Yeah you can't jump out if it. It's a frame trap and Shang has options when the gs is blocked not to mention safe armor to always fall back on it.
I demand to see a real Shang chart lol.

You gotta respec the lightning in the zoning game. Unless you get a SS to be blocked. Max range SS on block can be backdashed and another SS attempt should be able to be stopped with lightning too.
Rain will drain your meter near enough everytime (no reason not to)
Longer reach, higher damage better armour.

ST can d3 out of the RH, but thats not enough to give him safety.

Theres nothing anybody can say that will make me believe Rain loses to Shang, I play both at a high level, so its not like I'm unaware of anything either can do to the other.

What's a Smarrgasm?
I have to agree with wound. Any character with any relevant zoning is tough for rain for the most part. Its not like shang doesnt also have a pretty good up close game as well. Both characters pressure can be armored through but shang has better pokes. I think shangs zoning though gives him the overall upper hand. Still not a very bad MU in my opinion but shang in my eyes seems to have an advantage.

Your Rain is nothing like mine though, we play nothing alike, you see Shangs zoning as a strength, I see it as an opportunity to bait a mistake, the only kind of projectile that will stop Rain from lightning is a straight one.

Rain isnt weak to any character with any relevant zoning (other than Kenshi Kitana Freddy & Sindel).

Also not to be harsh or dickish, but my Rain is a better representitive for the character overall, I've learned to deal with his hardships alot quicker, as well as refining his playstyle.

Yet you only showcase him through online and a last ditch effort at EVO to fight krayzie. I play him in every single tournament i enter. I never claimed that my rain is the best representative of the character. I just claim to be the best tournament rain cause I honestly think i am even if theres only like 3 of us. I guess ill just never talk about rains MU's again since i apparently dont get him.

And no matter how many times you say it you will always come off as dickish. I agree your rain may be better but thats cause you are better. The style i play utilizes a lot of stuff that you wont even touch and thats how i choose to use him. Im just not amazing enough at the game to take it to an even higher level. I dont have the inborn skill of the top level players and i never claim to be as good as people. When people say im good its their choice to.

You do know that you can't Jump out of Gs pressure right? and if you try and jump back at neutral i could Ex SS you before you hit the ground (at least), or throw out a Up/Ground skull for a trap

Please explain

He can also get out of pressure with his 9f mid and has armor. Safe armor too. With Shang you just have to be a really good player to use him at high levels. Hust his hitbox hurts him

His armor isn't safe, its - on hit so it can't be used as a pressure escape unless it will kill

His Mid is 10 frames

Blocked D3 = reverse in pressure with no safe way to get out. on hit all it grants is one more rep of F4-GS

Thats what I was talking about, if you wanna do Ex SS or a mid GS be my guest, thats Shangs risk.
