MKT N64 Tier List Discussion

I think this needs to be sticky to be discussed. Anywho here is how I think the tier should be.

1. Noob
2. Rain
3. Human Smoke
4. Kabal
5. Classic Sub Zero
6. Scorpion
7. Kung Lao
8. Baraka

I included Khameleon because she can be selectable on the screen. Thoughts.
Put Shang on top 5, he can turn into Noob Saibot and demolish everyone for a few seconds

You can't put shang up there just because he can turn into rain and noob. First of all you only get a short amount of time to be them so their infs are hard to do (any smart opponent will just block until you go back to shang). Shang also has alot changes from UMK3. Like the 3GE not being able to transform until after the third one is complete. But still shang would be the same place, or further back, as UMK3 and PSX MKT.

nice stuff with the list kaiba, BUT one of the biggest non-true stuff in mkt n64 tiers list is for reptile. i often read "his game is unchanged" - thats so untrue. mkt is 1/3 faster than umk3. aahpx2 juggle properties is completely different there. its so much harder to get reptile dashes there + some of his infs dont work.

i dont have much time since i'm at work right now, but yes reptile is played in mktn64 not like umk3 arc. noob saibot is diff than mkt psx/pc. scorp > csub. i will check some more stuff when i get back home.
I'm aware of the information. Like I said with my last update, its only a half-assed explaination of characters. Didn't go into much detail on some things. Thats all going to be fixed with this very long guide.

As far as the Scorpion> C Sub, Scorpion would need to have either a pop up or no DP on TPs to really edge out C Sub. There's games are really close. I give Sub the edge due to his pop up and crazy set-ups, especially with his Ice Shower's brokenness.

The Sheeva point- Granted she has that corner infinite, but how often are you going to get someone in the corner to do the inf?

I believe shang has the d+HK inf too. Someone else besides sheeva has it and I thought I remembered it being someone else low down there. Most characters can get at least 2 or 3 volleys of d+HK in the corner.

sheeva, shang, sonya and jax has those c. hk infs. again i'm not familiar with vs for this game, its just mine opinion. i will never play it vs another person for serious lol
 
Human Smoke is better than Kabal. Sheeva is better than alot of people. Scorpion is #6 right above c.Sub, Noob is obviously #1. Rain is #2.

1) GE is just about useless in both games
2) If they only block against Noob then all you have to do is decent block damage, and when you go back to Shang, just wait until you can turn back
3)All it takes is one disabler and you can do around 50% damage
4) He has a corner infinite.
5) even if he is not able to "Finish" the infinite, he can still get a great deal of damage just by trying it.

2. Even still if you get blocked, then can severely hurt Shang, he's vunerable in his "morphing" sequence. Even more so on 64.
3. What person is just going to sit there and let you get a disabler? Even then, your opponet could purposely wait for a disabler and let you throw out two by accident.
4. His corner d+hk inf is practically useless you get someone elevated enough. And his JK, aaHP, Fireballx3 inf only works on half of the chars. IF ANYTHING your more likely to get his GE inf in a match.
5. Most players who try to do the inf usually screw it up pretty early on, doing only 3 or 4, no more than ~35%. Then he's pushedbacked.

In this version, 64, Human Smoke IS better than Kabal. No time limit on the TPs, Broken inf is A LOT easier to get done unblockable, and his walk speed is still faster.

i will ask hanzo and rzp to make the tier list for this game, since they are the only guys i know who play this game at really high-level. i'm sure there will be a lot surprises (nightwolf ftw!)

Rain is god tier in MKT 64. Kabal is not. Human Smoke is above Kabal ONLY ON 64 bc of the reasons I've listed above. Sub/Scorp are beasts in this game. Ice shower is very broken and TP has no time limit in either direction. Lao can get two spins in any juggle, making the setup for wiff dive cross screen inf easier than PSX/PC/Saturn. Baraka is a monster with his spinning blade. Plus his Swipe does great chip away damage even if blocked. Kano and Nightwolf are very lethal in this game.

That'd be my top 10. And MK Trilogy is my main game. I don't go by that infinite bullish, cuz most of the infinites don't get pulled off in real play, I've played in about 3-4 high level tournaments plus my closest friend used to be a MK Trilogy head too.

That's quite sad that he just said that. Most people don't play MKT N64 competitively because it's so broken (infinites done constantly)

I do not think instant tp makes human smoke better than kabal and the infinite combo break is so much easier that people will try it and throw away matches just like in umk3 (sarcasm)........I have my 64 right next my 360
 
i remember this game... good game too. so similiar to umk3 and has the old ppl(raiden,johnny cage,kintaro,goro,motaro,shao kahn)on. the bottom of the tier person select screen reminds me of armageddons with all the "powerful" people down their but if you know how to play well, they aint so powerful
