. My god his eyebrows are evil in that video. the information they are holding back...
It seemed like he carefully thought about what wording to use there, i'm curious to see what it turns out to be.
I'd be happy with that honestly.Random shot in the dark.
Xbone/PS4 cross play for MKX as a test to see how it works for I2.
Wtf, it seemed he hadn't even thought he would be asked that question, it took ages for him to say...nothing xDIt seemed like he carefully thought about what wording to use there, i'm curious to see what it turns out to be.
Oh no, I get it. You guys think there's some weird tier rankings between cool / big / swarthy / jumbo / bug type announcements. It's cute."pot bonuses don't matter to gross casuals" (paraphrased)
The point is MKX is over a year old and its still on the tip of everyone's tongue even though nothing, literally nothing has been released or revealed for it in almost six months. Now I can understand about feeding us with bit of information on a new product. But I dont really understand whats with the secrecy with MKXL update. I dont really see a point in such approach.
FTFYHave fun being disappointed. Again.
It should be more to the effect of small/news, medium/good, and large/big with GGPO being "big" news. But "good" is never good enough so everything is amazing, there is literally no longer a word that literally means literally, and when people really, really, REALLY need to express how ridiculous something is they have to throw their hands up in the air and say something about how it's redonkulous. Language is supposed to be tiered.Oh no, I get it. You guys think there's some weird tier rankings between cool / big / swarthy / jumbo / bug type announcements. It's cute.
