NRS yet have to balance a game properly (i mean not after a year but from the start), still they Keep introducing stuff that makes it way harder everytime

You know me as RisingShieldBro online.
Im getting a Killer Instinct vibe with this "gear" stuff. Im completely down for customization in a NR fighting game since I honestly, ts quite over due. Can you imagine mixing costumes together to make your own? Sounds badass!

Please NRS for the love of god give us a Melissa Benoist Supergirl skin.
For those who can't read it it says

"Alias: Captain Cold
Origin: Central City, Earth
Base of Operations: Central City
Notes: Cryogenic Ability
Marksmanship
Natural Leader
Tactical Analysis Statistician
Elite Combat Strategist"

So I guess we'll be seeing Captain Cold then? And those last three notes are interesting, might give an insight into what he'll be like in the story...

My question is if I'm playing someone else online and they've "geared" up way more than I have, will I be at any kind of disadvantage?
I think it'll work so that the gear directly buffs the base character but all gear is relatively balanced to each other. For example, if there was starting gear that automatically unlocked for Superman that buffed lasers, you could later replace that with a dropped item that buffed super breathe instead. The former would be stronger on a zoning player, and the later would be stronger on a rush-down player.

Before you dismiss the idea as non-competitive, keep in mind MMOs like World of Warcraft have seen competitive play, and getting items in that takes a ridiculously long time. I'm almost for certain that there will be an unlock feature for tournament that comes with a price.

As long as the gear system is balanced for casual and competitive play then I'm on board. Trailer looks good!

Is Gear system an Online or Offline feature? Can you play single player offline and have gear drops every time you play? Or is it that you HAVE to be connected to the internet to play the game?

What if i2 is simply a fighter with rpg aspects, specifically meant to cater towards a more casual audience, while NRS and the pro league continue to support MKX as their go to competitive fighter.

With potential microtransactions from i2 being used to fund future MKX pot bonuses, of course.:DOGE

I am 100% sure this will have microtransactions. Wondering how will I lab different characters in practice mode with all the armor bonuses etc.

On second thought though, if they treat the gear similar to the Variations in MKX, I could see a limited gear selecton working it's way into competative modes. Each character could have several equipment slots, with standard gear to choose from. Maybe Batman gets to choose between using a heavier armor suit, with more strength but less mobility, and some lighter armour that gives him better footsies/zoning potential but less health. So I guess I'm hoping the gear system turns more into a custumization/variation system than a level-up system.

Ok, so a couple of things I wanna bring up for discussion.

1. E3 is soon, maybe we'll see gameplay there? Every point after this could be answered at E3 if this is the case.

2. The balance of this gear system has to be good, it is so crucial to the game. What I mean is I don't think gear should be straight upgrades, you should gain something but you also lose something so that there is always a trade-off. Also like someone has already said giving each character a set of starting gear and then making the drops sidegrades would be a nice way of doing things.

3. How this is going to shake out for competitive play. Hopefully there is some way to unlock all gear for competitive play or maybe people decide to play with base characters only.

4. How gear is given out. So it's going to be random loot drops apparently. Honestly I think it might be better to do something like the MKX krypt where you are given currency and you can choose specifically what gear you want. Also are there different rarities?

Opinions?

Honestly, I have some reservations about this whole "gear" thing after reading the Rolling Stone article about it. This... could really go either way. Reserving judgement for now, but I'm a little worried.

Also, some of these designs are fucking uuuuuuuuuuuugly, dude. Like, my God. Injustice 1 armour wank turned up to 11.

Those are pretty much my only negatives right now.
