I haven't sit through a fatality in about 2 weeks. I watched them all when I first got the game, and honestly, I found it all a bit disturbing. These fatalities aren't "campy" and unrealistic like the old ones.
I don't care. I don't want to watch someone get ripped in half AGAIN. I don't do them, and I don't want to see them.

I play MK with my best friend online and I will stop the matches and go do something else when he does fatalities.
I also come from the Street Fighter side of things before this, so I'm not an MK Fanboy; and, to a certain extent, I'm on board the "Senseless Violence" train. I'm here for the gameplay. Not the gore, especially since MK has switched to the more realistic gore. There is nothing campy about Stryker's fatality in which he shoots the other guy in the face. That shit is disturbing. I work in the medical field. I have literally held someone's face together that had been shot. I see enough of that mess at work.
Do Babalities all you want/can, but I have no desire to watch someone be eviscerated, exsanguinated, or disemboweled. I'm not a sadist.

I also don't understand the argument of "You're supposed to get to do fatalities if you win. That's why they're in the game" ... when, last time I checked, the "Quit" button was in the game, too ... so you're not supposed to be able to use it?

What really fucking gets me is when dudes do fatalities in TYM rooms. I'm not gonna call anybody out or expose anybody, but seriously... Like most people have been saying: Most of us have like 500+ games played, and how many times have you seen these fatalities? I don't rage quit but I'll bitch the entire time while fatality is going, because it's just annoying. I expect that shit outta rank matches or random players in other player match lobbies, not from well respected and competitive players like ourselves. I don't understand why dude's can't just end the match with a jab or sweep or whatever so we can get into the next game quickly as possible.

I hate watching Fatalities, but if you lose, especially a Ranked Match, take it like a man and let them celebrate how they earned the right to.

Are you serious? Ever heard of being a good sport?

learn and spread this kode:

227-227
(kunai,kunai,goro-kunai,kunai,goro)

it's very similar to zombie mode (666-666) but it won't alter character appearance
when the match is over the loser will simply explode without "finish him!"
I've heard that this code has functional gameplay differences. It increases the damage dealt by special moves or something like that. Confirm/deny?

I have, and that's fine if you disagree, but for me, personally, I'd rather not watch them. I have my reasons stated above. I'm probably more of the exception than the rule though as most MK players originally got into the game because of the gore. I do think "It wastes time" is a silly argument, though.

I'm actually glad that there is an option to not watch that mess or I'd probably have stopped playing already.

A good sport is not rage quitting and also respecting the opponent. Is it a celebration or gloating? Personally, Chun-Li jumping up and down is celebrating, Kung Lao sawing a torso in half and exposing the other character's insides, although really cool, falls more in the gloating category. Po-tay-to, puh-tah-to...?

My free time is too valuable. My choice is to not perform fatalities, and with my friends I expect the same. However I understand if others like to do so, especially online. Just don't expect me to stick around for the next match. That being said, I've gone through enormous losing streaks (20+) when my opponent respected the 666 code. He acknowledged my choice and probably understood that I was (trying) to learn from the experience.

Ultimately it boils down to why you play the game. Some people just want to get to the fatalities... to me the journey is far more important than the destination.

With over 1k+ games played and mastery of my main, I see no reason to waste time doing the same lame fatality especially if I'm playing against friends in private matches in back to back matches. The whole point of playing is to get as many matches in as possible with the time I have even though I still seem to get the stupid desync and game session errors. No Blood code all day every day.

I noticed that it's usually the bad players who frequently love to do fatalities in hopes of redeeming their pride/epeen or something. Countless times I've played someone in the random rooms for 5+ matches and won all of them except one where I choose a random character and as soon as they win they proceed to be a dick about it and fatality or teabag and then they decline a rematch. Gratz on the single win dbag.

900-900 works too, and removes that horrid battle damage.
IIRC No Blood code does not remove battle damage, it just turns off Blood and skips "Finish Him" screen.

