Jax General Discussion

I've been trying to come up with a secondary to cover Jax's weak points. How is it that sub zero beats all zones?
Dont want to speak for him - but generally with sub against zoners.... if you trade projectiles, yours will freeze and let you gap close and sometimes full combo. Then he has the 50/50s. Thats my thinking behind it at least

Yes this is my logic, I haven’t tried him online yet

Just cant stress this enough. His B2 KB is godlike. Ppl starting to to be afraid to wakeup. Even after u used KB u can still charge B2 for the anti-wakeup and combo from it (near the corner).

Jax B2 vs wakeups and rolls (beats backward roll near the corner too)

Anybody know the specific requirements for Jax’s “Awww Yeah!” Fatality? I know the kombo lead in, but is there a particular button you have to hold or anything to get it to trigger?

Can’t get the tick throw off d12 to save my life. I can get it off d1 bf1 about half the time mashing my dpad. Do I have to do d12 dbf1? I’m assuming the timing is very strict. I believe my release check is off and input window set to long if that makes any difference. Thank you.

Just labbed it.

Startup, active, and recovery are...

bf2 >> 26, 2, 32
Enhanced >> 7, 3, 36

I think you are definetly scrubbing people out with it lol
That's what I figured, but how is my d1 beating out anything but a poke from them? Maybe late reactions or something on their part?

Either way, Imma keep doing it until someone proves they can stop it. lol

Well, actually the variation to use would be thin ice, imo. Slide > projectiles and get that beefy 34%ish KB.

I, personally, use Jade. She's pretty anti zoner with her glow.
But I dabble in quite a few characters, idk who my true secondary is yet. Not even sure Jax is gonna be my main or not, but I've played the most games with him BY FAR so far in mk11.

Strange. D12 Tick is easiest of all to me compared to D1 or D3 into tick. But the trick is to input those inputs realy fast. I do it into two parts, D12 super short pause DBF1. You must input all buttons BEFORE D12 Animation ends.

ALSO keep in mind that for D12 into tick u must input DBF1 for cmd grab to come out. For D1/D3 u dont have to input down before BF1. For D12 into grab u have to do whole Dbf1 input.

I also have release check OFF and input window set to default (LONG).

Hope that helped out.

Wait sharp what do you mean you have to do the whole input? Sometimes what I’ll do is in the d12 I’ll input it as d1, d2. Meaning I’ll press down twice to store that down, and then I’ll go straight into back forward 1. Not sure how conventional it is or if this is what you meant all along but I find it easier

Jax in General does pretty bad Against good zoning. Bf2 does go understand high projectiles and the 2 from stance does also at some degree. Wave dashing and this makes it little easier. The projectile absorb is pretty ass.

Hold down during the last hit. The description says you can only do it if you haven't lost a round, but I can assure you that that's wrong.

Pls enlighten, wanna hear why u think that.
Jax in this game (like in previous games) is just okay midscreen, but he is super dangerous in the corner. The problem with Hunker Down is that his punish usually consists of f33 1+3/Db1/Bf2 and it results in a knockdown and minimal corner carry, and it forces Jax to make another read on the opponents wake up. Grinnin Barrets punish nets Jax 25-35% and 3/4 screen corner carry, which allows him to go into his corner game much easier.

Hunker Down gives him access to better pressure with the extended strings and the command grab, but it results in more knockdowns and needing to make more reads as a result. The command grab is good, but since it is a high I don't think it adds to much to his pressure game. All of his tick throws can be poked through.

Jax's pressure game in Barret is not bad enough to warrant picking Hunker Down. His pressure is, for the most part, the same, but his damage and corner carry is significantly higher. I like both the variations, but I pick Barret if I wanna win.

wait what do you mean poked through? if you block d1, d3, d12 youre getting command grabbed. If you tick properly they cant poke through and they cant escape it.

The timing is a little tricky, but as you can see here that is not the case. The people I play with almost never let me get away with it.

bruh noooooooooooo! Can someone else please confirm this as well, im in disbelief. Cuz lmao ima have to drop my boy thats a big issue to me. They took away the tick options and the ones we do have don't even work? Lmao. Thank you so much for showing me proof bro, I really had no idea. Clearly I can no longer be in this conversation since you know of things like this.

Personally I vastly prefer Hunker Down to Barrett. I ain't about that dash d12 dash d12 life.

I'll stick with my big combo being off the overhead KB as dash 1 dash 12 command grab is so much easier
