Living Corpse
Champion
Shh, you might be giving NRS ideas and not the good kind either.I would rather see an entire roster of Hannah Montanas and Selena Gomezes and the rest of the Disney fluffers before a Cyber Smoke.

This kind of irrational distaste for the character only makes me want him for DLC more.I would rather see an entire roster of Hannah Montanas and Selena Gomezes and the rest of the Disney fluffers before a Cyber Smoke.
No, I haven't played through story mode, I just have Cyber Subs in my avatar because he isn't my main.I'm guessing some of you guys never played through story mode? Smoke didn't get turned into a robot this time around, so it wouldn't make any sense to get robo-Smoke as DLC, at least in THIS game.
With that said, I'd still be fine with robo-Smoke as DLC.
I really hate when people say this. Why the hell would you want a SLIGHTLY ALTERED character if you can have a completely new one? Like, really?Robo SMoke with varied version of humans specials
What part of "he doesn't have to be canon with the story" did you not get from my post?I'm guessing some of you guys never played through story mode? Smoke didn't get turned into a robot this time around, so it wouldn't make any sense to get robo-Smoke as DLC, at least in THIS game.

I wouldn't say Rain is a "what if" fighter. Skarlet we see several times in cutscenes but never fighter her and we hear Shao Khan mention Kenshi in a matchup even though we never see it and this game does tak place during the first 3 MK's and Rain was in UMK3. So Rain was probably still there amongst Khan termination squads we just never see him/encounter him. Just because there endings are not canon doesn't mean they were'nt there doing something offscreen during story mode, behind the scenes. Why does no one understand that Rain and Freddy fucking Kreuger are in this game? Those are both what-if characters with no relevance to the actual plot, so why can't Cyber Smoke be one?
Yup! And it comes from sprite comics from the kombat pavilion. Ah the good old days...That video where Robo-Smoke steals one of the kombatant's wallet. Wasn't it on Newgrounds or something?
Fixed, though I'd also agree with:Also:
Cyber Smoke > Bo Rai cho > Fujin > Tanya > the rest.
Bo Rai cho > the rest.
You don't play umk3 a lot, do you?Well isn't this one big lovely circle jerk.
I seriously don't understand all the love for RoboSmoke. Just because he was the most overpowered in umk3 everyone suddenly starts liking him and has all of a sudden, been their all time favourite.
He has always been a very 2d and hardly unique character till mk9 where his human form was given a proper story. Robot smoke is like Motaro. No longer relevant.
Chill dude, my post wasn't even directed at you. What part of "he doesn't have to be canon with the story" did you not get from my post?
The point is that Rain is nowhere to be found in story mode, period. His "story" is confined to his bio, his ending and his character vignette online. It'd be the same case for Cyber Smoke, and so there's no need to justify his inclusion. Like I said, if they can justify adding Kratos and Freddy fucking Krueger, they can justify adding Cyber Smoke. What part of "he doesn't have to be canon with the story" did you not get from my post?

I hope that made sense.
But yeah Freddy is really the only "what if" fighter we have so far in my opinion. Though that could change if we get Cyber Smoke.
This is so unbelievably fucking ignorant it's surreal. First off, Smoke wasn't even anywhere near as good as Kabal or Stryker in UMK3, so anyone who liked him purely in the interest of tierwhoring would've been better off with one of those. Second, most of us were fucking tweens when UMK3 came out; do you really think we cared about tiers back then? Smoke didn't "all of a sudden" become an all-time favorite; he's always been popular, and it's pretty fucking arbitrary to assume otherwise just because he doesn't appeal to you. Some of us just so happen to like him because we thought he was a cool character when we played MK3. Some of us might happen to like him because oh, I don't know, we like how the cyborgs were redesigned for MK9? Both in terms of how they look and how they play, I love all three of the cyborgs in MK9. I liked cyborg Smoke when I was younger, and I can remember maining Smoke and Sektor in MK3 (at the ripe old age of seven). It only makes sense that I'd want to see him in MK9, both because I'd like to see how they'd redesign him and because I'd like to see how his playstyle would carry over. I was really impressed with how Cyrax was redesigned to better differentiate him from Sektor, and I love what they did for Cyber Sub's design. I'd like to see how Cyber Smoke would look, and I'd love to see how he'd play.Well isn't this one big lovely circle jerk.

You were saying?
Well, he only made one other appearance in the later games, in Deception (and by extension, Armageddon). I agree that his primary costume in those games looked awful, but his alt looked great, and it was actually much closer to his MK3 appearance.Truthfully i hate Cyber Smoke's look in the later games, I kinda hope they overhaul his look and give him a new cyber design.
