Future of MKX on PC; MKXL Enhanced Online PC BETA

If u play someone on pc with a good connection and has a good pc the experience is the same as ps4/xbone pre xl patch. I own all three so I know
Exactly. The experience appears lesser since, at least here in North America, we often are playing people in Russia or something and that distance makes a difference.

But of course you try telling people that and you get blown up.

The PC version of Mortal Kombat X is a solid version of the game in all respects compared to consoles. Shame they aren't released the upgrades for it.

So that eccentric poster on the Steam board, "Shredder," claims to have gotten an email from WBIE Support here.

Assuming he's not trolling and the email is legit, then it is an official statement about no more development support for the PC version.

Again, assuming this is legit, I don't see why WBIE can't just issue a public statement about it.
After reading this earlier today, I made a call to the WBIE Support line and asked about the future of MKX on PC. The rep told me the only thing they know for certain is, "MKXL and the Enhanced Online functionality will not be available for now". He actually seemed very optimistic that it could show up in the future, even giving me his best guess at when("if I had to guess I would say sometime before the holiday season" he said). After that, I asked about future balance patches to which he responded, "You can expect to receive balance patches and bug fixes as normal."

So, don't give up yet. Try to keep this conversation going for as long as possible. I don't know if anybody realized it but, this is the second most viewed, and the fourth most responded to thread in the MKX forum on TYM.

Fall sounds about right for me too: guess the game will have a few months of life in it on console so further patching and balancing will happen. When that's done it would be easy for an external company to port the content and the netcode, I'm guessing it would be a few months of development time at maximum. Balance patches? I don't think so.

eccentric poster, lol

I think the reason WBIE can't issue public statement like that is to maintain the status quo, and reducing the amount of backlash they will suffer. ATM there's no media outlet independent or network that still talking about how MKX PC is being abandoned or how the fucked up the situation PC gamer got with MKX, considering they got released at the same time and priced at the same price with console version.

The smart stuff!
This is up to us now to remind every potential PC gamer who'd think of buying any new WB game on PC that this situation here happened. And if it happened with title like MK, it might happen with anything WB releases on PC.

On the bright side: I hope this situation will make some PC gamers abandon bad habit of pre-ordering games from publishers like WB (I was cured from this for sure). Also, if it goes for WB games, if nothing changes and if they insist on putting their games on Steam, I'd rather wait until they are officially done with the title. What's the point of buying day one, collecting all the dlcs on launch day, and hoping that they won't just drop the PC support not even a year after release, leaving game with important content missing, if you can lay back, wait until all bugs are fixed and get complete edition of some kind when everybody on consoles bought the dlcs. And if they won't bring any goty edition of the game - well, at least you have not spend you money on some inferior version of the game.

That is some very, very good news. Hopefully it proves true. I'll repost this over on the Steam boards shortly, even though I'll likely get blown up because I somehow approve of what WBIE has done somehow .

Yeah, this is possible, and perhaps the reason they're keeping silent. Or not.

For balance patches, they might be waiting since even last summer, balance patches released would occasionally cause problems. If they are still going to do stuff with the PC version, they might very well want to do it all at once and one final time to keep costs down.

nice trolling there NRS, if this is just a coincidence I kinda doubt it
I honestly think you're letting your personal feelings influence your judgement again :(.

People on Steam have been complaining about this as a troll, and that the Hourly Tower is missing so everything is getting pulled, etc.

I'm 99.9% certain I've seen this Tower before. The Steam DB has no updates still, so it's not new. This shot shows the Hourly Tower is back.

Honestly, I think you're all going too far on the conspiracy theory bit.

I kinda relit the pot.

IMHO I believe this is just a coincidence but regardless of what I think there going to be people that will think otherwise.
OFC there won't be a chance NRS would put an effort just to troll us, it's unlikely for them.

But yeah I'm just providing visual and snarky commentary here.

Yeah, it's just a coincidence. If you google "MKX Dead Forever Tower" you see youtube vids posted In May, July, and October of 2015, as well as January of this year.

Thanks for sharing this! I hope that this rep knows something that we don't already.

Blind justice....
Yeah, that's true, after more checking that tower was already present in the game many times already.

It just looked kinda "in line" with WB -> PC politics lately.

Has anybody else been calling the WBIE support line? I plan to call once or twice a week to ask about the PC versions future. If you can, put in a call to keep the topic in their minds.

I believe it's a long distance call from where I am. For all those who it's not, I encourage this (be polite and don't rage). Please keep us updated on any news you can gather.

Hello guys. I decided to write this post as a suggestion, so I can have feedback from you before considering to post it also in steam forums.

I believe that without a manager or a team working on communications, pc edition is more possible to die. We all know that officially there is no communication specialist on pc, but I believe that it would be great to find a way and unofficially "hire"(for free) our pc communication specialist or even better assemble a whole team. If this person was known because he has connected his name with the game, this would be even better and it would give a better reputation, image and promotion for the pc version. It would be easier to create online tournaments, organize online fights based on timezone and create different rooms for beginners and experienced players for example. And in general keep the game alive with different events.

It would also be easier to organize real tournaments, and persuade famous MK players to participate, in order to add prestige and to contribute to our cause, to win the support of our version back. There are people in this forum that created arcade machines based on the pc edition. I believe that if we use their knowledge, it would be possible to hold a classic MK tournament for example.

These are just some ideas, in order to keep our game alive and show that that the pc version has still something to offer to MK community. If we are able to keep the community of MK united, we will expose easier that WB and NRS are the responsible for tearing it apart with their decision.

If you're talking about a Community Specialist like Tyler, that's not something we can create ourselves as we'd need direct involvement and cooperation from WBIE.

If you're talking about a community member to be an organizer for user created and based events for the PC community, that's different. Keep in mind the PC Kombat Day that was reasonably well organized, but was sparsely participated in.

I haven't had the chance to go to the Steam boards since, last Thursday, I think. How is it over there?

This stops being worth it. WB/NRS clearly showed us that they despite us, they took money for half baked product and they can`t be touched. I don`t care whether NRS and Boon are to blame along with WB or not, both of these companies are burned for me. There are better games to play (not only fighting), and better things to do than benting even lower to them when they spit on us.

I would like the first, but I don't believe it is possible to happen. So, the second option would be really good as well, even though it's not official. Yes I know, personally I was able to find opponents during kombat day, but a bigger participation from the fans would be more positive. That's why I believe that we need a youtuber or a commited member of this forum for example to organize, promote and stream events like the official kombat casts for consoles.

In steam everything is as usual.

I can understand that, personally I blame them both, as long as none of them is taking responsibility of their actions. I also believe that we have many options for other types of games. However, based on my personal taste, except tekken no other fighting game series is even close to MK.

Finally, there are two reasons that I suggest to people to continue playing the game
1) The game is fixed now, so the experience is great and the online system works better even with mediocre Internet connections.
2) I don't want this version to be dead, because this will give NRS/WB an easy way out. They will come up with an excuse of a small player base to abandon the game officially for the future and even shut down the servers.
