He’s probably not top 5, but Raijin is decent. I think he might be the best of Raiden’s variations.

From my experience, Raijin struggles a bit more against oppressive zoning where he can’t check with BF1 or DB4. Otherwise, he does superior damage, has better space control and solves all of Raiden’s stagger and safety problems easily. Discharge also punishes lots of staggers so you get free damage on a lot of stuff you normally won’t. Raijin and TW complement each other. If you’re struggling against zoning then pick TW, if you need more safety and pressure pick Raijin.

Until Raiden gets played consistently in top 8 or wins it means JACK SHIT what professional players say. I dont care if its SonicFox,Tweedy or whoever. Show me you can win with Raiden then we can talk. At the beginning of the game Sonic said he really liked Raijin and wanted to play him and look how that turned out? Sonic Fox is one of if not the best MK11 player now. Maybe he can find something out that we've missed.We can at least look at how he plays Raijin and if it's any different than what we expect. I don't get why this suddenly becomes a rage fest against these Sonic dick riders when literally no one here thinks Raiden is top tier except him

Exactly, plus I mean Sonic played Raiden for 5 mins, says he's "S Tier" yet nobody has done anything with him at any tourney I think if anything we're at more liberty to speak for the character since most of us have been using him since day one. Someone else on here even pointed out his tech that he spoke of was found like months ago by one of us. But you know when you're a famous gamer, your word has more meaning I guess shrugs

In all fairness kombat did win a early tourney with him if I'm not mistaken and played him a little after.

I think what the issue is fox is a GOD so realistically you have to be fox lvl to struggle agaisnt foxy using GERAS

Its like having certain levels of designing a character,certain STANDARD. You cant tell me characters like Geras,Sonya,Jacqui are made by same people who make Raiden,Kotal,Kano. They have less GOOD tools and are lesser characters,because God forbid if you like something other than newcomer or special forces character being shoved down my throat. Jacqui SCREAMS "Play me,I am designed to be strongest" even tho I literally consider her dogshit,unappealing character overall. Also, nice fucking neutral this game has with Jacquis Upgraded variation XD <-

If you check the video thread there is a video of Kombat playing against Upgraded jacqui and winning most of the time using Raijin. He is constantly safe because of buffed DF2. Any full screen super jump can be shut down using DB2.

I agree, I play 4 characters in total so far in this game and my main 2 are Raiden and Jade. If you look at my KL stats(on Xbox and Switch) you'll see Raiden's pic there lol. You probably know how hard it is then to get Demi God using Raiden mostly lol. Not fun. Yeah I mean, the fact that NRS has patched this game now what 4 times or so? And every time they punk Raiden(unless he has a busted issue, they don't run to fix Jacqui's third variation lol) I agree, it makes it look like they want him to INTENTIONALLY be bad in this game. Oh I definitely agree, in comparison to Raiden those characters are broken, same for Scorp(at least pre nerf) he's still good though that being said. I rarely bump into Raiden, Kotal, Kollector players. Kano I see a lot more of honestly than the other 3 and Kano at least has some dirty bs unlike the other 3 lol. But yeah I mean Jacqui being in there as I said when they announced the roster is a wasted spot in terms of what fans want, nobody likes her or demanded her. They punked Takeda and Kung Jin and put her in. Cassie I get because of story reasons taking over for Sonya but Jacqui just feels like she's there to be THERE. No doubt a token casting. We don't even see Jax's wife at all in the story at any point in the games, even in the comics you see her like one panel if that much. So there's no development with Jacqui lol. Hopefully, her ending is canon and she just disappears. Upgraded is broken af I agree, such a dumbass variation. NRS be like "hey let's make Raiden shittier or not improved at all, oh and let's make Jacqui a character already good broken lol" I don't know, but the designers who made the characters in this game must have smoked some serious shit before doing so.

Raiden’s D2 kind of sucks. But DB2 is 14f iirc and it covers the entire screen at a diagonal angle. I’ve yet to actually anti air someone with it but it’s because I have bad reflexes, not because the move is bad. Eliminating Jacqui’s full screen aerial options are paramount in this MU I feel, and Raijin has just the tools the deal with that and her chip up close

B12 does NOT need to be plus. And 21 does launch already. I swear these buff suggestions get more and more outrageous by the minute.

His D2 loses to neutral jumps in the corner and so does his U2. Otherwise it’s ok but for super jumps you do DB2 and not D2

I’d be a bit careful giving him a plus on block overhead because Raijin has a 50/50 with B14 and B1~DB4 into full combo. Idk just make it safe and remove the FB gap so it works as intended
