F122, B2 RC F421+3 is killing me. I've been practicving it for hours to no success. I'm able to get it maybe 1 in 100 tries or even worse. I'm asking myself if NRS could make the link on this any harder. I can do B2 RC with no problems, but linking anything after F122 is a nightmare.

Anyone able to do this consistenly? What is your secret? I can't figure out the timing to run and cancel it into F421+3. Even getting proper timing on B2 itself after F122 is hard. Please help me out here...
F122 into B2 causes too many issues to be a reliable combo (even if you know you can connect it, the possibility that it whiffs or sends the opponent the other way you were expecting makes it unreliable). As long as it's not fixed, my recommendation is F122, F122, F421+3, the damage is close to the other combo, it doesn't use stamina, and it's easy to connect (you only need to press Forward once during the whole combo and you keep it pressed).

Note that whiffing F1 and then connecting the 22 puts the opponent at the right position to connect a B2 with no problems at all, I hope they fix the F122 string so it always leaves the opponent at that position, eliminating the "random side" problem that shouldn't exist.

A thousand thanks man, this is greatly appreciated! I also tried doing F122, NJP, FJP, F421+3, hammer. This is fairly easy, but I was struggling to get another F421+3 in if I spend a bar of meter on the first DB2. I'll definitely try your combo, thanks again!

11/ b12 xx ice ball, jip, f122, b2, f42 1+3, just for reference. The 11 starter and the b12 starter function differently due to the stance switch. If you're having issues with a particular starter, just switch stances after the freeze. This combo is odd in that the success depends on a slight change in hurt box caused by stance after freeze.

It's not impractical if you're aware of the quirk. It's also practical just outside of corner where the b2, b2 after freeze wouldn't connect properly.

I just started messing around with cryomancer today and I'm having trouble too, but just getting the f4 to connect after the run cancel. Also, does anyone know when there's a DB2 after each combo? It doesn't seem like it actually cancels and that the startup is too slow...

EDIT: I wasn't putting in the input early enough, got it now.

Cryo vs GM was one of my favorite MU's even before the recent buffs. They way GM clones and throws ice ball, thinking Cryo ji1 won't beat clone clean. Can't imaging what that's like now lol.

I played a good Johnny Cage with the new Cryo, and much of the time I was overwhelmed by how deep my own bag of tricks went. From the 40% combos, with more in the tank if I needed a round ended, to the reset potential of ice blast or just not even canceling cold blooded. The ambiguous cross up game with whiff slide post knockdown was pretty silly. In the corner, slide>neutral jump puts you back on the outside, ruining reversal inputs, and midscreen gives perfect distance for strike/ throw mixup. The air hammer armor shred/ double OH shenanigans were helpful lots of times, for both chip and raw damage. This character is very strong now, obviously.
The biggest issue I have with Cryomancer is the fact that he just seems like Reptile-Lite. Feels like Reptile does everything he does plus way more. Dankster mentioned his air-normals, but thats about where it starts and where it ends. And Reptile has sooo much to make up for that one set back.

I think the inputs are wrong for these. Can you tell me the correct ones, and whether these BnBs are for the corner or midscreen? Because I tried them in the corner changing EX DB2 for EX DF2, but couldn't land them anyway. @themilkman014

I believe those are midscreen. I have them sectioned under midscreen in GM.

You have to switch stances, for some reason there is a bug preventing B12 to cancel into EX Clone if your stance mirrors your opponents (both looking to the screen or both not looking to the screen).

It is better this way

I wouldn't go as far as reptile lite. Reptile in deceptive it probably better but it's different. Cryo is all about punishing, and everything ends in a hkd so he can keep momentum after a 40% combos. The ex ice burst and back dash is as good or better as a "get off me" tool than reptile has. F4 hammer is really good on block against anyone without a forward advancing reversal. The air normals go without saying. Backdash spacing out into F24 is awesome. Everything cryo has meshes together really wel. I also think sub has the better version of slide for handling most projectiles. Cryo is also a good companion to GM and can switch based on when he needs to. Wheras if reptile gets beat in deceptive he will probable get beat across the board. Also D2 and standing 1 are good anti airs.

But still: can you freeze your opponent with EX Ice Clone after a string? I didn't know that was a thing. I tried it yesterday, and wasn't able to, even with the flip stance.

No, you don't freeze him (well in some corner setups you can but that's not what you're trying with this combo), what you're doing is using the frame advantage of B12 into EX clone to conect a F4 that still counts as part of the same combo. You have to do it fast but it works and this way you get a longer combo that is safer on block than B12 EX Iceball.

Can we get an edit to the anti air shatter combo section? It's a little ambiguous at the moment, but a pretty potent part of Grandmasters corner game.

I'll work on it when I'm home on break (Thanksgiving) from University. I'll explicitly state the scenario so it's less of a guess. Sorry about that.

I state that you anti air with db1 and then follow up with a b2 (in range/plenty of time) or a run up anti air jab (they've fallen considerably and you need a faster conversion).

Beyond this I don't have many more anti air options beyond a standard b2 or NJP. If you have more suggestions please share. I haven't played much mkx lately due to work, school, and primarily boredom (can we get some new characters already!).

you can input 123 almost immediately after you hear the armor activation sound from EXDB3. It takes some practice though and you can always just replace any Unbreakable corner combo from a B2 with a Universal route instead.

I catch people a lot with NJK. That thing is active for days and is huge. It is basically foot dive from UMVC3. I've also caught people crouching by using it as an instant overhead.

The only reason he's not simply "winning" in tournaments is because those 3 chars you constantly see placing in tournaments are the only ones who beat him in the matchup.
