Ill laugh when NRS hardly touches him :)

i swear this is almost like week 1 full auto jacqui again, except at a much higher level of play that requires a bit more thought than simply ducking a ranged projectile to defeat the character.

PS, even if they DO nerf him as hard as you think they will, i'll be more than happy to waltz on over to HQT predator and play him in protest.

Let's be real, this isn't gonna get nerfed. Last patch they looked at Quan Chi, and figured the best way to adjust a top tier character would be to give him a 6f d1. I can't honestly say that NRS sucks at balancing, but their decisions are just arbitrary it seems.

Not to mention that the last big patch was the last one for the foreseeable future. IF he is to be nerfed (not gonna happen), it'll be around the time we start getting KP2.

I agree, and for good reason. What the Quan community can't stand is ridiculous nerf requests that would completely kill the character and being called downplayers 24/7. While most of us did downplay pre-patch, in jest, post-patch that simply isn't true anymore.

Removing the ability to do over 50%+ unblockable combos from mid-screen would "kill the character"? What are you smoking?

What are you smoking? I said I agree with you? Literally right there in the first sentence.

I'm not saying that's a ridiculous nerf request. I'm saying some of the shit posted in the Quan forums are ridiculous.

Edit: After a re-read I see you wrote it isn't gonna get nerfed, not that it is. I have no idea why you'd think that but the auto-block removal on skull needs to go.

That makes more sense. Still, I can't blame people for saying what they say when they look at the patch notes and see that instead of getting toned down, he's getting MORE good stuff.

You have to look at it from the perspective of somebody whose characters are complete arse in this game. My Kenjutsu flair gave it away for one, but I actually main Goro.

Imagine reading the patch notes as somebody who plays Goro and/or Kenshi. Can you feel the sadness? ARE YOU CRYING YET? D:

I can see what you mean. I'd be much happier if they just left Quan exactly how he was pre-patch tbh, now he'll probably get nerfed to worse than what he was pre-patch. But meh, I've got a few secondaries anyway, I'd just hate to see Quan in MK9 Quan tier again.

I have many feels for the Kenshi community, going from the top in MK9 to pretty much the bottom, can't be a good feeling. :DOGE

Kano has his own tier as well! 15-25ish seems to be his range on the tier scale. Was garbage in MK9, now he's a bit better! I know how you feel about not wanting to see your character drift into shite status.

It certainly looks powerful in a controlled environment.

That said, it does cost three bars, so I question the practicality in real matches.

Good find, though.
If a Quan ever gets three full bars without using them for a breaker or EX Ground Blast to make a move safe you probably won the game against him already or you got hit on every single unsafe mix-up and you deserve this. D3, D1, B3, 4, and that's all I can think of. That's all that's actually safe on block without canceling into DB1 EX. So yes very much controlled environment in my opinion.

Edit: Read the rest of the posts. If a Quan at a major ever tried this 3 meter thing for just one round and still won it. It would be hype as hell and you all know it.

But, if this is a nerf Quan thread the problem is actually his standing 4 it's too fast and getting it after pop-up increases your damage by a nice chunk. It also has to be used to get the higher damaging combos. Like if you took out 2 meter combos and took his standing 4 out of his combos he'd do about 40% damage in corner and 35% midscreen the other variations would be garbage tier though in my opinion. Then again canceling off of 14 is pretty OP in these combos too.

Quan's meter building, especially during his zoning, is very good so this is very viable in my opinion. Quan can make all of his mixups safe if he has Puggles out too, which he mostly always will if you play him properly, so I dunno about these unsafe mixups you're talking about.

Regardless, he has 40+% unbreakable, off a 50/50, for one bar anyway so these are only ever really needed for swag or for a little extra damage if you're closing out the round.

Can you start these with anti-air d2?
You could definitely do similar combos to this, they'll probably be slightly different but it'll be the same principle.

Good finds, for real. These kombos are super swag and flashy.

I would have to say though that's why Summoner is the best variation the bat makes him very safe. What I mean is literally none of his moves are safe without a canceled Ground Blast into a D1/D3 or EX Ground Blast on block at least. I only play Quan so maybe this is how it's supposed to be? But, I am positive that Raiden, Lui Kang, and Jax have moves and strings that are plus on block after taking Quan's "broken" 6 frame poke D1/D3 out of consideration. Meaning you sometimes only have time to react with a move to 1 or 3 frames after the poke you fling out. Which granted may not be that hard to do. If you do try and poke out and they catch you on block they have time to convert into a full combo themselves for 30-40%. Then Quan will need to use the breaker or eat the health and hope he can guess the 33/33/33 (Because of throws) on wake up and lose health to full combos on conversion when he misses the guessing game.

Then again keeping this post unbiased (or at least trying to). It's always a viable strategy to sorta just build meter in the second round and bait theirs or throw second round for full bar of meter for the third round to do this unbreakable shenanigans. Also getting first hit with Quan is game closing with these combos in the first round. So this may be viable. Who knows. This character has the highest risk and the most ridiculous reward. Too ridiculous? Only time will tell. A lot to be found still I bet. I mean I got 90% on sorcerer online recently for the first time. Did the same thing found in these forums to me. I had a match stolen from me straight up. Ripped from my stats. I had my armour in the corner and I just missed the NJP and he ran under me and came back in for the game ending combo. This prompted my switch over to summoner.

Ya, I didn't realize I played with people online that read this forum... It makes sense but, damn it felt bad. I just wanted one online touch of death brutality before people figured out Quan Sorcerer. Almost salt quit after the tea bag and fatality.

H2B is more like impossible to blockable. Much hype if you can do it though.

What I mean is, in the neutral he can get the opponent to take unnecessary risks during his zoning then whiff punish with a B2, which he can make safe with meter or Puggles. After that much is over there's literally no reason for Quan to ever be unsafe, he can make all of his good options safe with or without meter apart from the B2 hard to block able which he needs meter to make safe. He can even cover the gap in B32 rune or just use raw B32 then use a sorta OS with Puggles, where on hit he can combo and on block he's very slightly minus.

I agree with this definately don't get me wrong. Bat makes him too safe once he's able to consistently get it out. Which you're right BD3 should be mashed anytime Chewie isn't out in a safe way of course. That's why I finally switched variations. It'll be interesting to see what NRS will do. Quan's a very delicate little guy behind that facade of OP. I would rather not see a damage nerf though. He has a good pace for this game against more defensive characters at least at competitive play. I have a feeling a lazy nerf to how long the bat stays out will be the answer to everyone's woes.

Wish I had an Xbone to add you. Also to get bodied online for ESL.
