ESL League, The tournament standard, and the problem for pad players.

Sucks that all TOs agreed to use the PS4 as the main console for MKX so everyone bought a PS4, including myself. And now we get hit with this news and it sucks cause not everyone can afford to buy both consoles to complete online and offline.

but lets see how this turns out. Online tournaments can be a bit problematic.

Disagree. The entire thing is horseshit. Console exclusivity should be a thing of the past and benefits no one but the company endorsing the exclusivity. Isolate an entire side of the gaming community then attempt to label the other side as a "pro" scene? Yeah, no thank you to literally everyone involved in promoting this scheme.
Actually, what you're complaining about is not the exclusivity, but, precisely, the fact of PS4 not having the exclusivity. Things would've been much easier for everyone had MKX been console exclusive, I guess.

Just gonna throw this out here - the physical tournament standard for ESL is probably the least-concerning of the way this is run. People can get extra sticks/pads as needed, or borrow or share.

Why do the online qualifiers have to be platform-specific other than for promotional/exclusivity deals that the players get nothing out of? If you need to have lets say, 50 top players make it out to the finals, divide the number of entrants for each platform based on representation by population - if 60% of people sign up on Xbox One, have 60% of those 50 spots be given to Xbox One users. If its 30% PS4 users, give the top players from the PS4 qualifiers those 30%, and the rest PC (just throwing these numbers out there as an example).

The issues THAT could create is people could specifically avoid playing each other based on platform, or perhaps some platforms might have more killers in it than others. To which I say, this is an online qualifier anyway, and the quality of who's going to make the physical tournament is already incredibly suspect.

I have the Razer Atrox for XB1. I'm not going to buy a whole new stick especially with the ESL announcement on XB1 at least but I really want to be able to play at my local offline scene that will be on PS4. I'm not familiar with modding and have never done any myself either but I would be open to it if it actually works and will allow it to switch back and forth so I can still use it on my XB1
That sticks uses a common ground pcb. You can dual mod it with a hori fc4 and have a stick that is usable on both an xbox 1 and ps4. General info on a dual mod: http://forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/125848/dual-modding-101/p1
Hori FC4 pad hack info: http://forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/194825/third-party-ps4-padhack-options/p1
If that is too much for you to attempt, pay someone to do it for you.

I think this is great news, most people hating cause it's not on PS4.
I think it's a fair match that American fighting games are supported on the American console. People can say the ps4 is better but that is just your personal opinion, respect what these development companies like NRS are doing and support it or GTFO.
Also one quick point on the PC topic that I still don't understand why people don't get it yet, pc's are expensive as heck twice if not three times as high as a console and folks still wonder why TOs aren't switching to them? Really can anyone not see the buisness standpoint on that? To top it off more money would have to be invested on updated graphics cards within a year or two, That would be retarded

Unless your confident enough in your skills to compete and make it far from the get go, then yea it sucks for some people. But if your not skilled with the top 10 percent to go on and win just sit back and watch the show and be happy for the scene. Let this play out and develop some skills and maybe in the future it will be on ps4. I still support this thing 100 percent and plan to view all the streams. It's good for Mkx, so it's good for me.

That is fair point. graphics cards come and go with the wind these days.

The poverty is real.
I'm a senior accountant at one of the Big 4, PriceWaterHouse Coopers, in Manhattan. "Poverty" is the last word I'd associate with me.

I'm already going to travel to tournaments and paid for my game/system/fightstick. I refuse to shell out $1000 total on 2 video game systems, games, and FightSticks. That's absurd to me.

If you're upgrading your video card yearly you're fucking up, you really don't need to do that unless you're doing a ton of high end design work. You can get away with video card upgrades like once every three years.

No doubt bro.

For whatever reason some people actually do think that if you aren't willing to spend thousands on one game you must be broke.

Cool no doubt bro.

There are some people that think that if you aren't willing to spend an extra $400-600 then you must not be passionate about the game or must be broke. I'm sure some are, but just as many others like myself rather spend it on something else than another version of the same items.

That logic man lol.

I think that is TBD. The netcode will play a strong role, but if it's solid, I find it hard to believe casual Joe, that button mashes, would beat a high level player in a ft1.
