Gunslinger since pre patch (sh/out to The Farmer)
She uses her garrotte, which she seems to use a lot more in her MKX moveset.Funny, I don't even think I've ever seen her second one from MK9.

Really? There's a half dragon half human its basically a huge dude with four arms, a human that can somehow create a fireball out of thin air to send flying at his opponent (who doesn't even catch fire if it hits), another guy with a lethal laser weapon implanted instead of an eye, a god of thunder that watches over earth, humans that can turn to smoke or freeze things or a girl from another realm that has an endless supply of razor fans to throw, all that and more; but what breaks it for you is a girl with big boobs with her thong showing AND is able to kick ass?NRS said that they were going for a more realistic approach to their women, and Sonya epitomizes that. The days of her breast overly large and her thong straps hanging out are over. Don't get me wrong, it was sexy to look at, but not very believable. I like this Sonya. She's strong and looks battle ready. And she's still beautiful, but this time it looks like she's ready to whoop ass, not show ass.
Ideally Sonya will collapse Cage's skull. And unless one of them ends up dead, it'll be that kind of story that repeats itself IMO
The entire point of "badass normal" character in such a setting is to be presented as plausible, but still capable of kicking arses. Since Sonya is given down-to-earth background, can as well stick to it.Really? Please.
Nothing about MK is plausible, and its even more implausible that a "normal" person would survive 10 seconds against supernatural opponents. In MK9 Sonya's specials are not plausible nor are her fatalities, and I doubt they will be in MKX either. But for some reason just appearances should be believable? It just seems really silly to even talk about believability in video games. The entire point of "badass normal" character in such a setting is to be presented as plausible, but still capable of kicking arses. All i know is that this vision has become real, and it makes more sense that characters that survived MK9 and stopped the netherrealm war to be playable, so hurray for Sonya and her daughter cage. "Sakonnnn that!" as Cassie would say.
I'm pleased, now i get to use this pic properly.
Yet degrees of WSD required vary.Nothing about MK is plausible.
Which they do, handwaved by something about being chosen as realm champions....and its even more implausible that a "normal" person would survive 10 seconds against supernatural opponents.
Yup. I also think that its animations is a bit overblown. I mean, was that jumping really necessary? Then again, Sonya is known for her disregard of gravity and inertia, plus if she has Ex-parry that launches, it makes it easier to create alternative animation for it - just make sure she lands faster.Anyone notice that Sonya has a parry?
Oh my god, I would be beyond hype if her upwards bicycle kicks returned, I was so bummed they got rid of it in MK9 (but at least they referenced it in her x-ray).Hoping that leg grab recovery frames is a litte more reasonable this time around. And come on back bicycle kick!
I completely agree, I couldn't get myself to play the MK9 females even if I tried while I want to play all of them just as much as everybody else this time around. The overly sexual presentation of females in mk has always kept me from playing any of them at length. I'm really pleased to say it won't be an issue this time around. I already want to play D'vora and Cassie.
Sorry, I don't know that acronym.Yet degrees of WSD required vary.
Ya, I don't buy that. She is supposed to be real world military yet she can lift someone up between her thighs and rip them in half by moving her legs in opposite directions (cleanly across the abdomen no less, quite the feat of physics there alone), but she can't fight in 4" heels? Why not? She's Earth-realm's chosen warrior, can survive all the nonsense I mentioned before, but her heels and outfit would not be possible to fight in?Which they do, handwaved by something about being chosen as realm champions.
Look, I'm afraid I wasn't clear enough. When you are presented with almost-modern-world setting and you see a husk infused with 1000 souls, it doesn't matter how it is designed, nobody can say "that's not how they look/behave". When you state than someone is real-world military, you can't proceed with designing whatever you want because this time design can be challenged. In that sense completely impossible supernatural character is more "plausible" than a soldier wearing 10 cm heels. Probably "non-contradictory" is a better word, but anyway.
Willing suspension of disbelief.Sorry, I don't know that acronym.
It's not about what's possible and what's not in the setting. As I've said, if character is said to be something that doesn't exist IRL, you can only take that for granted, there's no contradiction with anything, you can buy it. If character is said to be something existing IRL that you know what it is, and this character clearly isn't that as far as you can see - that's where character starts to break. But ofc it's not terminal and there's no black and while. Fantasy settings thrive on escape from reality, I'm just saying why I like new design more.Ya, I don't buy that. She is supposed to be real world military yet she can lift someone up between her thighs and rip them in half by moving her legs in opposite directions (cleanly across the abdomen no less, quite the feat of physics there alone), but she can't fight in 4" heels? That very pregnant pic of her is on my fridge, next to my kids report cardsReminder for people who said "I'm glad Sonya doesn't look like a pornstar any more" - she was PLAYED by someone who did nude modeling in MK2 and MK3. Kerri Hoskins, my friends.
Also, she rocked a pair of very fake Ds, and once posted a picture of herself VERY pregnant with twins on a messageboard I used to go to. @trufenix may remember this too.
My life is weird.
Bionic legs, cause she got promoted to Major, like Jax.Look at her leg, she has three round objects attached to her leg. It's only there when she's fighting Quan Chi. When she's fighting Scorpion, she uses her garrotte but doesn't have those three objects attached to her leg. I'm pretty sure this is a physical attribution for one of her variations. So, I'd say the garrotte is one variation, and another one will give her these three objects.
Now, what do you guys think these are? I was thinking bombs, because they are round and kinda look like them, but they don't really look like normal grenades. Maybe they are a special type of explosive or something? Any thoughts?