So... disconnects effect your true skill rank? That sucks, theres been a couple of days where my internet has acted out on me quite a few times, usually when I am winning, and some dc's have added up. I would never quit on purpose. When I am getting owned I take it and finish the match, then write in my notebook notes on what I think happened and why I got owned, then go into practice to find ways to deal with it. I love playing against people that are far better than me because I learn so much. My point is, sure dc's suck, I even agree that it should be tracked so people can decided if they want you in their match in koth or player matches, but it has nothing to do with skill. It should count as a loss for the disconnecting player, and a win for the opponent, but why should effect your skill rank? It has nothing to do with 'true skill'.

I don't know. Sometimes I'll make it look like I'm trying to do a fatality and then just do a njp or a tiny punch that knocks them over. However, I have one reason why I'd do fatalities. I will do a fatality if the person I'm using doesn't have the required 100 -alities in the nekropolis. I know its a dumb excuse, but in my defense I don't do them about 80% of the time anyway. I think I've cleared 3 characters for their fatalities but in ranked I don't bother since I only use 2 mains and won't use a character I'm not as good with. Thats my input on the issue. What I don't like is playing someone and winning with like 10 different characters and then they win(yes occasionally it happens, like when I use jax and they use lao..i.e. even a blind squirrel finds a nut eventually). They will win, and fatal me, and then pick no. I don't send hate mail I just ask why they would stop after they win once. Its kinda funny getting scrub mail back "lol had no choice didn't want to beat that ass again" was the last message I got for asking. I had to laugh at that one.

I never do fatalities but I get mad when people quit before my win is "official". Even if it's not a real rage quit and just to save time like OP, I still find it annoying to have my screen frozen telling me I didn't really win this match because my opponent just left. It's definitely disrespectful and poorsport.

But at the same time it's understandable. Even without doing fatalities I still find some win poses way too long for nothing. Stupid waste of time.

I want to say ^ exactly that.

I don't leave when people do Fatalities because when I used to do one for the achievement I never quit. I do hate when someone does a fatality and doesn't do a rematch. I have no problem with the Fatality itself, but my understanding if someone does this you give someone a chance to do it back.

There is only one thing I'll quit on, and that's tea bagging, mostly because decent players don't do this and I don't have to show respect to a scrub who thinks too much of himself. Either enter the no blood code or stop playing MK though. It's part of the game. Some people like doing it, others don't. You don't like it, don't do it, but if they do it, it's just being a poor sport.

Like I said, I don't like them either, but I won't throw a fit just because they do it. There is no universal code of ethics on MK. Throwing a tantrum because of a fatality, ESPECIALLY if you didn't tell someone before hand that you just don't like watching them, is childish at best.

are the fatalities really that long and boring? there is an achievement which requires 100% mastery with 1 character and another for all characters. that includes doing like 100 fatalities or something like that. and besides that imo it really is not that important to rush to the next match. the game isnt going anywhere. its not that serious. to me it sounds like a rage quit rather than you just not wanting to wait an extra 15-20 seconds.

This.

The flaw in this argument that "it wastes time and I need to be on to my next match" assumes that you're playing purely to advance your personal skill in the most efficient way possible. This mantra belongs to the tournament level players. Tournament level players play offline, since having to adjust for latency is not something they'll ever need to do and will only screw with their gameplay.

My guess is that the people who ragequit by quitting before the match is over do so specifically to deny a win for their opponent. They have nothing to lose - they've already lost. But they can try to really "stick it to 'em!" by denying their win and making it show as a disconnect.

I've fought the top players in online ranked, the best of them (Forever King, JGuthrie, Zyns, Rodney, vVv Napalm - certainly there are a few others, but these are the only ones I've found to consistently beat me 25-50% of the time) have never quit in my ranked or private matches with them. For the record, this statement isn't meant to be taken as boasting.

It's a ragequit, and it's actually more satisfying than a win.

If you fatality drop, it's the exact same thing as a rage quit. No matter how you try and justify a fatality drop, the point is, you got mad enough to quit when your opponent won. Fatalities are apart of the game, and have been since MK1. It's your reward for winning, it's why a lot of newer players strive to win. I know as I kid the only reason I wanted to win is so I could perform a fatality.

Fatality dropping makes you a sore loser, a poor sport, a salty asshat, a ragequitter and ultimately... a douche.

Don't do it.
