There's a major tournament almost every week now. Maybe it would have been a better idea to wait another week until after CEO due to the fact that it's an NRS sponsored event and the pot bonus is huge, but ultimately giving people as much time as they could get with it before EVO and ESL finals were probably their biggest concerns.

I'll take a patch 2 weeks before evo as long it's not severe. I'm actually hoping for some minor changes when predator comes out

My character got buffed but yea imma respond anyway...no character got like 10 hard nerfs or anything so how much is it really going to hurt?

I feel there is a reason they don't give a heads up...ppl are never happy anyway and quite frankly don't want to hear the bitching. Observe the forums, and then stealth test/ make changes seems to be the agenda.

It was a horrible idea & defending the timing it came out is foolish. Theirs nothing for a few weeks after EVO that would have been the perfect time.

There's never a good time for a patch honestly. Maybe they could have released it a week earlier? But who knows if it would have been finished. Ultimately people need to realize that this is a business, so as great as it would be if NRS could wait to patch and change things in perfect sync with the competitive scene, they still have their own deadlines and parties that they need to uphold and please.

It's not only that they patch before ceo. It's that they do it with no warning whatsoever.

I've always disliked their method of machine gun patching over the course of 6 months. People end up having to relearn everything and it stops the game from evolving. Not to mention they could possibly be making the game worse with some decisions.

If they're going to patch they shoukd at least let the players know so that they at least know what to expect. Instead everyone puts a bunch of time into something just to have it changed without any notice at all.

Yeah, that was the wild part about it.
A fair warning would have been good, so some player know they were going to get fucked(Scorpion, D'Vorah, Johnny Cage*).

Honestly, dropping it a week earlier would have been better so they could adjust to the new changes, and for Scorpion players coming up with new BnBs. Same with Kitana players. Yeah she's nice now, but them having their hands on her last week, they would be more in-tune with her new Boss Bitch Self.

But thy're all good players and they will adapt.

Who knows why they did it this week. Maybe they were working everything out, and this week was the best for them.

They've released compatibility patches two weeks before the dlc drops since the beginning. The only difference is, this time, PS4 didn't get it a week early. Timing sucks, but it's the schedule. Not like they did it just to fuck with us. Boon's a troll, but not on that level.

Actually some of the nerfs were pretty significant. I'm not going to say the characters are bad at all but players definitely need to readjust to the changes. People aren't going to know the ins and outs immediately.

Also I don't think they release sneak patches because they don't want to hear bitching. This site does nothing but bitch regardless. They'll be bitching before and after the patches. I think they just like the system they have.

The only players I really feel bad for with this weekend coming are dvorah players. They will get the 1 frame links down eventually but learning that kind of stuff (especially when it is actually relearning with the possibility of slightly different timings) takes time that they just don't have. It also kind of sucks for hell fire scorpion players and fisticuffs cage players since their core game plan has to be readjusted. Besides that I'm not too concerned about it. I feel like NRS can't really control the timing anyway so maybe we actually got lucky.

All I can say is this patch did a ton of damage reputation wise in the wider FGC & unlike the usual I can't defend it.

The part that i find bullshit is there is ZERO warning about the patch and what it entails. At least drop some sort of a post giving players a heads up a little bit in advance what you plan to do.

They need to change the way patching is handled. Patch patching.

I did see someone with the Scorpion Klassic skin today though. But it didn't ask me to update.

A hitbox is the area around a move that will cause your opponent to get hit.

What they mean by fixing hitboxes is mid moves will now hit all ducking opponents, when they did not before.

They want their game to be showcased at its best. We should expect - and even want - no less.
