Reexamining the Leaked Character Select Screen and Speculating Secret Unlockable Characters

With Shang Tsung being DLC, and not an unlockable like the "leak" said, all the proof we have is this image

Taking into consideration we know there are 6 DLC characters( one being Shang Tsung) + 1 preorder character Shao Kahn, that still leaves us with 3 unaccounted for slots.

Could possibly mean 1 more base roster character and 2 hidden unlockables. Or if shao is considered the 25th slot(confirmed below he is not part of the 25th), then 3 unlockables. I highly doubt DLC pack 2 would only have 3 characters, with the first having 6.

One of the slots could also be for "random Select" so have to keep that in mind.

Spoiler: Dev confirming we haven't seen the 25th person yet

-I think the Cyborg in the background of the new stage (possibly Hydro) is going to be DLC, and not an unlockable
-The "Traveler" could also be someone you unlock through the Krypt, or he is the younger version of someone we already know/heard of.

They have confirmed that there will be unlockable characters.

Shang has been confirmed to be DLC, but what does that mean for Mileena that was mentioned alongside Shang as "unlockable".

I honestly don't see Mileena being DLC, so I think she really is one of the missing slots.

- if they consider Shao Kahn (pre-order bonus) as part of the 25 grid char slots, so, the last 2 slot places will be filled with Cetrion and Jax

- if Shao Kahn, being DLC, is an "extra" slot, so, for the initial 25 slots, you have Cetrion and Jax, and the very last slot, can be anyone we don't know yet

I dont know man. I dont think Jax will be in. I mean, why wouldnt they show Jax in the story if he was in? Every base-roster character has some story role in the game. We have never seen Jax in any of the clips. They would at least try to show him off in story trailer or something. I think he's skipping this one. If he's really classic and loved like some people think, then he's probably DLC? Not sure about that, but I would be fine with him passing this one out. He would be really similar to Jacqui now, the grab, shoulder charge, beam attacks etc. Jacqui has all of them. If he was in, I dont think Jacqui would have the shoulder charge. Mileena is probably DLC, she has no reason to be in story mode. Last 2 are Cetrion and Kronika.

Who said Kronika wouldnt be able to be playable this time around, anyways? It's just like the "if x character was DLC before he wont be again" shit, its baseless, there's no source.

TL;DR: Mileena is probably DLC, Jax is sitting this one out.

She would sell a lot. Sindel and Sareena... Sindel is maybe. Sareena? Don't think so. Sindel fans are annoying and vocal, and while Sareena has fans (I'm one of them) we are not vocal about it. She wouldnt be in.

Also, if she were really brought in from the past, I see no reason to not include her in story mode. She's a big fan favourite. There's no need to hide her, is there? That trailer literally confirmed 3-4 characters to be in. Why is Mileena is an exception?

My take:

SHA at the bottom is Shao Kahn, who is counted in the 25. The slot next to him is Random Select.

Six slots for the Kombat Pack DLC.

The slots on either side of Jacqui and "Cetrion" are EITHER:

• Two unlockable characters
• Slots for a final bonus pack of 2 additional DLC characters
• Nothing at all (it's just an early build and they made it symmetrical as a dummy object)

I do not think anyone who was in MKX will be DLC in MK11, so Mileena as an unlockable character feels plausible (for story spoiler reasons, like Cyber Sub). I just find it hard to believe that a modern MK game will leave Mileena totally out, but it could happen!

I think is very improbable they will let Mileena out of this party .... either if she is secret or dlc, doesn't matter, I think NRS more certainly will not make the huge mistake of let her out of MK11 ... sure is, she is not main story mode material, so, of course she will not appear none moment during the story mode, but, will end being part of the game, in a way or another !!

As a huge passionate fan of Mileena, at this point, I really don't care if NRS will put her in MK11 as secret or DLC, what matter the most it's her being in the game ! I love that bitch !

I'm of the opinion that's a very early build in the leaked image and taking it as evidence over the current up-to-date build which only has 25 slots is a hilarious error in judgment. There's a number of explanations for the other slots - placeholders, cut candidate characters, formatting, etc. If there was anything else in the game, why aren't there any other names on there? No point in keeping secrets in a classified dev build.

Surprise factor? I mean, why didn't they show Jax? Sub-Zero? Why was Frost hidden?

Hell, they could pull a Joker from Injustice 2 and have her only show up for one fight for all we know. (A Kitana VS. Mileena fight is long overdue)

Lmfao you must not know me because I feel like I've been the most vocal Mileena fan on here in the past month.

I know she's popular, I mean...to think she isn't would be the dumbest mistake someone could make.

But, you also have to think why would they have her as DLC when she was in the last game? Why wouldn't they give that spot to someone who hasn't had a chance yet? (It's the same reason I don't see Ermac or Reptile being DLC)

I have a feeling I want her in more than the majority of people on here. But, I want her on base. I feel like there are a ton of female characters more deserving of a DLC spot and a second chance.

Not gonna lie, that is one good looking roster. I really hope we'll get secret unlockables they won't cover on the KKs. Millena and Human smoke anyone? Maybe even Sector or Cyrax? Two in one? Three in one with Smoke?

I think you’re right on the money here. I don’t want to be a wet blanket but I’m pretty sure what you see in that image is what you’re getting. A lot of people setting themselves up for disappointment.
