Our scene's drama used to be fun. Occasionally it still is, but literally anything related to PL ain't it.
Imagine telling people to watch the video before commenting - I couldn't get past the first 30 seconds of PL's terrible incoherent rambling.
But that, in his own bipolar logic way, is exactly the point he's trying to prove: no one is in a hurry to do the work and read between the frames like they used to.
He does an objectively terrible job trying to make his case, but the points are in there, and no one seems to want to acknowledge them because it's easier to just dismiss it as another crazy PLUFO sighting over the desert, but for the hundredth time...is he wrong?
Because whether anyone wants to admit it or not, if there's a real greatest of all time discussion to be had, there's no universe where Sonic doesn't have an asterisk by their name as far as the rest of the world at large is concerned, if only because of the games they got famous dominating and the reputation that NRS and its' games now have. And that's before you take into account all the times they tried and failed to branch out. All of totality taken into account, if this is the basketball starting five/MJ in the 90's VS Lebron and Steph Curry in the age of no defense debate, do they start from the bench? Do they even make the team? Because there are probably at least eleven people you'd have to mention first if you put the people in the room who remember all the names and faces.
Is it a really weird hill to die on? Absofuckinglutely.
But, I am simply saying that I can see how he got up there.
And I am also saying that if Fox ever DOES manage to break through to the other side someday and win a major in SF or Tekken, this whole debate is going to need a redo.
For now, though, it doesn't matter how long NRS keeps building games for them to dominate that are so mechanically simple and overwhelmingly offense-based that there might be three or four characters on the whole roster that do something other than the same starter + link + launch + air combo + ender + place Kameo accordingly formula...Fox could conquer them all, and every other game they touch, and be the Matt Cardona/Ultimo Dragon/Champion With Nine World Titles But None Of Them Are The WWE Title for a hundred years, and it still wouldn't register as loudly as finally putting that monster to bed. Terrible attempt to get his point across, but a valid point nonetheless.
And that's not a knock against Fox, because they have a brain like a Ben Affleck In The Accountant sponge that can play anything you put in front of them and pick up entire characters in hours...that's a knock against NRS, who have been scared shitless since Injustice 2 to do anything different or provocative without waiting a year to patch it into the game so they can look like they're doing us a favor.
Also, I would just like to say that, while I am in no way acting as legal representation for Carl "Perfect Legend" White, the fact that no one ever wants to talk about the weird real life clouds that have been hanging above Sonic and NRS since way before Final Kombat frustrates me enough that I could not resist picking this apart for the sake of the logical pearl inside the clam that was once truly the Great Kung Lao. And even taking that into account, it's not on Sonic that almost no one else/no other scene emerged on this side of the world that could come close to going even with them. It literally took over a decade and all of South America to make them look mortal. THAT is on all of us.
