Question Is Green Lantern viable?

I feel as if GL is getting away with MURDER right now. People still falling for b13 close rocket power and not backdashing b13. Falling for his mediocre oki game and f3 setups that are EASY to block. His Moblility sucks and gets 3-7d by multiple chars. Including Raven, Zatanna, MMH, and had multiple 4-6s.

GL is viable but not top 10 at all he's very average and balanced but not great at anything he's like a shittier version of Batman lol

The downplaying here is real. Just stop! So many GL players act like every person can counter everything you do, yet they win constantly. There are tons of chars with things that you can work around, yet they still prosper because it's not 100% and you still have to make reads or react to very fast 50/50's. Why can't you see that the char is GOOD!

Seriously? Backdashing b13? No.

B13 close Rocket Power works because you can't just assume he's going to use Rocket Power- you'll eat Lantern's Might and Chainguns all freaking day.

His f3 setups aren't easy to freaking block. All his f3 setups allow him to just as easily do a b13. You have to guess high or low. You can't just use skill to block that shit. It is pure mathematic probability.

He doesn't need mobility- he has b13. His footsie range is big enough to park a car between him and the enemy.

No.

No character that has a b13 like Lantern does should have a mobility that allows him to constantly stay in a range where he can abuse this constantly.

Is green lantern viable? depends on the bracket you get.

He's in a weird spot because he does really well against all the most popular characters but if you get one of the random characters in your pool that push him way out of his comfort zone you're basically fucked. The chances of you having enough exp to overcome the match up are super low because barely anyone plays these characters and those who do are pretty damn good at this stage in the game's life.

b13 is only minorly fraudulent. There's no obvious response because you can mix it up a lot. b13 chain gun, b13 CRP, b1 CRP, b1 chain gun, and b12 can all happen.

F3 set ups are pretty easy to block, but EX Lift > ambigous jump isn't because even the cross up looks like it should hit front side. you just have to guess.

The only time GL isn't viable is if your opponent picks Zatanna, which is rare. Even then, pick him anyway he's the best superhero ever!

GL's still viable. Like KT said, if you run into one of his bad matchups you're possibly fucked...thankfully these matchups are also a rarity in the first place. Plus he deals with a lot of the more popular characters well. I've said this before...numbers-wise he seems unviable and not top 10, but in reality that's not the case due to character popularity.

His "gimmicks" are being figured out, but his strongest aspects aren't even the gimmicks. His neutral game is solid...once he reaches a certain spot on the screen, just about every character is left being forced to respect his options. On top of this, his oki offense is good (no it's not bad if you're not just doing f3 all the time). b13 is backdashable, but GL has too many ways to go about using b1 that you can't just backdash and be like OH I PUNISH JOOZ!

He's still good. Just less fraudulent by way of the metagame development.
