The online.
Why is it just the online for MK games? Sure there's scrubs and players with poor attitudes in other fighters online, but running into a poor sport seems to occur much more frequently in MK games. Is it just that more rotten apples play MK online than other fighters? I dunno, but I've had nearly identical experiences in every MK game I've played online.

woof.
I've noticed that there is far more "scrubs" online in MK games than any other fighter I've played. It's not just MK9, it's every MK game. Also, MK seems to bring out the worst in people, at least online. What is it about online MK?
you are probably just better at the MK games than other. in my experience, online fighting games across the board have been vile hives of scrubs and lag abuse. MK isn't even the worst. look at, say, tekken. imagine if, say mileena's laggy ass u4/b4 "mixup" did 60% damage on either option...that is tekken online. that said, MK hasn't exactly been tourney viable for the past decade, so there has probably been way fewer competitive players who know and understand lag and don't abuse it.

also online just sucks.

MK has more casual player appeal than any other fighter I think. (Oooooooh Fatalities!!! YAY) People who buy the game just for the gore and to do fatalities to people online. When you beat them your ruining there chance at doing a fatality, the whole reason they are playing to begin with.

^^I say that half joking, but Im sure there are alot of super casual players like that in MK.

Another reason Il bet is because MK is known for having really powerful moves. Moves that are really good offline become overpoweringly broken online. Im sure moves like Raidens teleport, Reptiles dash, Smokes teleport, and Kung Lao's spin(to name a few) are practially unbeatable online. That would certainly make me salty lol.

And Im sure the online mode itself being a lag/delay filled mess doesnt help either.

Cause and effect. Stagnant pools of water breed mosquitoes, Online MK breeds salty scrubs.

After logging tons of time into the SF4 series and Marvel, I'd rank them as SF4>MK9>Marvel

Marvel is full of scrubs. Even the decent players will whine like scrubs. That game brings out the worst in everyone. It's the scrubbiest fighting game I've even played. It's fun, but it is hard to take wins and loses seriously. The hate mail in this game is ridiculous. I have never gotten any nice messages in this game, and I played nearly 2,000 matches. I only added one player (from SRK) the whole time I played...

I played many good players in SF4 who are also part of the offline community. You'll find nice and knowledgeable players at nearly all skill levels. If noobs lose, they either know why or ask for advice. There's still hate mail, but not as much. I got a ton of people on my friends list from both SF4 and SSF4.

MK9 is a mix of both. I generally look for players with good win/loss records, and have found many great players with good attitudes. I've been collecting a stable of players in my friends list to ensure good matches. There are a lot of casuals who whine, but they are easy to identify and avoid.

Actually, you have a point. For the limited time I played MvC3, nearly every match was someone sending me hate mail, though it was warranted. I tend to play "cheap" if the game allows it :). Also, the game makes you salty too. Being hit by a 30 second long combo for making a mistake in a fraction of a second is pretty debilitating. And then to finally get out of the combo only to get hit by it again... that makes me salty :(

It basically comes down to this
MK9 offline= one of the best games I ever played.
MK9 online=a laggy, delayed, scrub filled, broken piece of shit.
Don't take this game seriously online. Play online for fun and only for fun(If you can find a way to have fun that is). You're gonna give headache playing online for any other reason. Since there is no known scene where I live for casuals and tournaments so I can play the game the way it is meant to be played and get better I'm stuck playing this game... For fun.

I usually avoid "ranked match" and go into the chat rooms. I challenge people with lots of games and a good win/loss. Usually gets me some pretty good players. Accepting challenges from random people or doing "ranked match" definitely gets me players like in your flowchart though ;). It's the brainless scorpion parade. Teleport. Teleport. Teleport. Hell that's not even a flowchart. Although, usually they only get maybe 2 or 3 a round though, because they die from the block/punish ;).
It's an advanced mindgame.

Basically, what you do is teleport repeatedly, so that your opponent starts thinking, "well, this guy's probably going to get sick of teleports and do a different move soon." Or maybe he'll think "after getting punished for 40%, there's no way he's going to try another teleport."

AND THAT'S WHEN YOU GO FOR THE TELEPORT LOL

Sometimes it backfires, though.

MK11 Kabal = MK9 Kitana
The game is not any different online like previous MK games (aka broken and changed from offline) it is simply hella delayed. All moves have the same startup/recovery online as they do offline.

I've encounterd scrubs, haters and generally people with bad sportmanship in every game at some point it's not just MK honestly. I mean hell, Halo 2 I ran into hackers no joke like seriously? You have to cheat to win that's just sad lol.

There it is...
My issue is injustice really helps the people who wana mash.

Moves have absolutely no blockstun and hit recovery, like if you poke your +10 starts from like the frame you hit em.

Go into practice vs a hard bot and try and hitconfirm your pokes, so much harder than the older games.

Why does 99% of EVERYONE I fight online or even watch random videos of playing this game do this:

??Are they far away?

Yes - Do special moves
No - See below:

??Are they close?

Yes - UPPERCUT!!

??They are winning, how do I get in?

Jump at them!!!

??I am losing and they won't let me stand up?

Yes - Do you have :x?
**Yes - MASH :x !!!!!
**No - TRY TO UPPERCUT!!

Seriously, learn to play you damn scrubs!
you're watching the wrong videos. try watching top 8s of majors instead
