I GOT HANDS

Official Infrared Scorp wid gapless Wi-Fi pressure
The downplaying from Kenshi players, most notably Immortal, in this thread is hilarious. Like, actually put a big ol smile on my face reading some of these posts.

Either they are ACTUALLY clueless, or they just can't see past Balanced, or the down playing is real. Like, the most blatant embarrassing credibility destroying downplaying other than the people saying Tanya doesn't need nerfs. Either way, it's actually funny as fuck to read.

You whined and whined and were given a top 10 character hands down, arguably top 5. Is Immortal really gonna kick up the whining AGAIN? Cmon son.

B14 string is not that good if you have good reactions, the low can be armored through or backdashed; since the Sonya player is probably going to do b14xxmilitary stance or b142, after the backdash you can punish her easily because the last hit of the string will always come out.
A smart Sonya will cancel the MS and still be able to block your armor option.

There is no gap in b14 when done at the right spacing.

Sonya is hella good.

Skylight1

Warrior
And other variations have that shitty Amulet strike which is useless besides damage in corner combos.
I don't really think so, it's a nice ender to F22 and you can mix it up after it. Unless I'm off, it's not that bad off of a blocked opponent.

Trust me, Goro is the worst character in the game by far. Yes his corner carry is good, yes his corner game is good. But against 50% of the cast he won't even get that started because he is too slow to get in and has no good anti air. Almost every single character in the game can jump in on him for free, a free jump in means free pressure or free mix ups or both. Not to mention Goro doesn't have any good jump attacks so he is probably getting anti aired 90% of the time he jumps at any character in the game. He has to play way too honest, in a game full of characters that can do whatever they want to Goro.

His last buffs didn't even help him at all. The last buffs Goro got only made his strengths better, they didn't buff his weaknesses. He doesn't need his strengths buffed, he needs his weaknesses buffed. Real buffs for Goro that would actually make him viable are:

1) Give Goro the run speed of a normal character

2) Make U1/U2 way faster and have more priority, 9 frame start up would be pretty godlike

3) The whole entire cast needs a D2 buff, which would help Goro significantly

With these 3 buffs, Goro might be mid tier lol. For now he is in a tier by himself at the bottom of the cast
We ll just agree to disagree then man.

One thing i definately do not agree is that he does not have good jump attacks. His j4 is awesome in terms of range and active frames AND its a combo starter if you use d4xxexpw after a successful hit. It has average start up frames as well. His j1 is excellent for anti cross up situations.

He is free against jump ins yes, but even after than opponent still has to respect his options. Just because you have to think a bit to win, it does not mean the character is bottom tier... Goro is viable in the right hands, he just does not have good reps yet. He has really good comeback potential, especially KW. KW can also check opponents jump ins done outside of sweep range with expw or chest lunge. Its at sweep range he hurts. Buffing his uppercut will solve this issue.

If i was to place him, then i would say he is mid to low tier. But bottom? Not by a long shot, even with his AA issues. His ground game is still extremely solid and he has ways to keep his opponent on the ground to get his game going, even if those ways are weak.

Regarding the buffs you suggested.

1) Agreed, although with the latest buffs he doesnt really need it cause he can easily close the distance between him and his opponent real easy now.

2) U1/U2 is fine the way it is. This move is designed to be used against cross up jump ins. It is not designed for jump ins in general.

3) Agreed.

If he gets those buffs and you still think Goro will be mid tier, then i am afraid we are playing a very different game king.

Get over here!
No couldn't make it. :(
Oh :-(

Yeah life definitely gets in the way of going to tournaments. Im married now and have a 3 month old so I have very little "fighting game time" anymore either.

Im just hoping to see someone at evo make noise with scorpion. Maybe MIT will use him at evo if they end up nerfing Tanya lol

Skylight1

Warrior
As far as Shinnok's vortex goes in Boneshaper, since the low is guaranteed and there is a gap for the overhead and everything else, it's only a matter of time until people realize they can apply option selects to either block/avoid or punish it 100% of the time. It's not even that tough to do.

