Potemkin reaches far and wide too.

@DeftMonk I just realized 5K is burst safe and you can block after for an ez c.Sf.SSS punish which you can RRC into 6H>6H wall break from mid screen.
Nice! Yesterday I was labbing and I found some rc combos off cs that do 140-150 pre wall break with no blood spent. For mid screen can do cs fsss rc j9 (delay) dust (wall bounce) cs 6h. Gets u lots of blood returned and does 148 if I remember right. That’s a nice find about the burst punish. Need to lab how to deal with burst more efficiently.

@RoboCop should try it out bro it’s fun. Let’s hope nrs shows something at e3 and mk isn’t dead.

My computer has no issues with this game on high but this is really my first modern fighting game on PC. What are you guys looking for with settings, from a competitive perspective? Do I just go as low as possible and call it a day? Try to find a mix between latency and graphics? Obviously would prefer to have maxed out settings

It would depend on your own cpu\gpu combo to find the best compromise. Though FG's don't take much to run especially this one its pretty low on requirements. Your latency wont noticeably go up unless you enable v-synch.

For comparison this game at 1440p and max settings my cpu uses about 35% of my gpu and 6% of my cpu. I have a decent rig but if you could run MKX, inj2 and mk11 you rig shouldnt break a sweat on this game.

Does purple RC add to ur hit stun on attacks? I didn't think it slowed the enemy but im able to link things I can't normally after stuff like 236S purple rc drift with nago.

Nah it just stops time briefly and cancels your recovery to zero. Only RRC has a hitbox.

Y'all are making me want to try out this game...
Same here. Is tutorial any good? Because after watching some gameplay I have no idea what the hell is going on. All I see is stuck jump buttons and explosions. Also how hard is execution? Is there a lot of weird back and forth circular motions like in SFV? I bet my 5y old DS4 with very weird feeling D-Pads couldn't handle that anymore. :D

Tutorial mode is good at explaining the mechanics yeah, practice mode is very good as well apart from lack of frame data

On inputs. Yea there's dp motions, some moves half circles, supers double quarter circle forward or half circle back, forward etc etc
Execution in general not that hard at all

Once you understand basic mechanics you're ready to go, it's not really a rocket science and in terms of GG, Strive is the most noob friendly game in the series. Just pick a character who isn't hard to play by design like for example Zato which req. you to master negative edge and think different (controling 2 characters same time) or Faust which by design is a fucking random slot machine lol.

Leo and Sol are pretty straightforward characters to start you journey into GG, very easy to pick up and very strong atm too.

Definitely the time to jump in. The online is great (in match, lobbies are terrible), the player base seems strong and it's getting a lot of love from top players from a variety of games (MK, DBZ, smmaaash) so I think it's going to be popular and vibrant for a good long while. It certainly isn't going to fizzle out after a month.

I'm bad with execution but I'm challenging myself to learn Zato in this one. So far, even with "THE MOST DIFFICULT CHARACTER thunderclap SFX" the execution isn't too terrible. There is all kinds of fancy shit I will eventually need to learn and will definitely break my brain, but on a pick up and play level I was actually surprised how easy it was to get into Zato. A couple of days play and I'm already hitting decent enough combos, enforcing lock down pressure in the corner with Eddie, and some basic puppet mix-ups with his jump D cross up and mixing in overheads and lows in Eddie lockdown.

So yeah, 100% try it out if you're interested. This is a good one.

in combos that dont juggle if you purple rc drift u can link 5k into 6h on nago. Can't figure out why. Also chip the same. For instance zarameyuki purple rc drift into 5k 6h links. Trying to understand why.

Like everyone above said now is perfect time to jump into guilty gear. This game is very beginner friendly and also roster size is small atm so easy to learn matchups.

Zato is super fun, learning basic things with him and Eddie isn't the problem (once youre ok with negative edge). The difficult part is to time pressure correctly (to 1F) with Eddie, otherwise you will get blown up on higher level. Another quite difficult part is to keep Eddie safe while also keeping yourself safe but again this is more advanced stuff which people who only started with GG shouldn't worry to much about. This will come in time with practice.

Just keep in mind that there are characters which are easy to pickup (Sol, Leo, May, Ram) and then there are some harder to pick up like Zato, Faust. Which is a factor if this is your first GG game ever.

Exactly. The game is super deep and play at the higher levels is very advanced. But if you just want to get in there and start getting a feel for the game there is nothing that will stop you. New players might feel more comfortable with Sol or Leo, but if they're more interested in a weirdo like Faust or Zato I'd say dive right in.
