Fun fact, its also breakaway vulnerable for a full combo punish on reaction between the two first hits of kitty cat. Anywhere on screen.The cat as it is has a thousand recovery frames, I highly recommend not using the ground panther to "escape"

The other one may be trash in light of the breaker but it is a relatively fast mid-charge type move with good damage and corner carry.What utlity do the panther moves have? They're terrible, sun is safely done out of pretty much nothing if your opp is on point. The totem is what at least makes up for his terrible damage in that variation. It prolongs the game into being about footsies instead of damage.

Perhaps you are right about the totems but I find his sunbeam to be quite useful against some character's attempts at zoning. Sun Disk trades well enough to get some respect. Not everyone has a Nomad Dash or teleport to check you with. And if you can get them in to low HP with amplified Sun Beam out, that is a super cheap situation.

Cat is a gimmick and sure it can serve the same purpose as KL DK but KL neutral game is like 10x better than Kotal, he actualy has a good advancing mid. The dive kick is just another tool to control space... which he does pretty well. With Kotal you control ass.
I really wonder how Kotal made throu NRS QA. Maybe they just gave him to some temp which had no idea about FG, that would explain a lot.

All anyone has to do is breath on Kotal towards the end of totem and he gets almost nothing if anything. Even block damage.
When I play against other Kotals they ain't getting life back. It's a fun variation but fraudulent IMO.
So I just started playing online recently, been having a blast offline, and bro. The first time that situation happened to me, i was confused. Then it happened again, then again, then i hurt myself in my confusion...Yeah, literally the entire point of it is bugged.
edit: nothing worse than landing a 220 dmg combo + an F4 with 3 totems up, waiting to cash in 300 dmg, then you block a long range blockstring and get shit.
