I'm saying this right now, she's extremely linear. I never said her options weren't good, the problem is is that while they are very good, they are simply the tools that you need to watch out for the most. This helps me out because it narrows down what I need to focus on, and that's huge. Granted it is very much enough to do a lot with, but it doesn't excuse that this results in holes in her game that Reptile CAN very much exploit. Like I said, what is your answer to shit like d4 xx acid hand on block at max range? d4 or divekick and hope for the best. What buttons besides divekick and EX cartwheel do you have outside of d4 range? I can f2 at that range, EX forceball or dash your limbs, EX dash and if you don't divekick my shit, I'm at advantage. You can't just come up and try to d4, because I can very easily smack you with b4 and it wins EVERY time (Yes, it's risky). What that does is knocks you back, and my wakeup game comes into play. This can simply force hesitance on you doing d4.
There's a lot more to this matchup than just divekick > all for damage. I'm not completely neutered and you still have to play your shit right at times, because Reptile still has answers. 4-6 in your favor is most likely, but 5-5 wouldn't surprise me much further down the road.
I seriously don't believe Reptile vs Sonya will ever be 5-5. It's like she was designed by accident to counter every thing Reptile is built around sort of like Kenshi vs Jade match up in particular. Sonya has way too many advantages over Reptile. Up close Sonya literally shuts down every option he has. Reptile has the zoning advantage with Forceballs and Acid Spits if he has the lead but he has to respect her Pink Rings projectile on trades. F0xy Grampa is the only Sonya player I've seen in King of the Hill rooms that dominate this MU to the fullest, it's that bad and sometimes he ends up with Babalities with it. I can only imagine the window punishment on Reptile offline is so much more worse that this MU may possibly end up being 3-7, 4-6 at best and no way shape or form 5-5. Some things I've noticed he did in several counter attack advantages she has over Reptile.
Reptile's Elbow Dash - Sonya Dive Kick punish
Reptile's Ex Elbow Dash - Jump over block first hit then Dive Kick Reptile or crossover Jump Kick~Air Grab
Reptile's Slide/Ex Slide - Dive Kick
Reptile's Forceballs - Pink Rings on trade... then AA his Dash~jump in attempts, Arc Kick if timed right
Reptile's D4 - cross over Jump Kick~Air Grab, Jump Kick~D4~Cartwheel combo, Dive Kick
Reptile's pokes D1,D3 - Dive Kick
Reptile's Uppercut - Dive Kick
Reptile close offense - Dive Kick whiff punish, standing 1 offense with D1 AA opportunity
Reptile's Acid Hand/Forceball up close - Ex Cartwheel
The good thing is that Reptile can whiff punish her D4, standing 1, Dive Kick and Cartwheel with his Elbow Dash and Slide. I think outside the sweep range where Sonya can't reach him with her D4~MS/Dive Kick he has a chance but he needs to respect what she is capable of doing to him at that range as well. There is more risk for Reptile fighting Sonya than there is for her fighting him.
