This was what messed up Kano. Had they left the knife alone - he would still be great. Taking that away destroyed him.His fireball speed was reduced a bunch. It ruined his zoning. He was very very good. They should have left him alone.

No it started out good then it was nerfed with the up ball patch

That is how I feel. I do think nerfing too soon can cause some issues. I agree on the discussion aspect though. :16BitThe problem is everyone flames everyone for trying to even have rational discussions about balance. It's the same in all games. You have the whiners, the "wait and see" people, the"we didn't have patches in my day" people, etc.
The top players need to be discussing everything and posting their thoughts on everything. What we actually get is people who won't talk about the game and fall back on the "it's too early" bullshit. Too early to what? Too early to have a rational discussion about what you think is really good and really bad in the current meta? Too early to discuss what might be done about those really good things or how to overcome those really bad things?
Everyone is just spewing this wait and see garbage instead of actually talking about what may or may not be a problem and what may or may not solve that problem. The pros and top guys keep saying they don't have opinions and all that. That's crap. They most certainly have opinions on who they think is really good/bad and why. Most people are not on that level and never will be. We need these people to be leading the way instead of sitting on the sideline.
For the record, balance/patches/buffs/nerfs do not affect me in any way. My skill isn't high enough for it to ever make a difference.
I don't think anyone would argue with you that Version 2 Kano was bestKano version 2 was best. Upball was useful, and his knives were the best tool anyone had vs iagb's.
Kano 3 was better than Vanilla Kano. Vanilla Kano was free, none of you could fight him yet.

OMG THIS... The sick shit pro level players were pulling off with Sent was SICK and ahead of its time!! And of course with YouTube it was emulated and copied by every Sent player causing MEGA rage.. That is where the problem lays.. Sents tech was ahead of its time... The rest of the game/cast was never given any time to catch up.. And BANG.. He is smashed with the nerf hammer... Later of course a large majority of the community has said that it was a knew jerk reaction and they wish that Sent had been left alone (and that coming from NON Sent players).When Sent was nerfed in MvC3, it for sure was a knee jerk reaction and I think people are equally fearful that is the case here as well. you dont think the superman nerf was unnecessary? 8 frames would be godlike but was it so broken? and the recovery on superman was also unnecessary imo.Here were all the "unnecessary nerfs":
Quan Chi
- Sky Drop Advantage nerfed (used to give a safe jump on hit)
- Rune Trap advantage nerfed (almost gave a safe jump on hit)
Jade
- u+3 no longer hit mid (extremely huge nerf)
- General damage nerf on combos
Ermac
- TKP given more recovery
- General damage nerf on combos
Sub-Zero
- Huge damage nerf given in general
- Received a huge indirect nerf to due losing effectiveness in ice clone (due to general cast gaining armor)
Sindel
- General damage nerf on combos
- Cancellability off 4 removed (huge nerf cause cancel adv should have been slightly lessened, not removed entirely)
Reptile
- General damage nerf on combos
Nightwolf
- Received a huge indirect nerf due to losing his enhanced lightning traps on knockdown (due to general wake-up game buff that was unnecessary)
Kano
- Knives made slower
- Up ball nerfed again when he needed those original buff properties
Raiden
- Vicinity Blast advantage removed
- 3,3,4 block advantage removed
Here are the unnecessary buffs:
Sonya
- Given more armor on enhanced Cartwheel
Cyrax
- Buzzsaw made way safer on block (making it overhead was more than enough a good buff)
ALL THE OTHER NERFS AND BUFFS I DIDN'T LIST I THOUGHT WERE NECESSARY.
Also characters that didn't get nerfed that went under the radar:
- Kabal
- Kenshi
- Sonya
- Cyrax
And characters that didn't get buffed because of things like "price of dive kicks" or "they have potential just wait":
- Cyber Sub-Zero
- Sindel
- Quan Chi

I honestly didn't care about his upball nerf. His knives are what upset me. Choke can do everything upball can, better. Its a shame that nobody besides beenee and i realized that.I don't think anyone would argue with you that Version 2 Kano was best
