Right because having 6 games, 2 movies, and an animated series focused on Liu Kang was so much better.Because MK is all about Sonya and Johnny Cage now days. Something that's bugging me since mkx..

MK1,2,3,4...?Right because having 6 games, 2 movies, and an animated series focused on Liu Kang was so much better.
He was the driving plot behind DA just by being fucking dead, they pretty much emphasized how much everyone sucked because they all died embarrassing deaths against the deadly alliance without him.MK1,2,3,4...?
Putting all of those up against Johnny and Sonya bickering in MKX while Cassie glows like a NiteLite and beats Shinnok immediately (compared to the natural buildup of Liu beating Goro, Shang then Shao and finally Shinnok) yeah it was better.
Except that Liu Kang losing to those two wankers is a ridiculous idea lol, any MK since 4 had terrible plot holesHe was the driving plot behind DA just by being fucking dead, they pretty much emphasized how much everyone sucked because they all died embarrassing deaths against the deadly alliance without him.
I don’t agree with Cassie being the hero in MKX I feel like MKX should have been based around MK4 with JC being the hero and everyone getting restored in the end and then someone different being the hero in this game.
before the games had serious Goku syndrome to the point where everyone was complaining that they were tired of Liu and that he was a super boring protagonist but after MKX you would think it was revisionist history or something lol.
You only say that because you are an LK fan, MK has a great cast of characters and a lot of them have enough character to be the lead in several of these games.Except that Liu Kang losing to those two wankers is a ridiculous idea lol, any MK since 4 had terrible plot holes
Kung Lao was a supporting character in DA, not the lead one. That was Raiden. Also Raiden losing to those pussies in Earthrrealm was bullshit too or was it Outworld? You only say that because you are an LK fan, MK has a great cast of characters and a lot of them have enough character to be the lead in several of these games.
Him being dead was a breath of fresh air in both timelines, they just handled it bad as originally Kung Lao was the one they picked to go to the mk1 tournament but he turned it down, DA was his time to shine and they blew it and then completely shit the bed with deception and armageddon.
Not everyone sucked, Sub-Zero was preoccupied with Frost so he couldn't make it. Kenshi was doing something and Bo was busy saving Li Mei.He was the driving plot behind DA just by being fucking dead, they pretty much emphasized how much everyone sucked because they all died embarrassing deaths against the deadly alliance without him.
To me the worst was when she kicked Johnny in the balls the 2nd time, that was embarrassing."Fuck with the Blade and you get cut" made me cringe so hard I thought I was going to have a stroke.
better made but not good on the "cannon" and "screenplay" level. Maybe even the action and animations too...As I previously asked, how does it compare to The Journey Begins and Defenders of the Realm? Is it any better or worse, or at the same rubbish level?
These seem like nice guys. I hope they dont get bombarded with assholes goin "WHen KOMbat pack2? Where's muh-leena?! Fix this trash game Booooooooon"Here's the MK Scorpion's Revenge panel...
He had one line and died. They gave the demon torturer more than Sub Zero. The Bi Han SZ is always getting shit on lol
In a movie where the premise is that Scorpion is the hero, Sub-Zero, particularly Bi Han, should be the main antagonist. He had one line and died. They gave the demon torturer more than Sub Zero.
Instead he dies as another casualty..In a movie where the premise is that Scorpion is the hero, Sub-Zero, particularly Bi Han, should be the main antagonist.
Bro Kung Lao basically went through the “ultimate gohan” training with Bo rai cho to ready him for the deadly alliance, he was being trained to be the one to defeat them, it was his best friend they killed and he wanted vengeance, dude WAS built to be the main character of the game.Kung Lao was a supporting character in DA, not the lead one. That was Raiden. Also Raiden losing to those pussies in Earthrrealm was bullshit too or was it Outworld?
I know what you mean, but it was Raiden who assembled them, Kung Lao had the same role as Jax, Sonya, Kitana etcBro Kung Lao basically went through the “ultimate gohan” training with Bo rai cho to ready him for the deadly alliance, he was being trained to be the one to defeat them, it was his best friend they killed and he wanted vengeance, dude WAS built to be the main character of the game.
until Raiden stepped in and looked at all the earth realm fighters dead and was like “lol”
Exactly, there was no need for this to go into the whole tournament again and should've just been a creative new perspective on Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero, expanding upon it with more characters than just the few we got. A real story would've been much better in my opinion. It indeed borrows a lot from OG movie and that just seems odd, even if it's a form of respect. Thought you would've liked it better, but I'm definitely with you. I'm very afraid the reboot will be more of the same and if this is any indication, Nitara might just be present there as well or just a villain replacing one of many.Just watched it. Hmmm. I didn't dislike it, it was fine, but it felt a bit, I don't know, pointless?
We've had Mortal Kombat Conquest, The Journey Begins, four episodes of Legacy AND Mythologies all delve into the whole history of Scorpion Vs Sub Zero in both live-action and animated form already. All with varying degrees of success. This felt closest to Legacy, though can't deny I thought Legacy did it better.
It owes a LOT to the 1995 movie, several moments felt literally lifted directly from it, albeit with ultra violence. Guess that stands as a compliment to how well it captured several elements of the story and characterisation. There's also a hefty amount of MK9 in there for obvious reasons.
I enjoyed Sonya and Johnny a lot (god please sack Ronda Rousey, her monotone voice acting is killing me!) and so glad she never shouted "KOMBAT TIME!", although I don't see how Cage can be such a pizza-eating slob and still be in such good shape (but movies do that all the time, so I'll let it slide, especially in a cartoon). And makes me wish he had a skin like this in MK11 (like he did in MK9)... maybe some tie-in skins in the future?
Like others have said, it's retold the story YET again, albeit now with yet another different perspective. I would have assumed it was meant to adhere to modern canon... but as per MK9, I thought Ermac took Jax's arms? I guess there's no concrete canon at all at this point - I mean I don't really mind, MK's always been a bit loose with everything but figured they were aiming for something more concrete at this point - guess not? There was always meant to be character-endings, yet with one specific ending being canon. This feels like Scorpion's character ending in a game. I don't like how he's become the superhero of everything and especially didn't like how his mask looked like Skeletor from that New Adventures of He-Man cartoon (the animation actually felt quite similar).
I dunno, it was enjoyable enough, much better than The Journey Begins and Defenders of the Realm, not just in animation quality and obviously the gore, but I did find plenty of parts enjoyable. But irrespective of that, it did feel all a bit redundant - did this story really even need to be retold at this point?
I'd give it a 6 out of 10 I guess? It's fine, a new fan would probably get more out of it, but after 25 years of expanded Mortal Kombat multimedia productions delving into this story that I've been along for the ride with since the beginning, I don't see what they did new beyond finally having some gore in a Mortal Kombat media production?
It was nice, but also somewhat of a hella circle-jerk. so awkward and cringe to watch at times. Next time they should let fans ask them questions about making the movie...and not just talk about how great it was making it over and over..and throw compliments at one another... like we know, dudes!..we know...Here's the MK Scorpion's Revenge panel...
