Tekken Tag Tournament 2 General Discussion

Yeah some are too small but the core thing is that the game mechanics it self allows for an easy comeback , rage and tag crash are huge in this game even if the sidestepping is a little better than t6 , many teams can do 100+ dmg even midscreen IMHO that's huge and you can easily lose a match from a random launcher , tag crash also gives an easier second chance when your back is at the wall , im not saying you should lose a match the moment your back is at the wall but sometimes tag crash is the easy way out and it's just a little part of the game
What's the standard damage you can expect from a combo? Firstly a solo combo and then one that involves a tag assault. Just so I can have an idea of what numbers are good and what not.

I'm fairly new to Tekken, I've played a few of the older ones but I've been practicing and studying up on the mechanics of TTT2. Started out playing only Baek solo, now I'm messing around with Baek/Dragunov mainly just experimenting in practice mode, and practicing korean dash cancelling etc. I'm having more fun playing this game than MK at the moment.

What's great about Tekken is there is so much to unlock with just one character. I think i'm getting a fairly basic grasp of Bruce and Nina now, and i've virtually spent most my time in the lab. This game has a lot of longevity.

I think i'd like to tackle KING at some point. Mardock looks pretty cool as well.

I'm just starting to learn Dragunov but I'm still learning new shit with Baek from watching high level matches on youtube. Haven't seen any vids of a Baek/Dragunov team though.

I think I'll play Lei at some point but the sheer size of his movelist is too much right now.
That's kind of how I am towards KING, but its a matter of just memorising grab combos. I've got about three with Nina memorised and with 4 buttons, they become second nature with enough practice. But KING is definitely on my radar of next mains.

B W1zZ I took Dragunov for a spin in the lab like I have with a lot of characters, but nothing about him grabs my attention. But I heard he's quite a tank once a player gets good with him. He can do crazy stuff like reverse those running jumping kicks into a grab and combo, i'm pretty sure he's the only character that can reverse a grab hold on him into his own grab combo.

Solo really depends on the character , average is 70+ midscreen from a common df2 launch , it really depends on the initial launcher , midscreen to wall !B at least 85+ , with TA midscreen at least 80+ and midscreen to wall with TA at least 100+ dmg all of this without counting rage , if your team can't reach that damage you should add someone with good TA fillers , it helps a lot.

^Dragunov is a very momentum based character , it's hard to open up a good opponent with him and his tracking isn't the best out there

What filler do you use personally for Bryan? Or different ones for different combos?

I use his B214 when I call him in for a Feng combo. Well actually it starts with Bryan---->raw tag Feng----->tag assault Bryan------>combo ender Feng.

If you dig hard enough at Tekken Zaibatsu .... they do have good answers and easy to find combo's for exactly this situation.

NKZero you should use different fillers basing on your position in the screen ( especially if near the wall ) , most commonly used TA fillers with bryan are b3f412 for wallcarry ( or qcf412 if b3 makes the f412 whiff ) , b212 ( good approaching walls but !B must happen around 4-5 hits ) b24 ( good filler midscreen for damage ) , b3f34 or WS34 ( after wall !B ) , some may use also a JU if your partner can use an air throw ( AK , King , Marduk , Lars ) but it's not much damaging ) , that's what comes to my mind atm

I will experiment with 'em all...thanks a lot for this. Atm I've the combo I mentioned nets me 108 damage which is good I guess. I'll test out the fillers especially when I approach the walls.

Heres a few kustom baek/dragunov combos i've been practicing starting from baek:

Baek: db+2, db+3,3(hold forward) 1 F4,tag, 132(dragunov) then df+3+4 (baek)
Baek: db+2, db+3,3(hold forward) 433 (hold forward) B3 tag, 132(dragunov) then df+3+4 (baek)
Baek: uf+4 or FLA uf+3, 433 (hold forward) 3,3 (hold forward) B3 tag, 132(dragunov) df+3+4 (baek)

Still familiarizing myself with the tekken notation. I realize there are probably higher damaging ones but I'm still getting used to the tag system and just started learning dragunov.

thats amazing, i wanna fight myself! you know lately ive been thinking of this concept exactly as you have explained, im happy to find it already exists. its so cool and makes you feel like you are not fighting AI, its good for training
Yeah ghost mode is godlike. It's far from perfect, but they improved it over time. I remember in tekken 5 (not DR) the AI couldn't record juggles. Then they fixed that in tekken 6. Now in tekken tag they do tag combos; the last thing they need to do as make them able to dash cancel and that's it.

I don't see why MK or injustice couldn't have this, considering tekken is a 3d game it should be way less complicated. The AI in mk on expert can't even do basic bnb, or punish for big damage, while in tekken tag 2 I get whiffed punished all the time, anti-air combo'ed, and not to mention the AI rarely drop combos (and it's not even on the hardest difficulty).

:( "I'm still free to the AI though"

The ai in ttt2 between easy and ultra hard doesn't seem any different to me lol and I still can't find a damn match!

Is he a good character? Was the Dark Knight a good movie? Lol
haha well that definitely answered my question! It's a shame though because I still suck with him. I gotta watch some vids of him and learn a lot more before he looks good in my hands.

Lars is what you call easy mode. You do have much to get the W. He's fast, he can crush everything, and he's pretty safe on block. There is plenty of EVO and tournament footage of Lars on YouTube.

I heard slips was using Tiger Eddy on a stream? Is this true?
yeah... nothing like Eddy and then... a sorta different Eddy.

and thanks Foxy and THTB for the games. It is so much more fun to play against you guys, i'll actually learn something. Hopefully we can do that more often. but not too often... I need wins every now and then!!!

Remind me to practice breaking throws before we play then. :)
