Also @freerf245 spacing out with your long range is a smart move. You're gonna want to bait stuff with a heavy canceled into a light. Also guard breaks are your best friend.

Not only the guard breaks are your best friends, but, also, the evasive and the counter attacks. They will help you out for beating some dudes out there.

I did the evasive attacks and killed the whole group without being hit. lol

Warlord might still be the best in the game...only been a day but he still seems REALLY good.
Does Warlord not suffer hit stun or something? I tried him out and was able to just keep attacking right through my opponent's attacks.

@karaokelove Did you watch your characters Basic and Advanced video tutorials? Nobushi from what I gather is a poke heavy character with bleed counters and stance cancels. This game will frustrate you until you get a rhythm to your characters moveset. If you need to practice you can make a private match vs bots and then deactivate the bots just to practice your strings.

Can you make a duel match and invite a friend to vs? I could only do it for brawl, had to search randoms in duel?

OKAY! So apparently in 2v2, if you kill one of the other team and your teammate is still fighting, you should let em fight it out. Devs apparently talked about it being an honor thing and dammit i'll respect the devs intentions!
Absolutely r.etarded. Why make a 2v2 gametype when you just want to play 1v1?

That's like if NRS saw Run Cancelling in MKX and said: "Don't do that, you're not supposed to cancel your runs"

If they wanted 2v2 to act like consecutive 1v1s, they should have had maps force players to finish their battle before allowing teammates to fight

FYI for new players:

  • On rage quitting:
So this game rewards calculated attacks and is paced for potentially really quick encounters / deaths. Especially the 1v1 and 2v2. It's like Dark Souls had a love child with the Bushido Blade series with a dash of the Assassin's Creed multiplayer. Expect to die as you learn, for people to be kind of dickish about it, and for stuff to seem cheap until you figure out how to counter/adjust.
  • Getting a handle on the mechanics:
Go to the "How to Play" tab from the main menu to access advanced tutorials for universal mechanics like Parrying, Revenge Meter, blocking multiple opponents, and not to mention Block Breaking counters. So if you're getting thrown into environmental deaths a lot know that you can just flat out stuff it on a read. Works just like throw reversals in fighting games. You get a free 1500 coins for completing the Advanced tutorial so it's worth it for that alone.

There's also the character specific Basic and Advanced videos specific specific game mode tutorials. Finally, this is also where your practice mode is so you can lab up stuff like specific match ups, string timings, stance cancels, etc.

  • On team fight mosh pits:
Look. People that have some preconceived notion about "honor duels" are deluded. There's in game mechanics like friendly damage and Revenge meters in place to help players comeback in a 2v1 or a 3v1 so the game is literally balanced around fights that aren't strictly 1v1. Which, speaking of 1v1, is where you should go if you're concerned about "honor dueling".
