Im seriously considering picking Ronin (back) up. Its weird since he was the first character I played in tournaments so I've come full circle lol.

I really like to do restands into throws. Then when they try and backdah do blade/drop call to punish those. My question is if I end in restand and throw the sword, can I break armor attempts with blade kall?

You can, but it's not consistent - if blade kall hits twice, you will stuff (most) armor moves, but if it doesn't hit twice - bad news.

yeah ronin is not very good at breaking fast/average speed armor as far as i've seen. anyone know what the startup is on blade kall i don't trust the frame data in game

i discovered some new max damage combos lol. got 54 off 2 meter jiP 44 starter. uses same starter as b21 by canceling into bf2ex - pretty happy about it.

b21 2+4 db1 is around +3 on block
f1 2+4 first hit db1 is about -1 on block
2 1 db1 is about -1 on block
3 3 db1 is about 0 on block
i cant tell how fast doing db1 db1 is compared to normals but it will beat 7f non armor attacks on those at least. there are some cancels that leave you -7 or worse so not there.

without blade
f1 2+4 1st hit db1 around +1 on block
33 db1 is around +2 on block

F1 2+4 db1 gets beat by reversals every time. Sure you didnt mean df1?
Same thing with 33.

What I think is really interesting is the sparks with f1 2+4. Basically you can do f1 2+4 and cancel into spark everytime and be safe(its a true blockstring). The best part though is you can EX the spark and be plus 6(If you f33 right after it beats a ton of armored reversals). Im thinking that could be one way to play footsies.

Also I am sure this is already known but the EX spark absorbs projectiles. Pretty good anti-zoning tool.

Im still looking for BnBs so if anyone has good combos to recommend I'd love to hear them.

yo, I believe that cancelling into spark was safe even pre-patch. I've always cancelled into spark if I don't wanna lose my blade normals/specials.

I'm sorry but can everyone here go watch @Pig Of The Hut's past broadcast of Red Hot Sunday's, if you haven't already, and can we talk about how @RedRaptor10 has been keeping all the sweet corner tech to himself in the most selfish of manners!

Just kidding obviously but I watched that match between him and Milky and completely lost my shit. It felt good seeing Takeda played at the highest level and huge props to Milky for being able to go tit for tat with the best Takeda out there. Awesome display of MKX imo.

P.S. @RedRaptor10 can I get some of those corner combos?? Especially the corner side switch stuff. That SR corner game was on point!

What are you guys doing for corner combos? I havent found a way to keep them in the corner using EX blade kall combos so here's what I've come up with:

Starter EX fist flurry ji1 ji1 d1 21 blade spark

Any tips on better ones? Or is his corner game just not that great?

i didn't win one game with Ronin lol thanks though. i'm not even that good and it was online so i wouldn't really call it the highest level. The more I play Ronin the more I feel like he's not as great as people are making him out to be.

The corner combos are in the guide btw.

Some corner combos i've been doing are:
starter-> mb fist flurry njp jump back 3 21 (probably the only standing reset combo worth doing)
b212+4 close blade drop ex blade kall run d1 21 piercing spark
b3 close blade drop ex blade kall run d1 njp 21 piercing spark

Idk man I rewatched it, for the most part it seemed like you just weren't familiar with the character and how to use his tools to your advantage. You seemed almost hesitant, and also missed a few key punishes. Your SR was godlike as always.

im pretty familiar with Ronin, not Reptile tho lol. Also punishing elbow dash online is impossible (not that i'm complaining, Milky is extremely good with Reptile). Ronin's good, i just don't feel he's this top tier character that some people are saying just because he got buffed or a block infinite that works on like 6 characters. I still think SR is best after this patch.

i think ronin is top tier based on my observations of other chars and his new frame data, but time will tell of course
