Sony reveals the Playstation 4

Today is Sony's PlayStation Meeting and it is strongly believed that the PS4 will be revealed. (I will laugh if it's just an update to Home or something).

**UPDATE**

It was revealed.

Here is the information revealed by Sony so far.

It will be called PlayStation 4 and not Orbis.

It will be released in the 'holiday season' in 2013.

It has a custom chip for background processing, Gaikai power for digital games, video uploads as you play and the ability to browse live video and view other people’s streams.

The PlayStation 4 Eye will feature two high-sensitive cameras that have wide-angle lenses with 85-degree diagonal angle views which can recognize the depth of space precisely. This enables PlayStation 4 Eye to cut out the image of player from background, or to grasp players’ position in front and behind. It will feature four microphones which are capable of accurate sound detection and source origination. In addition, users will be able to login to their PS4 with face recognition.

The lightbar on the controller will also be able to judge the positions of multiple players, and set characters in the same positions or let a character talk to a particular player, enabling players to enjoy games in new way.

The PlayStation 4 will allow you to save a current gaming session while the system is in sleep mode. The feature was detailed by Lead System Architect Mark Cerny moments ago. By pressing a power button (on the controller, or system), you can put the system to sleep while your game is saved in the background - much like with PS Vita.

Sony has showcased the extent and ease in which users will be able to upload videos directly from within game. A gameplay video showcasing the new PS4 title Killzone Shadow Fall was uploaded to the Facebook page live at the show.

Capcom Street Fighter legend Yoshinori Ono took to the stage at the PlayStation Meeting to announce Deep Down for PlayStation 4 (working title). The company displayed a short demo of the game, which aesthetically shares many similarities with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, being a fantasy-themed title. The demo showcased a group of knights attacking a dragon in real-time, though little else was revealed on the title. The game is being powered by Capcom's brand new engine, codenamed Panta Rhei.

PlayStation 4 will not support PS3 games, but via Gaikai's cloud-streaming service they have the technology that can allow PsOne, PS2 and PS3 games to be played on any device, including PlayStation 4. Gaikai's CEO David Perry also confirmed that the cloud-streaming company has envisioned a future where games from every PlayStation console could be streamed to PS Vita.

A dramatic reduction to transmission times essentially makes your PS4 a server, and your PS Vita the client. An on-stage demonstration showed off PS4 title Knack running in real-time on a PS Vita.

Sony will also be releasing a PlayStation App for iOS and Android, allowing players to use their tablets and smartphones as second screen for their systems. This is not unlike Microsoft's Xbox SmartGlass app currently available on Android and iOS.

According to the second released document, the DualShock 4 will have a stereo headset jack for the Mono Headset that will be bundled with every PlayStation 4. Unlike it's predecessor, the DualShock 4 can also charge while the PlayStation 4 is on standby.

The updated PlayStation Eye for the new console will include two cameras and four microphones, so players can control games with body movements or vocal commands.

The Eye also has face recognition, allowing visual user logins.

So basically, they just announced the Vita will act like the nintendo Wii U gamepad whenever someone take sover the TV you are playing on.
