Hawkgirl, absolutely no debate to it unless other characters get new shit. She is THE worst matchup he has.

Lol. Stating mu as a fact when the game just came out.. Although it could be let the game breath a little.. To me right now it seems like black Adam since every single key overhead slam mixup doesn't work on him and dive kick

No, it's Hawkgirl. I'm not stating tiers, I'm not overstepping bounds. I grind hard with Nightwing daily and I've discussed this with other Hawkgirl mains, have played the matchup, and have grinded with Hawkgirl to learn it more. A Hawkgirl who plays the matchup correctly will rarely ever lose. Her tools are nearly complete counters for Nightwing's. This isn't opinion, that's fact.

While Black Adam is tough, Nightwing's tools at least play a role against him. He has to respect Wing Dings when jumping, Hawkgirl does not. He has to respect Nightwing's jumps, Hawkgirl does not. Black Adam can't play his zoning game against Nightwing without getting punished. Hawkgirl can. If Black Adam is indeed a bad MU for Nightwing, it's nowhere near as bad as the Hawkgirl MU.

Green Lantern destroys me. I can barely get close to the guy because he is running away and shooting that air missile. Any advice?

Play patient. Since Staff isn't as prevalent in this match, at least at full screen, stay in Escrima for the movement until you get in. Work your walk speed and positioning. Just grind your way in, it won't be long. GL's won't stay zoning all match because it's not very efficient for them.

Know your spacing. Know the full effective hitbox of his lift and avoid getting into it without being ready. Once you do, be cautious. But a blocked Lift is a free punish even in Escrima (b2 should punish at all ranges, test it to be sure). You could hang at that range, looking for a mistake to capitalize. You could get into his b1 range. If you feel he'll abuse it, duck your way in, wait for the b1 and backdash immediately when you block it. If all goes well, he whiffs his followup, free punish.

It's best to avoid being directly in on him unless you're completely on the offense. You don't want to be in the grillhouse where he can mixup b1 and f3 all day. And you don't want to give him lifeleads that force more reckless behavior. This matchup is about caution.

Thanks. I have been trying to backdash after b1 but I miss it all the time online. I definitely need to be less reckless against him too.

Well, if you want to get risky...you could try MB B3/F3 in the middle of the string. See if that's easier than backdashing.

What really works well against green lantern is your bf3 in staff it punishes his db1 and helps you stay in his face

Honestly, I can't really say I've gone against a great GL player, but I usually just dash under the air fireballs and punish blocked lifts. The GL's I play against just end up killing themselves after a while..

ground pound is just gonna take a LOT of practice seeing it and blocking properly. i suggest staff for this match up simply to help keep him out and so you can do db3 as a wakeup option if he wants to get too cute with df2 . he is not an easy character to deal with.

And if Grundy reads a ground spark or air wingdings, you're going to get MB swamp hands'd for 44-51%.
Do Grundy players know this? Because I was playing a decent one tonight, and Wingding/EX Wingding was working very effectively.

...then he switched to Black Adam and stomped me. Heh. =P

They probably don't know. Don't want to burn a meter on a punish you aren't sure will or won't work. And it's still a gambit since you can MB Wing Dings a bit late either getting them bopped or just messing up the punish window.

Was just curious if anyone had any tips on getting in on a zoning Superman outside of block and dashing. If i read him doing the non sweeping eye lasers i can dash in between and close distance and the sweeping laser isn't that annoying UNTIL he has meter and I have to worry about the overhead mb followup laser. Sucks that i have to make 30 reads (exaggerating obviously) and if i get tagged by that laser i get pushed back to square one. Also doesn't help that its an overhead so I have to stand up to block if i think its coming which moves me back a bit. Im assuming this is by design b/c if i do get it its hell on earth for him lol. But if anyone had anything else besides blocking and dashing forward just wanted to know

because if there was a way to avoid losing so much health trying to get in on supes with meter i thought i'd ask... example: i also play catwomen and she can use her dodge to avoid banes running charge... her dodge is supposed to only dodge highs and projectiles yet that charge is a mid.... i'm assuming that charge is classified as a projectile or something or its just a random thing that works who knows... figured it would be worth asking

Well...he doesn't, nor does he need to. I'd much rather Supes burn meter just making sure Nightwing doesn't approach.

If you prefer having outright ways around zoning...Nightwing isn't the character to use for that.

Thanks I think (hard to tell when ppl are being condescending on here) I figured the match is supposed to work this way b/c his upclose game is so good... but this game has interesting mu quirks to it which is what i was really getting at.... not so much asking for an outright way around it... more or less i'm just trying to confirm i'm playing the mu properly in terms of gettting in thanks tho