Once the game is done being updated, option selects will determine the final tier placings. The surface has barely been scratched on this game's meta.
I still argue that Necromancer will be much better than Bone Shaper, especially now with the imminent fixes to his horrible tracking issues off of his fiend special moves. Impostor is still going to be go to variation for obvious reasons. Nice vortex, 50/50s, option selects after the mimicry, a guaranteed damage buff after that. Shinnok is really going to be the break out star of this game, for all the good reasons.

Skylight1

Warrior
Demolition = High meterless damage mid-screen.
Special Forces = Good pressure and good match pace.
CO= I don't see what is good with it
Wait I hate the character Sonya in this game but Demolition is the grenades, Covert Ops it that OP and overrated Garraote and Special Forces is the drone that can shoot those arrows right?

digit el brujo

shaolin monk
i dont understand. how is kung lao better thank shinnok?
all kung lao has that shinnok doesnt, in my opinion, is the damage. and thats only in 1 variation

Yea I just didn't have the $$$ this time around. Everything was good until I did my taxes and then Uncle Sam put an end to all that. Hoping to get to a major sometime soon. I think Scorp is still really good which is all the more reason I wanna get to one. I'm sure MIT still thinks he's good too but hey hashtag Tanaya so you can't blame him.

Yes, Goro has everything you described, but placement is not about tools but matchups. Like you said, his Achilles Heels is anti-airing, and a lot of characters bully him for that reason alone: Tanya, Raiden, Quan Chi, Subzero, Kung Lao, Kung Jin, Sonya, etc.
I agree with you, but that does not mean he does not have ways around that, even with his weak AA methods. KW for example can easily check his opponents with chest lunge if they try and jump outside from sweep range. Goro has AA issues AT sweep range. Thats why i believe if they buff his uppercut he will be super solid afterwards, since his ground game, wall carry and pressure are awesome and he will be able to keep his opponents on the ground for much much longer. KW has 26% unbreakable damage from every uppercut, with one bar, AA or not.

I wanna see you use him tournament with alot of top players. Because I play him at Yomi all the time vs MIT DJT Slayer Reo Mike etc. And it is literally impossible to win when they choose characters like Kung Lao Tanya Kung Jin Quan. Those are all 3-7 or worse for Goro they have to be. Even lower tier characters like Jason Kotal Kitana beat Goro.

Goro doesn't win a single matchup. You can list his 5-5's with explanations if you want, but honestly I think he just loses to the whole cast

Shame on you, fool. I think imposter shinnok is pretty good, i just think that you and most people are upplaying boneshaper. There are probably a few matchups where boneshaper is better but i would bet that imposter is better in most.
Bone Shaper has what Imposter lacks - an armored launcher and a way to build meter safely and effectively. The reset in Bone Shaper is not as strong as it is in Imposter, but f+4 cannot be backdashed after dark beam if executed properly, which opens opportunities for b+3 and throws. You also have a guaranteed string that is around -3 on block and builds 33% of a bar.

You can switch to Bone Shaper now or you can have your downplaying, stubbornness, and ego get in your way and switch in six months. It is up to you, fool.

I agree with you, that he loses against Quan, KL and Tanya for sure.

KK does not beat him for sure.

KJ is debatable, i still need to play more matches at my local scene, but i ve been doing well against him. You just need to be patient.

Jason is a winnable MU. @Hidan plays a fucking seriously scary Relentless and Slasher Jason. Both characters have equal chance of winning.

Kitana, tbh with you, i have no idea, but i get a feeling that she ll probably fan the hell out of him. I ll take your word for that MU, since i havent played any high lvl Kitana players.

I would like, if you can, to record some matches next time you use him at Yomi and send me the link, so i can see how they deal with him. I believe you are using KW yes?

Limiting myself to one variation is not the answer. I can use a combo of them and be fine.
